I've also encountered this problem, but i think english government documents are also very complicated. Some people think that it is unnecessarily complicated, but it's to avoid ambiguity. In other words: legal documents and goverment documents are usually complicated to make sure that people understand it EXACTLY right, because common speech can often be understood in multiple ways, which causes misunderstandings. That's obviously not something you want for important government documents.

@70othl3ss4 I get this. But the point is, as an English learner myself, I just figure out that I can understand an academic paper, a contract or a official document better in English than my mother tongue. So I believe beyond the accuracy of expression, it does exist some thinking problems in Chinese, which impedes people can fully understand it. Maybe linguists can figure it out why goes that way.

I think you are right. I'm from Turkey and I was thinking the same thing. Turkish documents, mortgages are also written in heavy language. I also agree with your idea about STEM lectures, actually same in Turkey. We just learn how to solve, not learn "how and why" most of the time. I think the main reason is the both Turkey and China has no culture about science or technical development. West began to journey of science in about 15th century and built a culture but, we had not. Actually we just know what West developed and are use it. All Newton, Descartes, Edison and Einstein were Western. So they has science lineage and legacy.

@@kaksiwo8097 Yeah, I suppose Russian also got the same problem in their language system. As I know, not many languages go straight forward as English or those European languages, which I think impede them developing logic-thinking and reasoning in their own culture.

Hello. I was wondering which topics you're interested in expanding your English. I think your English is excellent by the way. I've been studying Mandarin now for a couple of years and I'm trying myself to learn more topics. My goal is to become fluent eventually. Maybe we could exchange ideas if you're looking to expand your vocabulary just like I want to expand my vocabulary as well. Let me know how you would like to get in contact. Be well my friend and stay focused on being persistent. I also have to do the same in my journey of learning as well 👍

@@FireDragonLabs Happy New Year! I really love those episodes based on self-improvement content, ranging from philosophy, economics, sport science, mathematics & business etc. I'm a big fan of Andrew Huberman and Chris Williamson, if you have checked them out ever. I'm not always that serious though, I can be quite funny as well. If you want to talk with to master your Mandarin, with the reciprocation of correcting my English speaking. Send me email to danieljin2022@gmail.com which is my personal email address. I'm gonna contact you back with further information that we can keep in touch with and talk via a video call.

Why did you say you’re not fluent? You clearly are. Is there a reason you want to do language exchange rather than just making friends with English speakers who aren’t learning Chinese? Are you currently in China? Do you plan to move to an English speaking country? If not, why do you want to learn English?

    • @languagefocusing

@@artugert Thank you. I do language exchange for the sake of executing reciprocation in terms of making friends. I want to offer something back, you know. I don't actually have any plans to move to an English-speaking country, I'm learning it for like self-improvement and my personal career.
