David Anderson I copied the title from Wikipedia: "The song became famous with English lyrics but retaining the Yiddish title, "Bei Mir Bistu Shein". It also appeared with a Germanized title "Bei mir bist du schön". "
***** Thanks Carl. It's puzzling why the Yiddish phrase would conflate/sort-of-join the German "you" (du) with "bist" (are).
David Anderson I know zilch about Yiddish except that it's some kind of Hebrew/German blend.
***** More German than Hebrew: e.g. delicatessen . So, if one speaks German one can converse in Yiddish pretty well.
