West Coast Mountain Biker
South Africa
I am a semi retired skateboarder newly dubbed mountain biker. My current goal is to provide content containing local mountain biking rides and areas to ride in my community. There are many mountain bikers in my area, and I feel that not many of them know where they can ride or there are many spots that they don't know of. As I develop my style of content I will also grow from this into more videos like local rider features, local segments and even some other stuff like maintenance. I will also try to get as much of the events I participate in into videos.

Thanks brother.
What bikes do you have?
Hey. I have a Silverback Sido 1 dual sus and a Silverback Stride Expert hardtail. The bikes in the video are mostly Scott. But not mine.
Afrikanerssss
Skuldig...😁
En hys terug!
😜 Hy probeer.
❤
🤙🏻
Holy crap when did I step into the club?
😅
Hi, great video. Assuming by ur accent im guessing ur South African. I just want to know where in SA u are because they are some nice trails in the Lourendsford Wine Estate in Somerset West, Western Cape. I ride there very often and its quite a blast! Also if u have the time and effort, i wanted to know how the Silverback Stride Expert feels for you and your opinion. Im coming from a Titan Racing Rogue and the Silverback is like 10000 times better lol. Hope to hear from you soon.
I am indeed South African. My accent when talking English is very noticeable seeing as I am Afrikaans. I can say that I have had no problems with the Stride Expert. I ride it more than my soft tail these days. The only bad thing that I can say is that my bike doesn't have through axles bolts. The wheels are secured by those skewers type screws. But no issues with them. The suspension feels great. Hope this helps.
👏
🤘🏻🙏🏻
Hola tenes video del purgado d esos frenos? Gracias
Nice skating 🤟
Thanks! 😁Think I got lucky with this one.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker luck!? brother, you had so much steez doing that, it looked like your 50th that day. that's muscle memory and skill.
Much love my dude. Appreciate it.
Don’t use CO2 it does not work with sealant , and this is a good pump. Pump to 160 psi open quickly to seat tire .
Thanks for the comment. 🤘🏻
This pump cannot measure my current wheel pressure?
Nope. The gauge is only to show the pressure in the cannister.
Well done, keep it up.
Thanks dude. Appreciate it.
Well done and thanks for a great viewing of this years cycle tour
Ah, thank you very much for your comment.
I love seeing church outreach programs in their communities! My church puts on teeball and soccer leagues for our small community. Everyone online bashes religion and loves to harp on and on about any bad things they can find but they totally ignore the positives.
Ah, thank you for your comment. This was totally one of those gatherings that aims to get the community involved. And very positive as well.
Lekker seeing more people record their ride. Well done
Ja. Thanks man.
Looking good man. I think I’ll do the same. 👊
Glad to hear it. And thanks.
keep up the grind dude😊😊😊
Thanks dude. I appreciate the support.
Great stuff
Thanks. I appreciate it 🙏🏻
Love mountain biking too😮
Glad to hear it. 🙏🏻
you cannot skip the fact that someone was on a unicycle.
I actually saw two of them. Don't know if there were more. But that is pretty spectacular.
Felt this one for sure !!
Hey. This year there was many things that made that last climb a tough one. The wind was one of them. I myself got to that point and just went to spin in out. Hope you enjoyed it none the less.
Can I use Jo2a brake pads on M615 deore? Is it compatible?
Hey. I'm not sure about the Jo2a brake pads? I think they might be meant for higher end brake calipers, like xtr or something in that region. The best is to remove the old pads and go to a bike shop. Or at least compare it to those in the shop. Or online. Sometimes, they give you an indication on the packaging for brake caliper compatibility.
Promo>SM 👏
Thanks. I don't know what you mean by this comment though.
Mine fell off
Hey. What do you mean? Your cassette?
*promo sm* 🎊
Thanks... but what do you mean by this comment?
😂 The gift that keeps on giving. Smaak my jy kort nuwe videos.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker 100%😂
Ek werk daaraan.
@@WestCoastMountainBikerDis als reg, no pressure
Waar is jy man:(
Jis man. Verbaas toe myself. Het toe begin konsentreer aan my fiksheid en begin gestruktureerde oefen sessies insit en ry toe die Ride and Run Darling race en kom toe 3de. So ek was nou heeltyd in daai roetine. So ja. Paar verskonings. Maar stay tuned. Sal binnekort weer begin uploads doen.
Still got it
Thanks man. It takes little longer now but I feel good flipping my board again.
Great video , For those keen MTN Bike enthusiasts out there , this could be one for you , although it looks like a tough climb
😂😂 true. I can see many people skipping the intro or the entire video. I thought for sure the transitions between clips would get the most negative comments. Thanks for leaving a comment.
@WestCoastMountainBiker lol , i use to guard the radar at kapteinskop when i was in the airforce so clicked on your vid , the actual vid was pretty good 👍
Ah thanks man. I appreciate the kind words. I just told my wife at this stage of editing I had learnt some new techniques that I wanted to try out. So kind of messed up this video for the viewer by trying to fit everything in this one video. I'm not too proud of it. Watching it now after a few years I can see that it's overkill. But thanks for the feedback. How was the experience working up there? Did you ever have to climb it with a mountain bike? That elevation is hectic. Especially the first 5 or so kilometers.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker Fortunately not , I guarded it twice , nearly hang glided off it ( well it was discussed ) . The views were incredible , the height was breathtaking . Im sure it could be regarded as one of the best ( hardest ) MTN Bike runs in the western cape ?
I wouldn't go that far. But maybe the West Coast area. Really spectacular views on a nice day with no cloud cover. There is a B&B up there now. Potkook. They built some nice mtb trails there. I've only done them once though.
ROUVY is the best by far.
True story. 👍🏻
So Rouvy it is.. thank you 🤩🚴♂🚴♂🚴♂
😜👌🏻
Nice vdo on pressure over drive bicycle floor pump. Can we use this for normal bicycle tyre and general purpose use as on football? Thanks for the demo.
Hey thanks for the comment. I'm not sure about the football. But I'd give it a try.
where was this?
This is in my local town called Vredenburg. It's in the West Coast of the Western Province of South Africa.
Hope u enjoy 🎉
Yes. This was an awesome experience/achievement. I have yet to tell the story but it was not all smooth sailing. But I am proud of the end result. In the back of my mind I wonder what could have happened had I actually given it full gas from the start line.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker oh okay
I have been using Rouvy for some time now and I am very satisfied, especially with the recent updates. I gave a shot to Fulgaz in past but did not like it that much and I heard it is not developing quite well and looks more or less the same for couple years now.
That's good information. I am off the indoor training apps for now. Weather is good and training outdoors are much more satisfying.
Awe awe oom

