    I have : Comminuted minimally displaced fracture of the calcaneum extending from the tuberosity posteriorly to the subtalar articulation. Intra-articular minimally displaced fracture through the base of the little toe metatarsal. In accordance with the 5th metatarsal fracture All very painful espcially when swelling if i try to move aorund no surgery may need it, my friends have said that i need one and will be out for a while i play bowling - love walking......this does not help at all. Can anyone simplify the above of medical terms my GP says there is mutliple breaks but that is it! Not sure what to do. Whether keeping it off ground is doing good to wait additonally for an appt!?

    I'm 5 days in to recovering from medial meniscus surgery and couldn't be happier. I can walk without any real pain in the meniscusitself, although my quads are still swollen and restricted from the tourniquet applied during the procedure. After 14 months of pain, it was misdiagnosed as arthritis and meniscus fraying, which didn't help. The orthopaedic surgeon resected the torn sections back to the stable edges and excised the medial plica, which wasn't indicated on the MRI, but that's apparently not unusual. It's a long road back for my 65 yo knee, but at least I now have options whereas my knee prior to the surgery was just so painful and debilitating nothing seemed possible. Thanks for the video.

      As an update to my 3 month old comment, the surrounding muscles took several months to recovery from the tourniquet application, despite me being in the gym 6 days per week. I also developed prepetella bursitis that required another visit to the surgeon. I am finally able to start running again, although only shortish efforts at this stage. I am now quite hopeful that I will be able to return to running again, which was definitely not the outlook I had before the operation.

    It hurt during the injection and after, for an hour or so; the pain after was excruciating making it impossible to relax. I took an Advil and iced it, it began to swell. After the hour or so, it finally stopped throbbing and tingling with pain; I was able to relax although dare not move my hand, it would trigger pain. The next day, I was unable to close my hand. The injection was in my palm for trigger finger of the middle finger. Hopefully it gets better and I get function of my right hand. The pain comes and goes when I try to bend my middle finger, so I don't.

    • @billveek9518

      @@nicoleyap6070 An anti inflammatory diet, juicing (don't laugh it works), compression knee band, icing and elevation, strengthen the knee by swimming or an ebike, low impact movement to build the area around the knees strength and flexibility. The ebike was the big healer as it allows movement without overloading the knee with stress. The nutrients helped beyond what I could have ever imagined, losing weight was obviously big because it reduced the PSI of the joint. It took a diligent routine of all of these things to bring my knee to full recovery with no pain today, the added bonus was being super fit at 67 when my doctor said a knee replacement was my only option! I suggest the Electra Townie go ebike with the flat foot technology. The ebike allows the rider to simply select more assistance when needed when exertion is encountered. It worked and I'm literally speechless at the results. You can always get a knee replacement but you only have two originals so I'm grateful to God because I did pray that he would help me heal my knee. He did. Anti inflammatories like Advil were used sparingly from time to time but many natural plants and foods contain these same ingredients and basically that's where the drug companies developed the chemistry for these drugs. Best of luck to you.

    • @billveek9518
      @billveek9518 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nicoleyap6070 The compression knee band allows more blood flow to the area under compression thus lower inflammation and promoted healing of the existing area, I'm not a doctor but I am a believer in due diligence in everything, do the research, read what foods are inflammatory and which foods are not! It's all on the internet, don't eat shitty food for starters right away, no junk food! When the knee starts to improve don't stop the process and revert back to your old ways. Take care to not stress the knee as you go along, no heavy lifting or stupid moves that will reinjure the meniscus. Give the knee a chance to rebuild itself, it can be done, doctors aren't always right in their diagnosis and I have found a lot of times their flat wrong. You must be dedicated to healing not just your knee but the entire you.

      Yep in most cases it leads to degeneration of the articular cartilage and joint space narrowing. The degree and speed at which arthritis develops depends on your age at the time of injury, weight going forward and activity level. Most people will develop osteoarthritis in their later year after such a procedure. If you had a large piece of the meniscus cartilage resected then you will go rapidly toward developing osteoarthritis. The progression of osteoarthritis can be slowed down using a meniscus transplant and knee cartilage resurfacing techniques by around 10 years. So if you have a meniscectomy you'll be ok on average for around 7-10 years. Then the pain arises . That's when it's time for a meniscal transplant and then a robotic partial knee 15 years and finally a total knee 20 years.

    Would be pretty difficult NOT being able to tell when it is yourself with the shoulder (rotator cuff injury). Same story when you break your collar bone after only a fall too. In my mom's case she broke a collar bone long ago when the tractor she was trying to start on her own at around age 11 or so when it pushed her arm back suddenly. A collar bone injury visible on an X-ray may be going along with a rotator cuff injury. That is the only situation in which a patient would not be able to tell if they have a shoulder (rotator cuff) injury that I could think of..Tractors during the 1930's were built different than they are being built today. Not like the kind of tractor that premier of Alberta Daniel Smith has allegedly in the past had to often drive herself given how she is being portrayed in the media up here in Alberta, Canada right now with the help of her publicist.
