Dec 7 2024 Willow Springs POC Red Cup Race with Captions
Saturday Red Cup Race at Willow Springs with the Porsche Owners Club. This is my first provisional race on my new Cup license so my only goal is to finish and not get in anyone's way. Also, my car had an ABS failure this morning and badly flat-spotted my new slicks so I have an extreme vibration and very little cornering grip comparatively. Just get through it. Unfortunately on the white-flag last lap, my suspension snapped at 100mph when I hit the brakes for turn 3 and I went straight off. I'm fine.

4th session of the day set my fastest time for the day. Video starts in Turn 8/9 of lap before, then into Lap 2 is a 1:26.2. Porsche Carrera GTS 997.2 complete racecar build but stock brakes, engine and PDK, runs in the GT3 class for POC race series. Yokohama slicks in Medium compound, but with 4 hard race/training days on them, probably 15 heat cycles so not at their best. Car pretty dialed in...

Porsche Owners Club race at Willow Springs, May 24-25 2024. First timed session for the open-passing TT group. Last timed session on a hot Sunday afternoon, and Hoosier slicks were well worn so the hot track was slippery. Porsche Owners Club weekend at Buttonwillow March 9-10, 2024. 2011 Porsche Carrera GTS with full racecar prep, stripped, caged, suspension. Stock brakes and engine. GT3 class in club, in the Open Passing TT. Best time for the session in GT3 but I think later in the day someone went faster.

DK Racing School session on Friday of the 2023 Socal Snowmageddon panic. Instructors at the school with 30 years’ experience at Willow had never seen snow on the track but we had it for our 7am trackwalk. Improved to just rain later but stayed low 40’s and varying wetness all day so it was tricky, especially for an amateur in a high horsepower car.

Damn, that Corvette is fast.
