This channel is best described as " TRAINS-PLANES-and AUTOMOBILES" . If any of the afore mentioned interest you stop in and take a look. Having retired from the railroad after 35 years you will find both video and still photos taken over the years "at the office". For aviation fans there are a few clips of WW2 warbirds and last but not least a great deal of automobile related racing, historic and club footage of everthing from Ferraris to MGtypes.
Coast Guard Governors Is 1967 1997
I served on Governors Island in The US Coast Guard . The island had been an army base "Fort Jay" during WW2. The still photo were taken by myself during my tour 1967-1971. the video clips were taken in 1997 during a civilian tour, i found much had changed my old barracks was gone. i worked in the district mailroom and served as duty driver for Captain McMullen as well as Admiral Whelan if needed. Im 2 years away from 80, not sure how many of the Coasties i served with are still out there.

The United States Army parachute team " The Golden Knights " put on a masterful display of courage and professionalism at the practice session for the Memorial Day Airshow at Jones Beach State Park in New York. I have not altered the video in any way, the event organizers chose Lee Greenwoods recording of Proud to be an Amercan as the backdrop for the first jump. I feel it was perfect!
LIRR Eastbound passing Nassau tower, nice whistle
มุมมอง 6066 ปีที่แล้ว
Description A short clip. While dinning at the Davenport Press in Mineola I caught an Eastbound push pull with the 418 head out leaving the station at Mineola passing the Nassau tower at the Main Street crossing. A great deal of activity here I believe its a switching point off the Ronkonkoma Line for the Port Jeff branch which would explain the dual mode loco.

RARE 30 year old video of McDonalds Blimp Republic Airport 1986
Roger Penske had retired from driving and was hired by Hall as team manager. Success at Sebring demonstrated Penske's management skills. Hall was testing a 3 speed torque converter gearbox. It was manually shifted. There was no neutral, so the cars were started in gear. Initially, they raced a single speed transaxle, which debuted at Laguna Seca in May of 1964. Hall battled with Dave MacDonald in his Lang Cooper, eventually pulling away from Dave. Penske finished 3rd in the second Chaparral, using a conventional Colotti gearbox. I attended the '65 race, watching from the fence opposite of where you were filming at turn 1.
Fellow car nerds, assist me for a second: is this a Colombo V12, or a different model?
I was living in Lake Grove…. I remember the trees and wires down everywhere and no school or power for 8 days! Crazy…
I was in Hartford at my mother's workplace, a hotel, and we were able to walk outside as the eye was passing over. It was amazing to see massive winds, then nothing. After standing outside for maybe 10 minutes, we went back in and the winds started back up full force. It was amazing to experience. Now I live in FL and maybe they're not quite so amazing anymore, lol.
Fascinating content in this video (the music is a major detractor, though)...I discovered this video via a random "Pennsylvania Tunnel & Terminal Railroad" search. Living on Long Island well into my adult years (and a railfan, "to boot"), the anticipation of seeing Sunnyside Yard enroute to Penn Station on the LIRR never "got old". Gigantic "Building 2" was most prominent...truly an icon of this immortal PRR landmark, designed and built by men of incredible genius. Re: those bricks you saved, back in that era from which they came, foundries embossed their bricks with unique signature names...a common practice (back then). Thank you for sharing these wonderful images.👍👍
I went to EVERY Major event on the Lime Rock Schedule from when I was 13yo till I was 30yo. Very nice video.
Very interesting. Especially the dated rails
Enjoyable for me too!
This is great!!! Thank you ! 🛳️🛳️ I was on the QEII 🛳️sailing from Southampton to New York during Hurricane Gloria. 🌊 🌀 We actually were caught in the eye of the storm, which was unbelievable…we heard the wind, the waves were so loud and then the eeriest silence ! We sailed right through the storm. 35 foot waves, crushing several areas on the top. the ship’s restaurants were dual class, the first class on top and second floors below, and during the storm, the lower restaurant became flooded and in first class, the waiters put damp tablecloths on our tables so our dishes, glasses etc wouldn’t slip. !!! The plus side , in first class we were given all the caviar we could eat, shrimp, steak , champagne flowed. It was amazing. And everyone working on the ship, although we could tell were terrified like we were, were so attentive and helpful. I took videos and hope to find them. It was years ago. I was in a suite on the highest floor, I think 11th, or maybe one below the top. When our ship was dipping due to the waves of the hurricane, our deck was at the same level as the waves 😳😳😳 I held on to doors, the built in desk, anything to keep from falling into the ocean. It was so scary. Apparently the ship did not have stabilizers. And later we all learned, the same ship was used during Desert Storm…with stabilizers! I sat with Florence Shubert, who took me under her wing. She actually lived on the ship for months at a time. (Which I thought was the coolest thing!)
Always fun to see these “in period” videos. A different time as they say.
Now this is a surprise, but definitely a welcome one. Whether it's Bridgehampton or Sunnyside yard, I enjoy your content's lense back into history. Good to see you're still uploading!
A great explanation. Too bad digital wasn't in existence at the time.
That’s a keeper, thanks for sharing this stuff.
