Thanks for your feedback and comment. This is a good bike. The windscreen is helpful if you are going to drive for a distance at the speed of 60km/h or 40mph. However if you just want it for off road, you may not want it. Having said that, in my opinion, it makes the bike looks better :)

It is part of the package. You don't have to buy it separately. Maybe this is the part number PT228-48204
Great video. What about the wire harness connection. I got some module but no instructions
It is located close to the hitch. You just need to plug it in.
@@amirpoa thanks, I found that connection. There is also some module that came in a small box. I had to open the drivers side rear seat panel to get access to the connector

My towing package just arrived, I planned to install by myself on my 2023 Highlander XSE, the dealer didn’t said nothing about remove the rear bumper.
Hi Juan, Once you install the OEM hitch, you will notice that the one that is on the car, can't be used any longer and you have to use the one that has come within the package. If yours is not OEM, then that is a different story. You can install it with the existing bumper, however, it would be lower. If you are a handyman, you don't need to follow all the steps in this video. We did it based on the instructions. After completing the job, we realized there is a quicker way too.
Did you install yet? I just bought the OEM trailer hitch for our 2023 Highlander Platinum, I don't have any instructions but looks to be pretty straight forward. Not planning to remove the upper bumper cover. Curious what the bolt torque spec is though.

Can you install the hitch without bumper cover removal?
The original bumper should be replaced with another one which is provided in the package, so the answer is, yes you can, however, it won't work very well at the end. The old bumper will cover the hitch opening if you don't install the new one. I hope that answers your question.

Can this be done by trimming the old bumper cover ? That way you don’t have to take off the bumper and you don’t need to buy the extra lower cover ?
Well... yes you can and you may not :) You buy the towing package as a whole and the bumper comes with it. Unless you get it from a scrap yard, then you can save on the bumper.

wow, thats a lot of work and disassembling. Back in 2015 i put a hitch on my santa fe xl. all i had to do was drop the spare and and that was it.
Hello- can someone please tell me what you guys did with the bumper cover? Do I have to cut into the bumper cover to fit the hitch??? Or a new had to be order???
Hi Steph, No you don't have to cut into the bumper. The towing/hitch package comes with the bumper and all you need to complete this task.
Good lord. I just finished installing mine with my son in about 2 hours. It would take 30 minutes if I had to do it again and only had to remove the underside baffles. Wow.
So you really only need to remove the underside baffles and that's about it?

I don't see the need of removing the whole bumper after seeing hom putting everything back in place. Seems like there is a cover that you have to remove to access where you mount the hitch but I could be wrong.
You are right, there was no need and we learnt that after the fact.
You don't have to do all of that. I just did my mine and took off only the mud covers underneath. You can get your hand behind the bumper to get the 6 white clips off without taking the lights and bumper cover off. The tire is not in the way either.
I guess i’ll try to do it your way too, its less risky on break anything but a bit of a challenge to reach those hand to the tabs

Hi Pawel, That is about correct. I am in Toronto/Canada and the price is $1,361.25 plus tax installed. Considering the exchange rate, if $1000 installed, seems to be correct. If you find someone as I did and get it installed for you, it would be cheaper and it takes about 2.5 hours to complete the job.

I have used it for bicycles rack to take my 4 bikes. I have not towed anything with it yet, however, I hope it works for that too :)

@@amirpoa my dealership told me along with that you need harness screws and also another number to replace it so overall 4 parts . You think that’s true for 2021 xse?
@@shahirsikder3389 Hi Shahir, I really don't know. What I can tell you is that 2020 and 2021 are the same. So if I didn't do it, most likely you don't need it either. I have the required items listed as well in the video.

I guess not as it requires to support opening the trunk automatically. Best bet is to check with your dealer.

Hi Amir jan. Thanks for the video. I am going to have a dealer approved shop install this for me but still not sure what happens to the cover. Does the order come with bumper cover, that you said wasn’t delivered in time, already or you had to buy that separately? The shop told me they will cut mine to fit, is that case ?

Thanks for the video! I just installed a hitch receiver on my 2020 Highlander XLE and came across this video. I had trouble finding the instructions but finally found them here: www.toyotanation.com/attachments/accessory-installation-instrucution-template-2004-pdf.300817/. They can also be found by searching for: "Accessory Installation Instruction Template - Part Numbers:PT228-48200". Also, when I did my installation, I did not have to take the tail-lights completely out so anyone else that comes across this video might want to consider that.
