Krunk shit.
Cobain'd like an opid. Fuck shits runnin they mouths, too open
broken, no emotion to cope with, steady scoping when it’s all out of focus
them grown kids seeing hope like its hopeless
with close lids, voting Trump leading locust,
the buck stops with Buckshot, gotcha open
the block's paradox, slippin in like a Trojan
explosion, frozen pipes with erosion
this notion that we fight with devotion,
all this motion hosts the spirit of the Chopin
no mopin, gropin, only stoking...

This song was probably the most important one in my life. It was my VERY FIRST time ever recording anything that I wrote and it was at a time in my life when I was gaining a social popularity that I'd never experienced before (1st year of college). Looking back, I think I was on the verge of letting go of myself completely and feeling justified about it. But linking up with Asher (who I believe...

Folks don't understand that The CULTURE that became known as HIP-HOP had NOTHING to do with ELEMENTS. It had EVERYTHING to DO with BRINGING BLACK COMMUNITIES TOGETHER THROUGH MUSIC. DJ'ING was and is THE ONLY ELEMENT. The EMCEE started out as a HYPE MAN for THE DJ. All that Grafitti, Breakdancing and other shit are ADD-ONS not ELEMENTS

I remember Mario well. We lived in the Bronxdale projects in the 1970’s. Rest in peace to a very charismatic young man. I think the video of Mario speaking was from a documentary called “violence in America” if my memory serves me correctly.

American music forms: Spirituals,, Blues, Ragtime, Jazz, Country,, Gospel, Bluegrass, Folk R&B, Rock n Roll, Doo-Wop, Soul, Funk, Disco, House and of course Rap and Hip Hop---all enjoy well documented Black American roots coupled with undeniable Black American influence---whether directly or indirectly.. Latinos -- puerto ricans particularly -- explain how you created or co-created yet another installment in the legacy of Black musical expression known as Rap and Hip Hop, yet didn't create or co-create any of the elements of the 14 or so Black American music forms that preceeded it? Or why you were nowhere to be found and absent during the creative and inventive foundation outlining the forms of Black American musical expression, brilliance and greatness throughout any of this or even prior to the 14 or so Black American music forms that are mentioned above. Yet then, all of a sudden--out of nowhere, you folks come along and falsely claim latinos and/or puerto ricans created or co-created Rap and Hip Hop 50/50 half n half (which is the evidence-free and utter nonsense being peddled by fraudsters like derrick colon, radical latino, fat joe and numerous other un-informed and envious latinos. And these of course are claims latinos never mentioned, verbalized or asserted during Rap and Hip Hop's inception during the early 1970's). Latinos/puerto rican claims of "50/50--half & half creation and co-creation just don't add up---it makes no sense and are increasingly coming under heavy scrutiny which is leading to these claims being easily debunked--as they should've been. Moreover, the hateful and many times racist criticism directed at Black American youth by the racist white media over having created Rap and Hip Hop -- latinos -- particularly puerto ricans -- and jamaicans NEVER came forward to denounce the vicious onslaught---yet 50 years later you want to take credit for this FBA art form that you did not create.

It's not easy to fund a scripted movie, and we arent looking to do a B movie. I'm still amazed that I havent been beaten to the punch yet because this era and story are undeniable, and theyre SCREAMING to be told. I believe in 2025 we'll get the right ears and minds to back us, at that point this story from Bronxdale will remain Bronxdale in heart with a soul that screams pink Cadillac that hollywood will be jealous of. AND it wont be a movie about who was FIRST. It'll be some early 70s gansta shit that the Bronx should be celebrated for!

TRUTH BE TOLD, AS A MATTER OF FACT!! HIPHOP did not start in West Bronx on Sedgwick, in a basement. It was originated by DISCO KING MARIO’s CHUCK-CHUCK CITY CREW & ZULU NATION’S AFRIKKA BAMBAATAA, in the South, far east Bronx in Bronxdale, Bronx River, Soundview, Castle Hill, 100, & crosstown’s 23 PARKS!! HIPHOP started in the street! But bcuz Mario has passed away, and Bam has gone away, Herc has claimed the fame, but I know when he got that star on the Walk/Hall of Fame, some of those tears were bcuz he knew he didn’t deserve the title. He can get credit for taking hiphop from basement into the clubs like Fever, but it started raw, literal grass-roots; tru spontaneous talent & skills, rhyming, rapping’ mixin’, scratching’, beat-boxing’, hiphop hustlin’, break-dancin’, & graffiti. It was so good all the other boroughs wanted to do it too. Hence, Queens & Brklyn rappers; but there’s a reason we’re called The Boogie-Down Bronx!! WE EARNED IT!! Now 52yrs later, it has become a culture every1 wants to be a part of. The Art now includes clothing, speaking, & socialization. So when that museum has its opening day, Herc needs to give Mario & Bam their props by naming them as truly the originators of HIPHOP. Hiphop of today isn’t as good as it was back then. It was clean fun, lyrics, no disrespect & nobody got killed. However I am proud that it has lasted as something Blacks can call their own. Kwanzaa, & now Juneteenth are the only things we as a people can claim in this country. True that music & sports are dominated and by Blacks, managers have taken them for their own gain. Even tho’ we built this country & invented most things, others have taken the credit for it. There are some black folk who have gained ownership, but HIPHOP, they can’t take from us!!

This is so cringe. It’s like an act of desperation to take credit for something you had no part in. DJ Mario didn’t isolate breaks, he just played cheesy disco records. DJ Mario didn’t incorporate any of Hip-Hop’s elements. Was he a great DJ? For sure, but not Hip-Hop. Carribean-descended black people from NYC are the true creators of this magical genre.

@@beyondabovemedia New York is a port & a harbour attracting migrant labourers from the south . Some of my family went to Carolina some to Brooklyn . Migrants took their culture with them which music , & having the best set . The most powerfullest sound system . King Tubbies never made it to the States but his obsession with amps , valves was inherited by Carribbean who settled in Brooklyn & they loved the independent northern soul & early disco . & soundsystem scene was created in Carolina Ska & rude boy blue beat was big . In the South Bronxs System owners like Kool D let Mario use his soundsystem & Mario let local bronxdale kids jump on . Carribbean were still using one turn table to mix down the mc but those kids took it further & innovated two turn tables . In the West one of King Tubbies student s a young Herc who grew up listening to URoy ..took the version excursion a JA sound tradion & developed the merry go round & would muffle n distort the base & replace the reggae with James Brown & some 70s latiin bongo grooves . In Queens another King Tubbies scholar King Charles brought his entire set to Queens . Also switched from dance hall to the rnb disco & funk & let local Queens kids bounce off his set to get the girls you got to cater the music , the djs , food & refreshments. In JA to much rivalry & firce competition , people disappearing. Let the kids do their ting . Charles would sometimes select or just chill. The kids develop the style dedications . I don't like it when they Diss disco music or Diss Carribbean culture or Hispanic culture . It sounds arrogant & stupid .
