Aero Precision 5.56 13.9" Pin & Weld.
Hey guys doing a quick video with my Aero 13.9" pin & weld. Just a runthrough of how it shoots and functions. Pin & welds have been popular in the post unconstitutional pistol brace fiasco world so I thought it was time to build my own.

@@Shadowz_660R Yes sir! Hope GOA and everyone keeps the pressure on the new administration to roll back some of these rediculous regulations on us through legislation. I'm eager to see the hearing protection act go through so that suppressors can come off the NFA and then I'm getting one, OK maybe I'm gonna get 3 or 4 but still. The waiting time, and idea registering things has never set well with me. So that would be awesome!... and also I'm eager to see the ATF reverse it's B.S. rule making policies and leave it to the legislatures like it is supposed to be.

Easiest way to know is to close your eyes and get in shooting position then open your eyes if you see full view then correct if have to move head at all then scope position is off
Good video ! Move your scope mounts forward on your upper and you won't have to pull your head back to get comfortable you can see it in the first couple of shots
@@stephendye4602 Hmmm. I'm not sure. I generally feel pretty comfortable with my eye relief. I'll double check it, but I don't recall being uncomfortable or anything. Thanks for letting me know though I will give it a check over.

@@easternforeigners Thank you I appreciate that! 😁
Thanks for the video. That's a good velocity for 20in AR.
God bless you, sir. May the Lord Jesus Christ lift you and your family!
New subscriber. Love the SFAR despite the issues I’ve had with mine. Put out a number of videos on the issues I’ve had. I honestly believe the best thing someone can do to these is change out the gas block. I fought the Ruger gas block and once I changed to a Riflespeed… it’s a huge game changer.
@@ChristianGrest Hey thanks man i appreciate that and yes sir I agree 100%... The Aero has done good for me so far, but like you said the riflespeed is a game changer and it is a more robust block. I'm definitely going to be getting one in the near future for mine as well! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and subscribing.
I bought this barrel and a 6.5 creedmore and both was way under gases at port and was told that I needed a rifel length plus one gas tube and had to use the standard rifel length gas tube in original gun because the plus one was all the way back into the receiver window and hitting back of gas key. And good luck getting and call back or answer the phone or email response. Don’t buy anything ballistic advantage. Also chamber is not proper bored on 6.5.
@@tomforeman4976 Wow I have never had any issues like that and I have several BA barrels. Sorry to hear this. And yes my .22 ARC is rifle+1 gas length but I have an adjustable gas block but I have it open just enough to run where is optimal, but have not had any issues whatsoever. Hope you get it straighten out.
The rifle speed gas block work great on my 20”SFAR. Suppressed unsuppressed supers or subs
@@matthewramsey2962 That's awesome. I've heard great things about the riflespeed and it's robust design. I believe I'm going to get one for sure!
Which hand guard is this?! Looks awesome
@@TjHeuer-ct7eoThank you! It's an Aero Precision M4E1 with the Aero Atlas R-One handgaurd.
Just received my Ballistic Advantage barrel today, 18" 1-7 RLG. Unfortunately Aero Precision isn't responding to customers and some guys are waiting up to two months or more for parts so I cancelled my order with them and initiated a CC charge back because they won't respond. It cost me more but I sourced the anodized green upper and lower from another vendor. Look forward to the first coyote hunt with the new build.
@@RobertCapps That's awesome! Bet that will be one slick rifle! It's funny you mentioned Aero taking a long time, I ordered a barrel from them because they had it in stock already pinned with the front sight post ready to go. But that was almost a month ago and they literally just shipped it out yesterday. It did say they were experiencing longer than usual processing times. But waiting for months unless it's some kind of backorder there shouldn't be any reason for that long. I think they need to get put of Washington state. Washington state has hammered down on gun control laws much like Illinois and California now. I think Aero should get away from there honestly.
Nice buck congrats man I just found and subscribed to your channel I just bought me a Ruger sfar 308 16 inch barrel never used ar for hunting but it's light and compact I'm going give it try I thank going to be good in ground blind ladder stand I'm big Time hunter I can't wait to try next season what kind scope would you recommend for hunting out to about 300 yard shot on deer be about far as I can get where I hunt some shots be close to
@@BrianBlake-oz4ru Thank you I appreciate that. This season I was hunting in a blind as well and where I hunt I would only get about 100 yards max so an LPVO 1-6 power scope proved to be extremely beneficial especially with all the brush. But for a max of anything out to 300 yards I would recommend getting a 4-12×44 power scope. There are alot of good brands for decent prices, for the money I think the Vortex Crossfire 2 with 4-12×44 lens runs around 160-180 dollars. And the Sig Sauer Whiskey 3 I think is a 4-12×50 is just over 200 dollars I believe... but yea A 4-12 is the miminimum I would go for more open ranges. You could go with 4-16's or 6-18's if you wanted to spend the extra cash for them. But I think a 4-12 would be perfect 👌
@Steelrunner my dad just purchased a sig sour 3-12 44 buck Master for like 112 dollar a dang fine optics for price and I've cn amazing reviews and testing on it under water drop test and hell up it held up on my dad 7mm mag this deer season
@@BrianBlake-oz4ru Oh yea i forgot about the Sig buckmasters. Yea that is a great option too for sure! Especially for deer hunting. Sounds like a winner. That 3-12 would be great. As far as a mount amazon has those Monstrum tactical cantilever mounts for AR's their new line is called the deadlock series and they have great reviews and I've had several of the regular ones. I just add a little blue loctite to the screws especially for a .308 AR and you won't have any issues. I think they run around 30-40 bucks so not bad and would do you just fine. Just remember the dab of blue loctite on those screws lol

