But in france we had two wonderfull n° 10 : Platini and Giresse. Michel Hidalgo have been the first coach to say : "we have two wonderfull n°10 : let's make them play together". But in 1982, there was three good n°10 in the france ligue 1 : Platini, Giresse and Genghini. Germany reached the World Cup final at 3 consecutive tornaments in 1982, 1986 and 1990. I'd rate both the 1982 & 1990 squads ahead of this 1986 one. Obviously with players like Rummenigge, Matthaeus, Brehme, Foerster, Littbarski, Voeller, Schumacher etc this squad wasnt lacking in top class talent, but Matthaeus & Brehme would hit their peaks 4 years later at Italia 90 while Rummenigge's best years were the early 80's.

Kad je Dragan Pantelić umro prije nekoliko godina, Slobodna Dalmacija mu je posvetila cijelu dvolisnicu. Koliki se danas, a i tada sjećaju njega, pogotovo što on predstavlja mladima!?! Malo se spominjalo njegov sportski put, a najviše je posvećen text njegovoj ljudskoj veličini. The 1996 team is not necessarily regarded as one of the best teams that Germany ever had (as compared to 1972, 1980 or 2014). But I think there has never been a German national team whose members had such largely successful and influential careers in their post-active football life. Just think of Klinsmann, Bierhoff, Sammer and Kuntz.
