AdmitJet Armor electric throttle upgrade. Electric dirt bike upgrade. Talaria, Sur Ron, E Motocross
In this video I show you how you can upgrade your AdmitJet Armor 72 volt dirt bike from the factory spec'd mechanical cable throttle to an electric Sur Ron style throttle assembly. This improved the action, feel, and arguably the responsiveness of the throttle and is an afforable upgrade that only costs around $40-$50 (at the time of the video posting.) Rawrr Mantis electric bike - A Comprehensive Review -Talaria Sting
มุมมอง 1.7Kปีที่แล้ว
An overview of many of the key components and experiences our team of test riders have had over the past several months with the Rawrr Mantis ebike/emoto/ off road electric dirt bike. We've been testing the Mantis in a variety of different trail/field/ and urban environments over the past few months and this video is the compilation of our various months of testing. We have collected some real ...
Whatever happened to that deep dive full review video for this bike??? I just got one for an absolute steal and I think it’s a really solid platform. I don’t love the clutch and transmission setup myself, but it’s got full size moto suspension, wheels, brakes…and it is fast. I’d love to see someone swap the motor and controller out with the one from the Ventura one…and fix the suspension woes…see how it stacks up against the others with those changes.
dawg where did u go
That's some nice 80's intro music.
Thank you! I love the 80s music!
Hey any update on the throttle upgrade after test run?.. was it a better choice? If so can you provide a link for the throttle
Hi! It has done well for me! No issues this far and the electric surron style throttle has given it a more smoother progressive feel. In all fairness though, my original throttle assembly on my bike has zero issues. It was just a more cumbersome design imo. The bike still naturally has a slight lug feel when it engages the gear between the use of the clutch and the shifter. It’s a little clunky but I think that’s to be expected. I’ll find the link and repost for the throttle I purchased. Thanks for watching!
This is the link to the one I purchased. JFG RACING Motorcycle Sur Ron Throttle Tube Assembly Cable Electric Throttle Grip For Sur Ron Light Bee X/S Electric Dirt Bike
Thanks
Hopefully this is the throttle fix it needs as it seems in tyler monagans review of this bike it seems to shut it down and flip the breaker. 🤟👽🎅🚲🎬
How would you assess the range on the Mantis?
Pillow tops are definitely among the worst grips ever created 😂
Ah man! I love them! I just can't get into the 1/3 waffle or diamond grip. I get the debate though! LOL!
Have warehouse in usa? How much with shipping inside usa?

Nice! Eager to see your full review!
Thank you so much! I need to hop to it and get something put together on it! Thanks again!
Nice video! Glad to know you like our Admitjet Armor!
Thanks!
"promo sm" 💋
Nice video looking forward to the full review!
Thank you for watching!
Wow. Long video! took me a few minutes to install mine. You didn't show it working? Did it run the motor correctly? I installed a Surron dual hall throttle yesterday on the same bike. Works on the stand but doesn't run the bike at all under load. The bike just stutters. Adjusted the throttle voltages etc but could not get it to work.
Yeah, it ended up being longer than I expected too. Mine does work under load. So far it has performed consistently and predictably. Do you think your unit has damaged wires? I felt the wiring on it is a bit fragile. I read someone’s review on amazon and they had a faulty unit. I did test on stand, but during the recording of the video there was a storm coming up and I didn’t test during this taping. I’ll add it into the next video. Thanks for watching and hope you get a replacement.
@@ElectroBikesusa Thanks for your reply. Of course the supplier said they never get issues with their throttles... I will try it on my mates Armor to see if its my bike or the throttle. Glad yours worked Cheers
Hope you’ll be able to get one that works. I will update if mine stops working properly. I wished the build quality of the throttle was slightly better for sure. Thanks for watching!
So detailed!
Thanks! I tried to get it all in there! Lol! Thanks for watching!
So detailed!
Can’t wait to see a full review and footage!! I am waiting to receive mine
Sweet-!!! I hope it arrives soon! I got a feeling you will love it! It’s my ride of choice for electric! I saw the factory just got the street legal version supermoto up for order too!
Saw that too!! And thank you I’m so excited!!
What brand sprockets did you use for the mantis 420 conversion? And for what model?
I ordered this 14T for the front sprocket on the Rawrr Mantis. It is a 20mm height 14T size 420. From Amazon. The rear on the Mantis is a Warp 9 60T and also a Warp 9 420 52T rear on the Talaria Sting. WOOSTAR Motorcycle 420-14T Front Sprocket 20mm for 50cc 70cc 90cc 110cc 125cc Dirt Pit Bike Mini Bike ATV 4 Wheeler Moped a.co/d/hdJ8LZF
I also added an RK gold racing chain for both the Rawrr Mantis and the Talaria Sting.
@@ElectroBikesusa awesome, thank you! Looking for more tq while riding enduro and woods. I dont need to run 45mph. I feel like a larger rear sprocket would help in the low speed throttle inputs, as well as conserve battery life.
Yes! Same for me! I noticed some improvement with torque and range with the Rawrr Mantis gear change! The whole thing only costs me a little under $100 USD. Hope it goes well for you!

So, I ride my mantis with my kiddo up front and between the two of us we are well over that payload limit (290 maybe?). No issues and the bike will wheelie easily. The speedo says we are doing 49 mph together but I’ve heard the speedo isn’t reliable. We did a 16mile ride the other day, sport mode smashing the entire way and the battery was only down to 62% so I think 30-35 miles at max payload plus, in sport mode the entire time doing off-road trail riding is a reasonable estimate. I picked mine up about 3 months ago and love it, but the lack of upgrades, and even replacement parts, as well as the company not responding to my emails has me pretty nervous about the longevity of the brand. I’ve seen a lot of videos slamming the mantis rawer but if you are like me, 6’3” 245 and you like that bigger screen, need a longer wheelbase, taller stand over heigh, and like the integrated light, it’s a super fun bike…I take this thing out about 3-4 times a week.