@@Timfield.42 That's excellent. Glad it has been great for you! And thank you for your consideration....I cannot say my complaints with th SFAR were major, but rather they were minor and easily solved. Nothing I haven't ever experienced in other AR platforms. Overall it's great and I love it!
Go Big Blue! Love the Derby!
I put in a Tubbs braided buffer spring for a ar10, took care of all problems, stock gas block fine after install of that spring, also H2 buffer, runs smooth and absolutely no jams.
Keep the flash light from fiotchi or however it’s spelled, I have the same one for years now and it works great! Good review!
Removing the brake was kinda silly. Im thinking of upgrading the brake.
You have obviously modified this rifle to the point that the only thing left from factory is the frame's lightweight. Ruger came out with it with the objective of providing the shooter with a lightweight 308 at price around 1k vs others well over this mark. Unfortunately, there has been mixed reviews with it' performance with some being happy with it while others with negative results with various problems with different settings and ammunition. Glad to see that you are happy with all these mods however, with all these upgrades, the rifle becomes very costly to the budget oriented shooter. I have one and I had to send it back twice with feeding issues and brass shaving. Finally, it appears that it has been fixed. Thanks for sharing!
That is a solid unit, it will work just fine.

It's also weird that a 20 round mag will run any ammo Federal hollow points and all, but the five round mags do not feed those rounds. Mine does the same exact thing
Just an idea, but we all know it is over gassed from the factory. Maybe there’s too much gas coming back in and it is affecting those smaller mags. Maybe the gas is pushing the rounds down just a little before the bolt comes back. I have the rifle speed gas block. Mine does not have that issue.
I took a Dremel to the feed ramps and it made a huge difference on the brass inside the action
Thanks for the video! What trigger is that?
@@LanceKTM950 You're welcome. That trigger is the Palmetto State match grade drop in trigger it is single stage with a 3.5lb weight pull... I actually removed it from this rifle and put it on another rifle I have because I wanted to put a 2-stage trigger in this rifle. Now it has the trigger tech duty trigger. However the Palmetto State trigger is a great single stage trigger. If that's up your alley you can't go wrong with it.
Same chronograph I have. It does what I need it to. It tells me the velocity. You can get the adapter for the iPhone and use the app. Granted that garmin or Labrador are better tech the Caldwell tells me what I need to know and is way way way cheaper. Hell I’ve had mine for almost 10 years now and never had an issue. Just make sure the lights are on when it’s cloudy
Also make sure you don’t shoot too close as the muzzle blast will cause it not to read. Need to be back at least 15-20ft
Great review I just bought the Ruger sfar 308 to 16 in barrel I plan to deer hunt with it some this year make good ground blind compact gun
I was thinking about getting one until I looked at the ammo price. It cost three dollars more than the same type of ELD-VT bullet in 6mm ARC on Midway USA. What the hell Hornady! If it was cheaper to shoot than my six arc, then I would be all in. I know these people that work at these manufacturing companies are book smart, but sometimes I wonder if they have any common sense. For now, I will stick with my 6 ARC.
@@michaelcervantez3570 Can't go wrong with the 6 ARC that's for sure. I have one as well. Love it!
The other connector next to the audio stuff is the one you need to use with a usb adapter in your phone. Does not work with all the phones but if you have an older android model at home you can try.
@@kriszml Yes I have an old phone I'm going to try when I get the chance. I was able to download the app to it, hopefully it will function with it.
Your doing a great job still waiting on my parts to build my 22arc
Yep factory gas block hitting the hand guard. Replaced mine with a superlative arms set screw gas block before I even shot it. Now I have 300+ rounds no malfunctions and the gas is tuned down. I have the 20’ inch sfar. 11 pounds loaded love this gun.
