Omg I watched this video this morning then hit uworld (about to take step 2), and just got a question right cuz of you! Spoiler alert for anyone doing questions (and without violating Uw rules lol)… a guy was in hospital for bacterial endocarditis, few days into his stay he had epigastric pain, plus symptoms that can take you in so many directions… opioid withdrawal, alcohol withdrawal, pancreatitis, etc. They all sounded pretty good, but then I saw mesenteric ischemia and BAM!! Thanks!
Let’s goooooo! Happy this short little clip was helpful! Sometimes the quick points stick the best :)
Nice concept, very important to keep in mind
Thanks! Something we use often on the vascular surgery service
Awesome... I wish you continue to make more biochem / anatomy videos for usmle. Not much information available in general.
Thanks!! I have 100’s of hours of content within our coaching programs :) I just don’t post much on TH-cam
You are the best teacher ...keep it up. Amazing videos you make.
Thank you! 😃 means a lot!!
Hey Dr P, Just a slight input I think pulsus paradoxus has something to do with the pulse(pulse strength) When you have decreased pulse strength/intensity (ie your pulse becomes feeble) {tested on uwsa1}
Ofc as you said in the video the blood pressure goes down So ofc the pulse will be more feeble, But i just thought to share this!
@@marishasudani7797nice thoughts thx!
I suffer with edema and potty all night. Which does thst indicate?
Thank you!
Happy to help! :)
This is a big issue , sometimes I find myself going into TH-cam watching a 1 hour or many minutes videos at yhe end probably retaining 10 percent . It is frustrating when seeing posts saying 3 blocks a day or 4 and upped to 5 makes yiur studying look inferior. Thanks for this advice
@@alexgrandizer2185 happy to help!
love your reviews I watch them at the end of my studying as a quick review. Take step 2ck in about 2 weeks!!
Fingers crossed for u, crush it! Love to hear that!!
This was super helpful! Thanks, Doc! Could you please do more of these esp on the new NBMEs 13 and 14? Thank you so much :)
Yes! I won't be releasing them on TH-cam, but feel free to check out the Secret Archives if you want more content like this :)
Especially treat the nurses with respect. Bring them a treat if you can once in a while (nothing big -a plate of brownies; some store bought cookies) and they will help you to the ends of the earth. Threat them like they are your slaves and you will have an unforgettable residency - especially when you’re on call at night. Just sayin’ 😁
Haha nice tips :)
Under point 9 ,under option D u mean constrictive pericarditid right? Better with leaning forward. You mentioned acute pericarditis
What are some of the stereotypes of vascular surgeons? my mentor told me I have “vascular vibes” and when I asked what’s that mean he said to google it. I tried but couldn’t find much other than “masochiatic” which I kinda am tbh 😂
Eh I wouldn’t even worry about it haha in general, vascular surgeons r the surgeons that are called when other surgeons/proceduralists need help. The fixers 💪
@@ActionPotentialMentoring no please tell me more 😭don’t make me scour the depths of SDN 😂
@@ActionPotentialMentoring I shadowed a vascular surgeon once, but he was doing a diabetic amputation, I had no clue you guys did this type of stuff? perhaps it’s just because were a smaller community Hospital? I’ll be honest I kind of slept on vascular, but I’m learning there’s a lot more to the specialty than I originally assumed.
it’s one of the most wide scope specialties. Arterial, venous, lymphatics, aneurysms, dissections, atherosclerosis, etc. so much to do! Also, for context to your question: I’m about to start my last year of residency and have done over 100 amputations. It’s def something we do!
@@ActionPotentialMentoring whoa 😮did you ever consider cardiothoracic? what is your favorite procedure? (I’m gonna look to see If there’s a fulll length video here on YT for me to watch.) good luck with the rest of your residency!
Hi, thank you! I just had a question on uwolrd also that described the radiographic finding as bony sclerosis instead of describing it as osteoblastic and it was mets prostate cancer.
So glad it was helpful!
Keep em coming, good tips
On amboss the answer was no
NBME confirmed recently that NSAIDs are first line for OA and not tylenol unless the pt has kidney problems or upper GI problems.
I’m aware. They’ve went back & forth multiple times. This is straight out of nbme 12 tho as the title of the video suggests :)
loved this!!! thanks a ton !!!
super helpful!!! Thank you!!!
Can you give the contact number of sir? Because I am speaking from Bangladesh. I used to discuss the problem. So I want to come to India for treatment.
Is virchow node not same as left supraclavicular node?
F
the thing is, dog bites hurt hell of alot more 🤣
Hii Austin, thanks so much for this! One q: could MVP be included with HOCM as a murmur that gets quieter with increased preload and increased afterload?
came to comments for this. yeah i think so
What is your opinion of a hemoglobin of 12? When I went to medical school 12 was just fine.
Great Video! Just a doubt, cauda equina syndrome is supposed to be unilateral right?
I did this with two of my blood test, the first one i had it said i had 11 which indicated Thalassemia Beta but after taking iron a few months and retook the test, i did the mentzer again and it said i had 16 (iron deficiency). So maybe i have Thalassemia with iron deficiency?
Could be possible!
Recently had a question that asked what to measure in someone who had resection of medullary thyroid cancer: answers included calcitonin and thyroglobulin Answer was calcitonin Measure Thyroglobulin for papillary and follicular
Thanks❤
So if someone is under 35 if it's acute someone has 100% sti? Not e coli or staphylococcus etc??
Nothing is 100% always
Great video! In one of your previous videos you said you give Ibrutinib cll but in this one you said fludarabine. Is there one that is better than the other?
Both are tested options on NBME and are good options. They usually won’t be both as answer choices in the same question!
Awesome! Thank you!
Which software you used for MCAT exam
I don’t remember. My mcat was > 10 years ago
amazing video! Just have 1 doubt I didn’t understand the vortioxetine point In dementia we usually want more cholinergic effect But vortioxetine is anticholinergic?
Thanks for the advice Dr. Price!
