(Tyldesley, Manchester, UK)

Any other way, without the Apple dongle?

For everyone trying to do this and following the exact steps and still not working, make sure your iPhone is updated to newest iOS as the ssd can only be read with new firmware.❤️🙏

I think I'm gonna just keep all the backup apps (Google photo, Dropbox, Shutterfly, iCloud). This hardware crap is giving me a headache, but I'm so afraid of losing my stuff. When I used to work on a PC, I plugged in an external drive and bingo! Everything got transferred. Sorry for the rant. Not your fault. You explained really well.

Brydge all day. Kickstands have a long footprint and are useless on the lap and in bed. The Brydge magnets are strong and one together it’s a solid piece of kit.

Thanks for the great info! I didn't realize SSD drives need a power source. I got the Podoru (from Amazon) with built in lightning and USB C connectors (charges up to 4 devices at once). It is a MagSafe charger, so no cable actually needed, freeing up your lightning port. Turns out the Crucial X9 Pro SSD I got doesn't need a power source. So maybe that can work for some of you!

This setup is quite basic, and I believe most people are already familiar with it. I don’t really understand why you continue making videos like this when there’s nothing new or valuable to offer. As for the real issue-my iPhone 16 Pro Max isn’t showing my external drive in the Files app, even after the proper setup. I suspect it might be due to the partition format (exFAT). I need the drive to work seamlessly on both my Mac and iPhone without having to reformat it, as it contains a significant amount of data that I don’t want to lose. Unfortunately, I also don’t have an alternative option to back up the data elsewhere. I keep coming across these types of videos, hoping to find a solution, but all I ever see are people repeating the same basic setup tutorials without offering anything new or helpful.

The speed you are describing is mega BITS per second (Mbps), not mega Bytes per second (Mb/s). 1 MB/s = 8 Mbps