How about the old turn table by the engine house
When I hired in 77 the turn table was locked in position and at times we would set out coaches or mu pairs when making drill moves
In retrospect it's amazing to think that double block "behind" the Post Office never got built over until the 2010s. Every time I go into Penn Station, even now, I expect to break into daylight for that one block between 10th and 9th Avenues. No matter how many times it doesn't happen, I still expect it to happen on the next trip. Memory is a funny thing.
Fascinating! You are very fortunate to have had access to those beautiful cars. Greetings from Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Would be much better with audio from the race. The music is just plain stupid
interesting info on these relics well kept. Thanks for sharing it.
I like all your content. Keep it up.
great ride
Now it never snows in NYC and now they are planning to build over sunnyside yard one day
Well done on the video. The railroad I love the snow I can do without.
Is this the race where the all time track record was set at 43.1 seconds?
Well done sir do you still live on long Island? Would love to pick your mind I have been working there for the past 9 years
Brought back memories, worked at Sunnyside 1973 to 1979.Have pictures of my own.Worked on 100 series MU’s then the new GE 500’s.Had a great time working there but Amtrak did not look like a long time good retirement decision.Have the belt buckle they gave me when Amtrak-Conrail came into existence.
apparently the cutoff was demolished/abandoned back in 2017, I get the double tracked part was in the way of the LIRR Yard extension at Sunnyside, but what about the single tracked portion, why was it it abandoned?
I'm a retired MNRR GCT Yard Engineer. I loved the yard moves and my GCT crew. I miss it. I even got qualified in Penn and the Hells gate to run the Meadowlands football train. I've been on those Amtrak FL9s, we had them in GCT 1n 1980 for the Empire. Great video!
I was 13 years old and living in Westbury. I was so excited to get the day off school. I remember watching my dad tape up all the windows. I also remember playing with my friends outside during the eye of the storm (and when it was over).
"Yeah, they bend til they break." Lol love it! Awesome home footage! Thank you ❤
Underrated! Great commentary!
31 years in SSY , love you vids
NJT still has those MU's in service.
31 years and 6 to go.
Jeffery Where are the still shots you took in the 70's?
Hey Mike Good to hear from you! Still photos? If I may quote the late Jimmy Durante👃, I got a million of em! B&W the old wheel track, R Tower, Q tower GG1s on the pit, the X tracks in New York. People? Dave’s Barnes , Jim Perez , Mark Kenny, Pete rush, Mike debit even one of you! A number of shots were used in the making of various videos most everything is in a 5TB EXTERNAL DRIVE. Georgia had some photos of the yard which must have dates from the 1920s , no catenary but 3rd rail and a horse drawn wagon seen crossing 39th street bridge . Your old email address doesn’t work drop me a note at jbp51mgb@aol.com. Once a moth the codgers meet for breakfast in Babylon. Carney, Caruso, the Guida brothers, Nick Volpe (93yrs old) John and Georgia hope this finds you well Jeff
I miss those old buildings.
Do you have videos of ivy city Washington DC before high speed train.
Thanks from ivy city Washington DC
Amazing pictures of magical time in racing. Love the picture of my orange/blue 77 March next to Danny Sullivan
lime rock?
Wow! I’ve never seen video of a turbo liner. How did I miss this video? Glad I come back and re-watch them all the time 😂 Hope you are well, sir.
I always come back to re-watch most of your train content, and some of the other content too. It is fascinating to look at the changes in landscape and the prep work of east side access then, and now. Also, that tower looks super cozy haha. Some awesome photos and things in there. I have to imagine you have additional footage you haven’t released yet?
Jeffrey!
SKIPPY! How’s life treating you, retired yet? This will be my tenth year retired, my son Chris is working daylight at high speed and is in his 26th year. I get together with some of the guys once a month,John Caruso,Sal Guida bill carney and Nick Volpe (92) always good to hear fro old friends
Thanks for posting this. I raced motorbikes there a few times and it was fun matching these shots up with my memories from the on track view. Cheers.
Music is very abrasive and make the interesting commentary difficult to listen to. Nice stills, videos, and narrative
Nothing like trains and race cars! Just realized Lime Rock isn't so far from NYC. Even closer than Watkins Glen international.
Oh my..sounds like Jeffrey..good man.wirked with him frequently through the years
Bill Good to hear from you! I retired in 2013 after slight stroke. No lasting I’ll effects turned 76 last July. Still keep in touch with some of the guys once a month for breakfast. Caruso, Nick Volpe (92), Sal Guida, Bill Carney, Rocky, Adam Nowiki. The railroad videos are quite popular, many buffs world wide glad you liked them. My son has 26 years at Amtrak be well
@@tfman54 good to hear your doing well..I also,am good physically..say hello to all at breakfast...going to check these out😁
i miss winter :(
I thought I heard R Tower got remote controlled by Q Tower not too long ago, and I know they tore down R Tower. Is this a new building with controls for R?
Glad you were able to capture all these photos and videos for posterity; it's a great look in to how it was. I'm wondering if you or any of your colleagues would also happen to have information, possibly a list of locations, on the old fire alarm system in Penn Station, the tunnels and Sunnyside yard?
Hey is there a way you could post some of those pics of the GG1's in Sunnyside ?
