Chineke! Orchestra are Europe's first majority Black and ethnically diverse orchestra. Championing change and celebrating diversity in Classical Music 🎻
The Chineke! Foundation was created by Chi-chi Nwanoku CBE in 2015 to provide outstanding career opportunities to established and up-and-coming Black and ethnically diverse classical musicians in the UK and Europe. The organisation aims to be a catalyst for change, realising existing diversity targets within the industry by increasing the representation of Black and ethnically diverse musicians in British and European orchestras.
The Foundation’s flagship ensemble, the Chineke! Orchestra, comprises exceptional musicians from across the continent brought together multiple times per year. As Europe’s first majority Black and ethnically diverse orchestra, the Chineke! Orchestra performs a mixture of standard orchestral repertoire along with the works of Black and ethnically diverse composers both past and present.

The Chineke! Orchestra works closely with its sister ensemble, the Chineke! Junior Orchestra; a youth orchestra of Black and ethnically diverse players aged 11-22. Both ensembles were founded simultaneously in 2015 with the aim of creating opportunities for emerging and established musicians of Black and ethnically diverse heritage.
Many of our Junior Orchestra players already benefit from a number of existing youth schemes, junior music colleges and specialist music schools across the UK. The Chineke! Orchestra plays an important role in this project, with senior players acting as mentors, teachers and role models to the young musicians. In this way, the Chineke! Junior Orchestra acts as a bridge between such schemes and higher education, giving its players experience, encouragement and confidence during their formative years, with the hope of increasing the numbers of Black and ethnically diverse candidates currently studying music at third level. This process has already begun, with several of our Chineke! Juniors winning full scholarships to the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Royal Northern College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music.

I humbly present the 3rd movement of my Piano Concerto No 2, a boisterous jaunt through a fugue, then a gigue, slows down to an arabesque type dance, then becomes an all-out romp, and that's just the preview! Hope to lift your Autumn spirits! th-cam.com/video/hkrpFBQdxjw/w-d-xo.html Thanks!
I really love this piece and this performance.
It is the beauty of a virtuoso. More so, it is great to see it played with the majesty of a violinist, who may be from the same heritage of who Beethoven wrote it for and may have intended it to be played for history to enjoy forever. Great double stoppings and slides from the 10th position on a violin which may be a Stradivarius. It is actually not the bridgetower sonata - it's the Kreuztner sonata for all those who have carried the sheet music, which the virtuoso is turning the page on his own while playing one of the hardest pieces of music granted to the world.
Wonderful performance! Well videographed, too -- love the closeups of soloists and the soulful maestro.
Amazing
👏👏👏
God! Orchestra ❤
We had the wonderful opportunity to attend this concert and it was such an amazing experience! The Chineke! orchestra performed with incredible clarity, precision, beauty and intensity - without conductor! As if they were breathing together. And the two soloists on handpan and violin were breathtaking. It was really beautiful! Thank you all!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏼🙏🏿
🎉 Magnifique 🎉 ❤
EXCELLENT
Duke Ellington was a great musician but I don't like this. I don't like having jazz arrangements of the classics. Would rather hear one of Ellington's compositions arranged for orchestra.
the best thing about music is you can do whatever you want
A great performance!! A great duo, pianist and violinist!! Bravissimo!!
Marvelous performance 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Dvorak was listening from above....

Play Britten's "A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" and Prokofieff's "Peter and The Wolf" for him. He'll love them.

I love Ellington’s original and look forward to what y’all do with it. Always looking forward to y’all releases.
why would you let them run an ad in the middle of this? ugh.
BRAVO. CLAPPING. AWESOME
Beautiful to hear the bassoons to. My nearly 9yo is transitioning onto the big bassoon. It’s great for her to listen to pieces where the bassoon sound is showcased.
