    Yea I dont think ur piston skirt caused this.....crank shaft will be crap and so will the cam dude.....u don't know much do u

      I actually used both camshafts and the crank, the were perfectly fine.

    I see pretty much every truck with a isx in dump trucks rebuilt at 250k, 300k, 400k. What the hell man!! That’s horrible. And yes that’s km not miles. And only in Dump trucks cause that’s my business

    ISX was a boat anchor, that engine was the follow up of the QSX which intern leads the the downfall of the once great Cummins legacy

    The engine company minimum the weight on the engine and said more payload for the costumer but It's turns out like this I wanna tell the company they are a liar

    I work Specifically on Cummins motors , the motor is not the problem, the problem are Drivers rolling hills with there cruise control set on 70 mph with 80,000 pounds on there back.

      No. The problem in the CM2250 specifically is the badly honed Chinese liners in combination with the non-APR pistons which grab the excess carbon buildup from the EGR at the top of each cylinder and wear down the high spots in the liners (due to bad honing). This issue combines with a weakening oil pump and a partly clogged oil delivery system (primarily the oil cooler) which again, thank the EGR. This is further exacerbated by the failing bypass valve in the oil filter assembly which all in total leads to piston failure and a destroyed engine. Other evil doers are the EGR cooler, a cracked head causing hydro-lock, and dropped or turned liner or the ceramic plungers in the fuel pump (which can be upgraded to steel). I diagnose catastrophic failures in these engines and rebuild them to CM2350 specs if the block can be saved. The CM2250 is a poorly designed engine with poorly crafted parts, you prevent failure by rebuilding to CM2350 specs.

      @@deaconbryan8317 here's what people don't mention when it comes to reliability: they don't mention any *upgrades* that have been made to the engine to increase power and/or torque. When you add power adders like a larger turbo, forged rotating assembly, larger injectors, aggressive cam, larger radiator, etc, it typically results in shortened lifespan of any engine. I'm suspecting this Cummins was modified, but if not, then this type of engine failure seen on this video is due to user negligence. Any engine wouldn't blow up like this without some sort of abuse.

    cat has bad motors also don't kid yourself. Detroit's good cheap motor. Cummins excellent as Volvo. Its maintenance and bad drivers over revving lugging etc.

    I have Scanias 12 litre six had same probelm no 2 piston broken, also then cylinder pipe broken, but block was alright, rod also ok. But 3 valves and pumpnozzle also broken. 1,1 milion km.

    Had a nice Cummins 6pot turbo in a jcb fastrac yrs ago. blew 2 pistons thru the block..... JCB uk said it was a common fault, but cummins are a bloody good block none the less

      FixItStupid Average life to in frame rebuild; 600-800k miles with ISX. Bottom end failures very common due to engineering flaw with them.
