This music saved my life as a 13 year old. I remember hearing this song at summer camp. My best friend and I had a bad ass counselor who introduced us to riot grrrl. And our lives were forever changed in a way I’m forever grateful for this song, sleater-kinney and everyone else who paved the way so girls like me didn’t feel like freaks or misfits.

The first time I saw S-K was in Boston at the Roxy 2004. I was 18, by myself and right in front of Carrie like you were here. I was amazed at how she moved - watching her feet and her kicks lol! It was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. I had been to tons of shows but this was the first all female band and I felt so empowered and at home in the audience. Then they covered “Rebel Girl” and I lost my mind ❤️

Fucking awesome ❤️ I saw them play terminal 5 feb 27th, 2015 and met Michael Stipe, Corin and Carrie (who left with Taylor Schilling from OITNB) after the show. I have a few videos from that night on my page but I adore this version you uploaded! Thanks 🌻 Edit: I just checked your other videos - we have been to so many of the same shows! Can’t wait until things get back to normal because we all need live music again.