@@max.TH-cam2139 dis cool. Geniet maar die tyd op skool. Grootmens lewe is baie hard.
Glad ur okays 😃
Got lucky on this one. It ended up being more of a joke with everyone laughing than a situation where everyone is in shock and the trip ends up in the hospital.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker oh srry
My bottle holder fell of mid ride😂 and my forks are done for
😅 just goes to show how much hammering those trails do to your bike.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker 🤣
Awe awe oom ek was vandag hier vir die eerste keer ek moet sê dit daren baie lekker
Awesome. Ek moet ook slag weer soontoe gaan. Lanklaas.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker ja ek ry 'n full sus so dit was baie smooth
Lekker. Watse bike ry jy?

Dis nou toevallig. Ek ry die sido 1
trying to repair my continental gp5000 tubless tire . its a nightmare as soon as you have a small cut it never seals . tubless only seals small holes but never any small cut
That's true. I used to ride with an extra inner tube for that exact reason. Just to get home. So if the sealant doesn't work and the tire plug fails as well, I try to stick a piece of paper on the inside where the cut is and then fit an innertube. In a perfect world we wouldn't need any of this.
Thanks for the video. I'm about to buy my first trainer and use it with my mtb xc bike. I'm wondering - does any of those apps allow you to choose and ride against/with bikers on the same type of bike. Does leaderboard take that into account?
Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that question. I can only say that using Rouvy I managed to overtake some other riders that were busy on the same route. And I was also using my soft tail XC mountain bike. But I never knew which bike they were using. But it could be nice if they paired same type bikes on the same routes. Especially if you want to compare yourself to others. I use strava as well and it's the same story. Same segment... but road bikes usually take the segments on the road.
@@WestCoastMountainBiker ok, thank you. I'm new to trainers so I'm probably overthinking this.
@sir_micho no worries. I personally prefer riding outdoors but I enjoy having the option to carry on training or exercising if the outdoors doesn't permit optimal training conditions.
I was on zwift but prefer riding through augmented reality than completely virtual rides. I use Rouvy now and really like it. I have no glitches or connection issues and downloads have been very fast.
Same here, I never experienced issues with Rouvy and really enjoy the app. I also use the training plans for the winter.

😜 Nice eye. And poorly done as well. 🤷♂️
No! It was a Very good transition❤
Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words.
Ur welcome
Nice transition
Thanks man. 😊
Lekker man.
Dankie Ian. Ek wil baie graag weer by een of ander Bike Park uit kom. Die weër is net bietjie onplesierig die laaste ruk. Maar dankie vir die ondersteuning.
Awesome! I like your techniques 😊
Thanks a lot. Really appreciate the feedback.
Heal up quick!
Thanks dude. This was a year ago. So I am doing great. It will never be the same as before but I'm just happy it wasn't worse. My saving grace was my helmet. I had a pretty nasty bump on the head as well.
Very useful - I will be using this to service my own Recon Silver fork however I think I will be purchasing new seals
Best to have them and not need them than need them and not have them. Glad you can make use of the video.
Hi. Daar is lekker downhills....mooi scenery... maar ai...daardie laaste opdraende by Simola hill het my doodgemaak.
Jis man. Jy maak my lekker jaloers.
Geniet hom. Baie mooi wêreld om in te trap. Dis 'n voorreg.
