UP Big Boy Across Iowa 9/5/24
After learning that UP 4014 was going to pass through Iowa on my day off from work, I made plans to go up to the UP to chase it East from Boone. In this video are the trains that I caught in the hours before the Big Boy left, my chase of it, and a couple IAIS trains on my way back home.

Trains that I recorded on August 23rd on the BNSF/NS Join Line in Camden, MO. Also included is a UP Train on the River Sub. Sorry I Haven't uploaded in a while, I've had computer problems for the past 2 weeks, I ended up having to buy a new one.

I spent the better part of the 15th along the BNSF/NS Joint line in Missouri, recording a total of 26 trains. Including NS 255 (The Triple Crown Roadrailer), a BNSF Executive Mac, and more.

Seeing that 260 was heading South with an Eco unit, I decided on a whim to go to Ottumwa to catch it. To my surprise I would catch more than just 260.

The BNSF/NS Joint Line on August 1st was decently busy while I was there. Recording a total of 28 trains, featuring NS 8103 leading an Empty Grain, and one of the last Triple Crown trains before service was terminated.

Yeah, and it was also the only BNSF train I caught the whole time I was there, after I left 2 more CPKC trains went by

I worked on a mechanical troubleshooting crew for BN in the PRB from 1994 to 2003. Best part of a 40 year career.
I was out in the powder River Basin area in August, 2023 and had a great time. 99% of the roads are all pavel and your also dealing with about 3 roads into the mines areas where all the tracks can be viewed from your car or a very short walk. Plenty of traffic even though alot of maintance was going on, visited with a several BNSF employees about traffic and they were great. Well worth the trip, I would do it again! I also just subscribed to your channel.

I found it real funny and Nostalgic at the speed the train was going in this video. That was actually the speed that 3985 goes at when departing a yard for the main line.
Beginning of the end of the UP steam program. It's just not profitable. Enjoy 4014 while you can.

I chased this from Coralville to Davenport awesome catch
Union Pacific are idiots, they had a schedule up for a long time to take the Boone sub and stop at towns on November 17. Then randomly out of the blue they take down the schedule and decide to ditch their plans and take Iowa interstate instead 2 days later, in the night. Because of them I missed this train. I have strong negative feelings for UP after this👎🏻
