Years ago when I worked at a Toyota dealership, we swapped an early F engine into a 1958 GMC pickup that belonged to one of the parts men. Other than having to use the GMC bellhousing and clutch, and having the Toyota flywheel drilled to accept the GM pressure plate, it was a bolt in swap. Even the exhaust pipe and radiator hoses fit!

Beautiful truck. My sister picked up a 64 FJ40. It’s got the Toyota inline six. The steering feels sloppy. Any suggestion on steering box swap I can do to get the truck handling better. Thanks for all the videos. PS I have 71 C10 I’m currently LS swapping.

For the price and work involved. Why not just upgrade to a whole new axle that already has disc brakes from factory. Maybe I'm wrong, but seems much easier.

You got yourself a beautiful truck there sir. Havent been out to the hot rods on the bluff since i took my 66 c10 out there, Ended up swapping the motor out and rebuilt the transmission. Hoping I can get her back out to the next one that comes up.

I've got a '63 fj40, I would like to make the brakes a little safer, do I need to convert ball and claw to birfield joints in order to upgrade the brakes?

There is an E-Brake version of that caliper available. I don’t remember the year but it is what I used on my 49 Ford. With it you can keep you e-Brake working and don’t need the drum type

My original engine was locked up.I have a three speed transmission that appears to be good. My question is if I convert to a four speed, what transmission would you recommend? I am trying to do it right but on a budget.

Great information! I am using FJ60 knuckles/rotors/calipers for a disc brake conversion on a 1972 FJ40. The FJ60 disc brake backing plates/dust shields I have are rusted out and difficult to find a good pair. Do the backing plates from mini-truck or FJ80 interchange onto the FJ60 knuckles/rotors/calipers? What is the interchangeability of backing plates?

I need an intervention!!! Just got a 1971 fj40 (Love it) and I need to replace the defroster hose on the driver side, and of course I can’t fit my hand all the way up there to attach the new hose to the vent. How do I gain access to that area? Mine doesn’t have that cutout between the cluster and the glove box.

I have an f motor but don't nñknow if is the 1.5. It is a 73 the serial number starts with F430. Hope you can recognize. Thanks
