    Thank you John for a great video. I did try to light up bigger bright stars. I got a problem with small stars that are close to the big stars. It does not look natural. It is difficult to pain white on the mask to open correct amount of the big stars. Do you have a way to tackle this problem?

    Why do you merge the layers? What happens if you don't? Would be nice if you give the files names so it is more easy to follow. Had to watch it three times until I got the workflow!

    Hi John! Just saw this video. Outstanding tutorial my friend. I just wanted to clarify something. You shot the RGB panorama, stitched it and got it ready as a "base layer". Then you shot only the Ha-rich areas such as the Gum, Orion complex, California, Flaming Star, etc and took several Ha images to stack. Then you masked it using the Overlay method and then copied them over the RGB panorama base layer and used Free Transform, Puppet Warp etc to align the Ha signals over the RGB in just those specific areas needing the Ha enhancement. You also duplicated the layers to control your Ha edits for certain parts of the image such as the lower end of the Gum and upper end of the Gum individually and then masked and got rid of the unwanted part after colorizing. Is this summation of your technique accurate? Thanks.

    • @johnrutterphotography
      @johnrutterphotography หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's correct mate, although I don't use overlay, use the screen or lighten blend mode.

  • @L.Merino
    @L.Merino หลายเดือนก่อน

    I didn't imagine that the shots obtained with the filter were only used to obtain a mask on which to add color. This gives you total control over each area with ha. Thank you very much for this contribution!!!

    Hello! I wanted to buy a 35mm sigma, I am convinced by the fact that it is light, weighs 600g. I would like to use it for astrophotography and everyday use. Is there a big difference in quality apart from the weight and is it better to buy a 40mm? 40mm weighs twice as much

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The image quality difference is massive, night and day. The sigma 40mm 1.4 is easily one of the sharpest lenses ever. The sigma art 35 1.4 is less sharp than.. every other 35mm 1.4 since, from Canon, Tamron etc. Tamron SP 35 1.4 is the sharpest 35mm so far.

    Great review. How do you know which 3 stars to choose to do the proper alignment ? How do you know if it is aligned successfully after going through the process? I've been doing the 3 stars alignment but I can't seem to figure it out what am I doing wrong, after that it won't go to any of the correct stars/nebulas etc after I do the alignment. So I must do something wrong. (It is properly aligned to Polaris.)

    Hi John Thanks for all your content - absolutely love it. Learning so much. I'm an amateur photographer from Tassie and I'm planning my first tracked milky way panorama in a few weeks - looking to buy my first star tracker. I'm tossing up between the Mini and the Pro 2i, with budget being a bit of a concern. I'll be shooting on a Sigma 50mm 1.4 DG HSM with a Sony A7C, so payload shoould be okay for both. But I've heard the Mini struggles with timing out/failing on the app side, with disconnects/resets etc. Have you found this to be an issue? Just worried I'll get 10 photos in on a perfect night and stuff up the shot because the app failed on me! Any advice would be super useful. :) Thanks mate - keep up the great work!
