Also, a strategy question first followed by unrelated suggestion "technically" The wood you lost from repairing the market is HUGE. So i was wondering what if you made 1 single archer "or maybe even 2" in feudal age to push them off your market? I would say the 1-2 archers would still cost you much less and would prevent him from pushing into your walls for a while. Finally, for the pallisade gate i noticed you building it constantly recently. So i would suggest to you building a few tiles of pallisade walls IN FRONT of the pallisade gate leaving only one tile to hit the gate. Which will : 1- allow your units to freely go out 2-prevent enemies from sneaking in when a unit goes out 3- limit the surface to attack the gate by melee units making it MUCH tankier than pallisade walls. 4- it would also be much easier for you to wall behind it if needed.

Hello bro, to free your scout and try to kill a vil with it as you hit feudal. at 3:37 the position of the last deer and the berries/mill i would suggest that with the fast mongols gathering rate it would probably have been super worth to just send the same 3 berries villagers to get that deer and back. Usually as mongols and goth it feels worth to do such a thing if berries and the last deer are on the same side since that mongols gathering rate of 40% faster will easily off set the very short travel time in this situation

19:15 Red seemed to cease vill production when Blue's castles went up (to get to Imp I guess) whereas Blue continued vill production. Perhaps if Red didn't rush to Imp he could've won through better economy a bit later on?

19:36 just an unpopular opinion here, since your knights will stomp the pikes easily i would assume that using the skirms to snipe the monks would have been the optimal move there. also, just a remark and tell me what do you think about it. regarding you going skirms in fuedal. going skirms costs us a little bit of an investment which can be used to upgrade scouts instead, and a fully upgraded sicilian scout kills a spear even in 1 vs 1 as long as the spear does not get all blacksmith upgrades which most ppl end up not doing until it's over for their spears. so i usually when i see spears coming out by enemy after i got a few scouts out i just keep going on scouts since his spears would all end up dying for nothing. that said, sicilian scout wins vs a spear only if the scout is fully upgraded and the spear has zero ugprades which is usually the case since ppl are not used to the idea that even damage buff can tip the scale in a spear vs scout fight. i do think that the best way to respond to sicilian scouts is archers actually in general.

14:41 I think this game was a lot closer than it seemed. If Blue was 30 secs later with armour and / or Red 30 secs earlier with bodkin, Red's 20 xbow could have dealt with low knight numbers and it snowballs the other way.

Hey Survivalist! A query (or two): Around 15:10, blue has three stables and two TCs with 21 farmers and 12 gold miners and you mention the option of building a third TC. Is the third stable just to quickly spend all the res blue had banked in feudal? He's barely able to afford knights from two stables when the game ends and the 2nd TC is idle a bunch. Do you still prefer getting the TCs down before farms? Or is the idea to transition away from knights after you do damage since at that point the economy can support one or the other but not both?

As a Magyars player, I got to learn alot from this one. Thanks Surv! I'm gonna use the whole Knight spam timing vs the extreme AI and see how it pans out. After a few attempts, I shall play some ranked.

Long message here cuz too much strategy talks 😂😂but i have to say that people actually have the wrong idea about mameluke vs camels matchup. Mamelukes decent melee damage and range means if you have mass mamelukes, with micro many mamelukes will hit for every camel rider. Mamelukes also fo 10-11 damage to camels in imp per hit "their base damage after armor" In other words if microed so that 3 mamelukes hit for every camel mamelukes are not inferior. Furthermore, survivalist's idea of using pikemen as meat shield is actually very good in that scenario too. Also, if a saracen player manages to use the market to boost his total gold throughout the game, then one can easily manage mamelukes + arbs combo. Finally, i've tried wll the above before but i also tried something super unique before, if you have mamelukes + cav archers, the mamelukes will alwaya take the front which means the a mass of CA and mameluke mix will have the whole max shooting at the same time "mamules first 2 lines with their shirt range for example and CA the 2 next lines with their long range" Which is extra nice because parthian tactics is low priority with mamelukes tanking in front.

Survivalist, the other guy's comment made me realize it would be super nice to have you make a simple video showing us your gaming setup in terms of it's effect on your gameplay and micro.

4:45 @survivalist Some civs can open cav archers so efficiently, i did it with malians many times before since the 10% gold bonus and wood savings open up for a fast CA creation. Sadly their imp CA sucks hard but their strong stablea makes for a very strong followup thereafter especially that blacksmith upgrades on CA in castle are not wasted "since you would need skirms to support the cavs generally" and no one ever expects malians CA . And some other civs can do it as a random surprise kinda techi actually did it twice with goths , jut made 7 CA once where they just defended my base with their mobility vs random csstle age Light cavs raid. I know it id weird but i like out of the box weird strats.

What is the +2 upgrade in castle age?

When playing skirmishers against britons, he always adds in a few onagers and then it becomes very hard to deal with it.

This game is why I’m enjoying the Britons as someone who was away from the game for 20+ years. They’re versatile and if played right, can take a beating and keep on fighting!

I wouldnt say sarqcens has "no eco bonus late" in the sense that if you go very heavy on gold units with saracens you will end up with 4-8k more gold after all gold is depleted. But i agree that he needed mamelukes here.

Sub 19xx games are all about force-picking. Especially when playing against Asian / South American folks. So mirror matchups are unfortunately common.

Hi Surv, one thing I’ve been struggling with lately is to find the option/toggle for the hunt decay indicator that shows right above the boar/deer etc. this would help me understand the gathering better. Any idea where to find this in the options?

Rams, Arbs, and Pikes are a hard combo to beat

Make a ram that infantry can use. 2 militia can use a ram, built in the ram not quite as strong as battering rax, less pierce armour too. Or make a 'ram cart' that takes as long as 2 militia to train. In the rax also.
