Oregon Bird Footage Jun '24
Various birds seen in Oregon during our trip to Black Butte Ranch. I'm a big fan of the tree swallow, but the baby killdeer was very fun to watch as well :)

Unedited footage of various backyard birds seen in Vancouver. Filmed with Nikon Coolpix P530. Black capped chickadee, house finch, red shafted flicker, goldfinch, American crow, and a Western tanager!
Beautiful Black Oystercatchers (plus bonus)
มุมมอง 144หลายเดือนก่อน
Black oystercatchers having a real fun time with the river on a Northern California beach within the Redwood national parks. I'm a big fan of black oystercatchers, they are very regal birds in my opinion. A quick shot of a Bonaparte's gull (my first time photographing one! It's a shame this one was very shy), as well as a barn swallow at a nearby nature center. 6/10/24

Aquarium of the Pacific Visit June 2024

I got some random footage of some of my favorite aquarium inhabitants :) I tried my best to list the common name of each animal shown, except when there's large numbers of different animals at once.

Grunion Run April 2024
มุมมอง 6004 หลายเดือนก่อน
The grunion come to spawn on beaches along the California coast during high tide at night from March through August. They lay their eggs in the sand and they incubate for about a month. Being out of the water allows the eggs to avoid certain predators until they hatch, and when the next high tide comes they will float back into the sea.
Mallard Ducklings

Very numerous little family of ducks, with a cameo from an old coot. Mom is very attentive to the little ones, but pop is there too! He makes an appearance near the very end of the vid.
Sweet Little Mourning Dove

How big do Triops get? What do you feed them? Are they used as fish food in aquariums? Such curious creatures!
1. Triops can get up to 3 inches long depending on the species! Most types are smaller though. 2. You feed them just about anything, I started mine with bacteria and algae, moved up to carrot slices, and when it got big enough to be in the larger aquarium I started feeding sinking fish food. They are omnivores and designed to eat pretty much whatever they can get their tiny hands on. 3. They are not usually used as fish food because their bodies are mostly shell, and many other easier to raise options (like brine shrimp) being much more common. Some people actually tried to grow them as food for people living in harsh environments and remarked that they generally were not very palatable.
@@csnake9184 Thank you! They are fascinating!
@@valerier.2685 they are omnivores so you can feed them anything, but gihg protein+chitin fish food is best so they grow fast. Use shallow tank with large diameter to hatch them, because food drops to the bottom and if the tank is too deep, the larvae can't dive that far down and starve. They eat a lot and grow like crazy, shedding 3x / day. Adults can be 3 inches long and look like little horrors but are actually harmless. If you forget to feed them they'll eat each other though. No wonder they survived for 300 millino years.