@@cameronreuthe6152 That's awesome! The superlative arms gas blocks are really good quality. Should serve you well for years to come! I thought about getting a 20 inch myself for longer range shooting. They have the SFAR in 6.5 creedmoor now so for that reason may be something I do one day!
@@Steelrunner why not PSA PA10 in 6.5 creedmoor ?
@@turinrezaI had a PSA AR10 in .308 not long ago but I sold it. Because I built an Aero M5...And I haven't jumped on the 6.5 bandwagon, it has literally become the "boy band" of the gun world lol. Yea I'm know it's a good round and all but I don't know it just doesn't seem that impressive to me. No offense intended.
Love the drip on that rifle, your doing good keep it going brother
@@jwbennett4009 Thank you so much!!
I just got one of these in July, and have found that I get a little bit of brass coming off the casings as well, but that's only with 150 grain bullets (the cheapest ones), but it really seems to like 170 or 175 grain bullets, and I don't get any brass damage with the heavier rounds.
@@garyswift9347 hmm thats very interesting. I never even thought to try that. Thats some great information. Thank you for sharing!
@@Steelrunner Another no-brainer tip for the SFAR is to replace the factory butt-stock pad. Magpul makes a thicker pad that is a simple bolt-on replacement for around $20, and it's a noticeable improvement in felt recoil. I'm a skinny guy, so I notice it quite a bit.
Black always shoots better for me vs "match"
Was thinking about buying one of these this weekend. I know ruger has apparently updated their gas block from the original version they had a year or so ago. Most of what is on TH-cam is bad reviews of it while most of the comments are good reviews. I guess I’m just going to have to get it and see if I got lucky or not. If not I’ll just be replacing the gas block and tube I reckon. Ps- the brass hitting the camera was gold😂
@@JWCV Yea they updated the regulator on the gas block. It can be removed there are youtube videos from Ruger themselves how to remove it from the gas block. It's very simple.... before I put the Aero adjustable gas block on I ordered he updated regulator just to go ahead and replace it proactively and it worked just fine. However I ended up eventually changing the whole block to the Aero just for the ability to more fine tunes the gas setting.... if you get one I personally think it's a good rifle. There are some proprietary parts like the bolt carrier assembly, barrel, and buffer tube assembly, but everything else can be customized just like any AR-15.
The buffer tube assembly is proprietary? 🤔 A heavier buffer will help smooth it out. H2 or H3 is helpful.
@@bmrz38 Yes it is proprietary. I tried an H2 with the original gas block but it would not cycle properly on setting 2 (normal). It would on setting 3 (adverse) but I did not want to run it on setting 3 all the time. But since changing the gas block to the Aero adjustable gas block it has been great 👍
I tried to put a SOLGW a5 system on their and it wouldn't work. Ended putting that on another AR and replaced the buffer spring with a Geiselle rifle length spring and a H3 weight to soak up the recoil. Also swapped out the stock and added another one and added a thicker buttpad. Recoil is MUCH tamer now. I'll probably end up making a video so people can see what I did with mine
I am in a beginning of my dive into the .22 ARC myself. I got the rifle built and got ammo and made some 62g hand loads. I just need to make it to the range.
@@timothytowers3853 That's awesome! I've enjoyed mine so far, would like to get into handloading someday you can really fine tune your set up!
Same grains in bullet's same velocities as my 224 Valkyrie I guess it's what cool aid they want you to drink,I fell for the Valkyrie
@@tonywilfong5409 True. But I believe the .22 ARC has a higher ballistic coefficient than that of the Valkyrie and theoretically enabling the bullet to have a flatter trajectory with less wind drift... However I have yet to put that to the test, and would like to compare the results. Realistically I think either way you go you're going to get great results from either cartridge. I do like the Valkyrie myself also. 👍
I’ve shot all Hornady ammo for the 6 arc and all have shot very good. Mine especially like the 103 ELD X.
