Smash Melee isn't the best game of the franchise. If anything, it was objectively the weakest of the franchise due to it being rushed in development and rushed out the door. Smash Ultimate is the current best installment of the franchise. The glitch abuse prevalent in Smash Melee competitive matches were why Sakurai has been simplifying the controls and keeping it simple and not allowing glitches to be abused as "AdVaNcEd TeChZ".It's to keep the playing field level between new and veteran players.

you could include sonic later on as he was meant to be in melee but they couldn’t add him to the game before melee’s release, so he was first put into brawl instead

It wasn’t made unfair for casual gamers cause they still have the same ability to be as good as the more invested players. It just made the time investment to get good much higher. Smash doesn’t shorten that as much as it reduces things that are trivial and basically inflated difficulty. Like command moves making it so the level of execution is higher while smash lowers it (kinda)

10:43 Z-cancelling was in smash 64. Officially referred to as smooth landing it was excecuted the same way L-cancelling is done in melee, but instead of reducing lending lag to half of what it would be Z-cancelling just removed landing lag and put you into your normal landing animation.

The prototype wasn’t named Dragon King. It was named Ryuo, after the town in the background of all of the stages, which coincidentally happens to translate to Dragon King.

I love what sakurai did. Granted im a melee player so i dont like what happened to smash as a whole but sakurai is a king. Id love to hear what he thinks about other platform fighters. Is he happy he made an entire genre? Does he hate them for "copying" smash? Anyways i cant eait to see his next project.