Wow! You've gotten some really good performance out of yours! Nice to hear! I like the one I got, but I didn't see past 20 miles range (in sport mode on mostly flat areas) until I changed the gearing. That helped some. So true on the speedo being off since it takes the read off the motor speed best I can tell. Mine still shows 49-50 mph after the gear change and it actually tops around 40-42mph now with the 60T sprocket on the rear. I saw some others mention not hearing back from the company. Sorry that happened to you as well. Mine had some throttling issues in sport mode prior to turning off the sensors with the panel, but after that it really did great and has been super smooth. I am so with you on the height and overall size. It (the Mantis) really is the best fit out of a lightbee X and sting for a taller rider for sure! It feels so much more planted than the smaller bikes to me. Hope you and your kid have many more safe and enjoyable adventures with the Mantis!
@@ElectroBikesusa alright so I had to know. What’s the actual speed and I assume if the speed is off then so is the trip/range. And yup, max speed was 39.9 while it read 49mph. And over the supposed 3 miles traveled according to the bike, the app said I went 2.2 miles which is a 27% variance. That’s crazy!! I still love this bike but I’m seriously glad I didn’t pay full price.
Good grief! You’re right those are huge variances! Before I changed the gearing on the Mantis, our Talaria Mx3 was seemingly getting around 50% more range from the battery, but my wife was the rider most of the time and she weighs a good 100lbs. less than me so that had to be a big factor. Glad you got a deal! Makes me wonder how bad the range could be if they do remap it to have up to 25-35% more power. That thing will drain down so fast with the stock battery I’m afraid. I really wished it’d been spec’d with a 45ah but the 72v model will probably get a better battery I imagine. I have the Admitjet armor and they read the speed and range from the front disc rotor and seem to be somewhat more accurate. I’ve seen some people add bicycle computers but I wish that nice dash display was more accurate. Thanks for sharing your findings!
@@ElectroBikesusa I actually have a cateye bike monitor so I may throw it on just to try it out. I don’t really mind the range for my area or use case but I definitely want more power, but to your point a major cut in range would be rough. Tech support finally got back to me but they won’t quote a 72v battery or timeframe for availability. I really want to learn more about that amitjet. That looks like a really cool machine…having the clutch and gearbox on a full size (or close) electric motocross bike…that’s the dream. I’d love to see a stark varg up close too but that’s way out of my price range. 80hp (or something like 65 on a dump?) on an electric bike…that sounds like a bad idea…a very good, bad idea…and definitely a permasmile to go with. Very much looking forward to seeing your future content!!
Thanks so much! I’m working on a very detailed video for the admit jet armor. I am so with you on loving the Stark Varg, but the price for me is out of the question right now. I cringed when 450cc four strokes went over $10K new. I can’t see doing $13k-$14K for an offroad bike! I hope to try and keep a door open to some level of affordability with the electric bikes. I hope the sport remains as accessible as possible in terms of price and access. Thank you for your valuable input and looking forward to adding more videos soon!
great video friend. you hit the nail on the head. did you notice that the speedo on the mantis if off? from my findings in sport when you go 49 gps actually says 39 mph. so its off about 10 mhp and the new mapping should up it like 35% from what i was told
Thank you! So good to see you on here again! I really enjoyed all of your videos during the launch for the Mantis! Yes, I definitely noticed it was off. I believe it is reading the engine speed like the Talaria. I have the AdmitJet and it actually reads the speed from a disc mounted magnet. I haven't checked to see if it is more accurate yet. I really threw off the Mantis speed with the gear change too so it definitely won't hit as fast as the speedo is reading now. OMG! 35% would make it amazing! I still wish for a larger battery and it will be golden. It's so nimble off road and easy to throw around! Do you think we'll upload the new mapping through the USB port on the dash console? I was wondering if that was just for charging a phone or if we may be able to also update firmware? Thanks!
@@ElectroBikesusa Your very welcome. NO Thank you for the kind words and support. I sincerely appreciate it. Aaaaahhh I get you that makes sense. Yeah 35 % would be lit. the 72 is in testing now from what im told. but i cant get the amp hr info . they are keeping that hush hush. idk honestly i heard eventually there will be a app, but if you still have the reprogrammer that might be it once they release the mapping. thats what i was thinking also but we have to wait to see how they do mine
@@manchildbw5771 That's true! I still have the panel and can probably just upload from the app. I saw the 72v prototype on their Instagram page. That bike has a massive looking motor on it! I bet we'll see some big numbers when they release that one. Riding the bigger bike makes me appreciate the lightweight of the mantis in comparison. It definitely is easier to live with on the day to day. Thanks for the information!
@@ElectroBikesusa lucky I never got 1. I went to the warehouse. wait what Instagram post had the 72? oh yeah i bet. can you please run down the regen on the bike for me i cant figure it out
@@manchildbw5771 I heard the regen only works in eco modes but on average I have heard regen on most of the bikes might only account for 1-2% in recharge. Not sure of the exact numbers for this model though, but in eco 1-3 the regen function should be automatic is what I have come to understand about it. I saw the Instagram pictures when they were at the trade shows with the prototpye street model and also a TH-cam influencer had some good footage in his video of the 72v bike too.
Lots of interesting and useful information! Are you going to review other bikes too?
Definitely will! Thanks for watching! More to come!
Wow! Very in depth! This guy knows everything about this bike!
Thanks so much for the kind words and for taking the time to watch! I’m sure I missed plenty of details, but I made a promise to myself to keep it under the 30 minutes mark! Lol
