I know the type. Roebling Co. (Brooklyn Bridge) sold small and medium bridge kits any size you wanted. Google "landing lane bridge". For most of the 20th century Landing Land Bridge was/is an iron bridge a LOT like this one except a bit wider and three spans. Lots of rivets! Very unique sounds! (We didn't creep over it, tho it got loud above 45MPH.) 1995 they replaced the iron trusses with boring concrete beams. Still waffle steel decking.

I visited this bridge on the KY side. Pretty narrow traffic lanes. But this bridge could help alleviate some of the traffic on the other Ohio River bridges. 😊

I passed through this area earlier today and slowed to see the bridge but didn’t want to get off the interstate and end up lost in Louisville (which always happens!). Nice seeing it up close. Fascinating bridge, I’d bet it could still be used for automotive traffic but the liabilities are too high. Thank you for sharing this!
thank you for watching sir !! if you do go to the louisville side,, its on northwestern avenue between 31 and 32nd street, you can drive rite up to it there. it has the foundations there too from the old toll booths. And yes ,it could be used ,but WOW itd be scary. theres only that little steel fence between you and the river below !!!!

I've rode across that bridge in a car when I was a little kid in about 1975 going to and coming back from New Albany (We lived in Okalona, south of Louisville back then). I think it was 1977 before that dump truck partially fell through and they closed it to car traffic. It was never rated for vehicles that heavy and he shouldn't have been on it in the first place.

@@dlewis1931 Pretty sure it closed in 1977. When we went across it we were in a 1971 dodge charger, lol. It has a couple spots where it widens out into a pull off spot, I guess for cars that had a breakdown on the bridge.

Donnie I just found your video. I have crossed that bridge several thousand times. I grew up in Heltonville and we always went across the bridge after going to the dumpsters. My brother owns the land along the side of the creek you came in on. Several years ago (I think back in the 70's) the bridge was closed, but I think it was some of the locals that opened it back up. You're right about "Bonehead's Store", they have the best sandwiches around that are made fresh to order.

Can you pull up to either of the 2 bridges from “Pink Houses”? I’d like to take pics of my car in front or near the bridges. By the way “Frankenstein” sounds sweet!

@@dlewis1931 I have a 71 Plymouth Satellite. 4 door with Zero options. 3 speed, column shift, slant six car. It’s a beast to drive but I love it. 😎

You can still drive on the HWY 11 Bridge, and the Medora Bridge is closed, but you can pull rite up to it,,and walk on it.
