The African Catholic Ministry of the Diocese of St. Petersburg (Florida, United States) extends a hand of support to vulnerable children in Africa.
The project aimed at supporting vulnerable children, half or double orphans, who cannot afford basic education supplies for their school. The Zambian government has launched a literacy project intending to provide better education to the Zambian people. However, the government does not fund all the school necessities. Thus, this project aimed to cover some of the school utilities that vulnerable children cannot afford.
Ms. Kunda Nyendwa, a young Zambian musician, and Peter Banda managed to identify 10 children who are faced with financial challenges due to the loss of parents or whose guardians are unable to provide the school necessities for these children. We identified these children from different parts of Lusaka’s urban and rural areas. In our research, we discovered that most of these children needed more school necessities than we could provide with the limited resources we had.
The Impact of the Project
We successfully provided school supplies for the entire academic year 2024 to the 10 children. The comprehensive support extended beyond the necessities, ensuring that each child is well-equipped for their educational journey.
