I Remember Newburgh in the '60's. Broadway Garage had great people along with others. Corner of Mill St. had good food & Geraci Food was across the street! Time has seen a lot of change. It should & could be a great city again.

It’s called white flight. Leaving behind the poor. Poor people rent from the wealthy only to have the owners not keep their properties up.

I'm from Newburgh. Grew up there in the 80's. still go back as much as I can.My fondest memories come from living there and still have many people there that I love. I have walked these streets without a care and will always consider Newburgh home. Yeah it has fallen on hard times which is a shame, but I will always love and miss this city.

What about how the ministry is in the business of homelessness..if you get acused of using narcotics and you pass the drugtest they'll still throw you out and still tell dss they suspect that person was using even tough they know by your drug test you hadn't they won't tell DSS that part so you loose everything because they get paid more money for having people coming in....they want the beds to repeat the prosses so they make money they shatter the hopes of already broken people...why don't you do a documentary on how corrupt the politicians of Newburgh are

I played bass in The Silver Byke with John Platania in 1968-69 and a few bands after that till 1970. That Fender Strat John is playing Domino, I bought that Strat at the Poughkeepsie Music Store in 1968. John saw the Strat and wanted to me to lend it to him for a couple of days and I said OK. And he still has it. Keep on Rocking my old friend.

I believe Newburgh is the worst per capita in NY However tho I hear very Often that Rochester is worse with the highest Homicide rate. 81 killings there last year. So 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

This was heartbreaking to watch, but I felt I had to do it. I was a child in the 50's and remember when urban renewal tore down the buildings in the Water Street neighborhood - deteriorated apartments and historic stores and all. It was frightening to see! I've heard a lot of stories about corrupt politicians, landlords, business owners and city workers during that time period. However, there is a growing sense of pride developing in Newburgh. There are pockets of regrowth, restoration and new businesses. SUNY Orange campus is beautiful on lower Broadway. There is a wonderful district of artists and lovely shops. Quite a few good small restaurants, the Newburgh Brewery, a beautiful riverfront of places to eat (and dance). Drive the historic areas and see the gorgeous homes restored or in process. Don't give up on it.

Really nice job on this Mark. I remember you from NFA, I was class of '70. And I could almost swear I remember someone called Animal from back around then too (?). I knew an Eillean Hughes in school. Animal's sister maybe. At any rate even though I'm only a 20 min ride from Newburgh I very rarely go there. It just makes me too depressed/mad to see what's left of my old hometown.

ANIMAL (they) city fathers, politician's destroyed HISTORIC buildings for their own good. Not long ago, they cleaned out DOWNING'S PARK, where for years people would toss in money, class rings. MUCK WAS DUMPED ON MAYOR'S PROPERTY. A FEW ITEM'S WERE SAVED, GIVEN BACK TO CITY OF NEWBURGH. WHO RECIEVED THE BULK OF THE ITEM'S THAT WERE IN THE MUCK?. NEWBURGH POLITICIANS ARE CROOKS!.

Too late to do anything for Newburgh. If Stewart Airport was built up to be the Airport Rockefeller wanted it to be, with trains from NYC to Maybrook, the build up from passenger and cargo would have made money for the surrounding areas. BUSINESSES would have profited greatly. Closed minded! politicians! and citizens! of area shut everything down. LOST OUT ON THAT PORTION OF IMPROVING, CREATING ECONOMICS AND WEALTH FOR AREA. BADDABING

Forget why the place was torn down. Is there no market demand to build on that vacant land. My mother was visiting the Hudson valley back in 1998. She asked:" please take me to Broadway in Newburgh. The shops we're so beautiful when Dad and I visited in 1957." I mentioned "Mama the area has drastically changed. I'll drive you there if you REALLY want to go but it's dangerous". Upon the approach on to Broadway, Mama burst into tears as though she lost an old friend. Through the tears Mama stated: When did this happen and why?! This was so beautiful". If Park Slope Brooklyn could see a revival SO can Newburgh NY.

Mark I loved the interviews, the music, sound was excellent and I cried when I saw Frank. This was very inciteful for all entrepreneurs. We are Renaissance people and adapt to change for survival! Nice work, Mark. When Covid closedowns were at their peak, many artists went to the Internet with streaming, live shows and taped performances to keep their music, and themselves, alive and in the public eye. The positive side of a negative situation is that I got to see many artists I was not familiar with. I kept a list of who appealed to my tastes in music and now that things are getting back to some semblance of order, I am going out to catch these acts live. In fact I have already started. The people who watch this video should do the same thing. Like what you hear and see in "Flying Solo"? Get out and catch them live!

The sad reality is that if things were just a tad bit better in NYS, namely our leadership in Albany, then a city such as this one could be benefiting immensely from the masses currently escaping the high costs of living & rising crime in NYC. Especially with the increase in wifi bandwidth now available and thus granting more and more people the ability to work remotely & raise a family, etc. A grand opportunity for NYS as a whole, but no. Sadly our governor is busy killing the elderly & disabled, and groping every skirt within arms reach instead. Lovely.

Outsourcing! Keep on electing public officials who favor and line their pockets from asinine one sided trade deals that gut our industrial might and jobs, what the hell do you expect ???

Darlene M lived there for 43 years I love 💘 to hear the history my whole family lived there but had to move because no jobs left in 1997 and things were getting bad drugs and gangs but will always remember newburgh
