Spex•Lite® SHOCKINGLY Beats Traditional Sand in Comparison!
While sand is a very common filler because it's cheap and readily available, it isn't always the best filler for formulated systems, most often due to its hazardous free silica. Here are the two best sand alternatives provided by Spex•Lite® Fillers - both of which don't have the dangerous free silica, are easy to handle and save weight for worker safety and lower unit shipping costs!
Spex•Lite® 2511 RFA:
*20% lighter weight than sand
*90% less absorptive
*Recycled
*Most sand-like performance but without the hazard warnings
Spex•Lite® 9185:
*75-80% lighter weight than sand
*Non-hazardous!
Best for extreme weight savings
In summary, SpexLite provides the best sand alternatives and lightweight sand offsets!

    How about the spex lite compared to a regular bean fill?

    • @spexlite
      @spexlite 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In which ways? SpexLite isn't a food source so it won't get moldy when wet or attract rodents who could eat through your bag to get food. SpexLite has fills many times lighter than bean fill, as well as heavier. Please let us know what you're looking for and we are happy to provide recommendations. • @spexlite
      @spexlite 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chillmaster14 Great question. GitLite is a great product. The difference is SpexLite offers different size and weight products. The SpexLite 5064 is about 1mm larger, ~2.5x lighter and a little more compressible. We have heavier particles about 2-3x heavier, rigid particles of different shapes that are rigid (cylindrical and pancake), and we offer a heavy sand that's about 9x heavier than GitLite. You might want to try mixing and matching SpexLite with GitLite to get the advantages of both in your bag. What are you looking to get out of your bag fill?

    What is the best way to fill a bag with these things? I tried straight out of the bag and half went everywhere, they are very light and static electricity is strong on these things I could not fill the bag to the level I wanted and made a mess with these things flying all over the place. Advice?

    • @spexlite
      @spexlite ปีที่แล้ว

      @testos2701 Thank you for your order of Spex•Lite®. I'm sorry the filling process has been not as you would have hoped. Given how lightweight they are, we recommend not filling a bag nearby fans, breezes, etc. and using a metal funnel or an improvised funnel using paper, cardboard, magazine, etc. and then using a wooden dolly/spoon or the like to push more in / get a tight fill to your desired level. If there is static, you can spray the beads with a generic anti-stat spray, or a mix of water and a few drops of dish soap. Since your SpexLite Beads won't absorb the water, the soap will mitigate the static and the water will evaporate off quickly. Again, thank you for your business; we hope this helps! Have a great day.

    What is the difference between expanded polystyrene and expandable polystyrene and do you carry both?

    • @spexlite
      @spexlite ปีที่แล้ว

      Expandable polystyrene is the raw polymer feedstock with an expansion agent and is much smaller and heavier than Expanded Polystyrene. When you take the raw feedstock (expandable polystyrene) and expand them to a much lower density, you get Expanded Polystyrene. We sell Expanded Polystyrene. Thank you for your comment! • @spexlite
      @spexlite 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We agree; sand is good but it has several drawbacks including its prohibitive weight. For you, the right Spex•Lite® Lightweight Shooting Bag Fill depends on your desired feel and application. For comparable performance as sand, most shooters either go with our Spex•Lite® 5125 (can be ordered at WieBad here: wiebad.com/spex-lite-5125-light-weight-fill/) or our Spex•Lite® 1018R. For comparison, Spex•Lite® 5125 is approximately 2.5 mm and 10 pounds per cubic foot, and Spex•Lite® 1018R is smaller (~1.4 mm) and heavier (~46 pcf) than Spex•Lite® 5125. Both SpexLite options offer great weight savings compared to sand, are non-dusty and do not absorb water like sand. Both Spex•Lite® Fill options are extremely durable and setup well in most bags. @WALTER GURA thanks for the info. What type rear bag are you using to get those results. My quest for a very firm, yet easily manipulated bag continues.

      @WALTER GURA thanks. I have a couple rear bags: can shaped, flat style and a tall Crosstac and while they each work good at certain times, I haven’t found that Goldie Locks bag yet. I used to use a over stuffed Wiebad Fortune cookie a lot and it worked great until I took beads out to make it better on obstacles. Now it’s too floppy to use as a rear bag. I’m going to order some of this and try it in the bags I have now. Maybe it will take one, or all of them to a new level.

    Soooo, in order to make it cost effective I have to buy 4 bags and fill them. How about weighing rice, which is what I use. And its really cheap in bulk.

      Thanks for the note! The rice we weighed from the grocery store is about 50.5 pounds per cubic foot, which is about -50 times heavier than one of our ultra light shooting bag fillers (Spex•Lite® 5524), and -5 times heavier than our medium weight filler (Spex•Lite® 5125). Yes, rice is cheap, but it is also heavy, and it also tends to absorb water out in the field and expand, which could bust the seams of your bag. If you would like to save weight and not worry about potential moisture and expansion issues, we'd love for you to try Spex•Lite® Lightweight Shooting Bag Fillers and let us know what you think.

    Which of these fillers have you used, and what was your experience?

      I use a bags of one pound bag of pinto beans and leave the beans in the plastic bag. I make the outer bag from the legs of old worn out jeans. My jeans and my wife's jeans. (she has smaller legs) I made a set of two large bags, two medium size bags and one small bag for under the butt plate.

      Hi Tom, thank you for the comment! Keeping your pinto beans in the bag is an interesting approach to mitigate the negative effects of any moisture interacting with the beans. Pinto beans are about 20 times heavier than our most popular shooting bag filler, and we'd love to get your feedback on how our SpexLite Lightweight Shooting Bag Fillers compare to pinto beans. Please contact us at 440-462-1500.
