They're pretty well balanced I would argue, yeah it has loads of poise damage and damage in general but you're also VERY slow, so one mistake against a somewhat difficult boss can be fatal

Embrace the ash summons. They trivialize the bosses. I killed the lion and first try after using the summon. I think the ppl complaining about the difficulty are trying to solo the bosses without summons
