Ambient music composer SymphoCat presents a series of live audio recordings called "hEar" created in a moment at various performances of the musician.
"Winter in Saint Petersburg" presents a sound art work with field recordings collected in St. Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia.
The half-hour composition begins with echoes of the anthem of the Russian Empire "God Save the Tsar" played on a trumpet by a street musician near the Palace Square. Next, the sound journey takes place along Gorokhovaya Street, one of the central beams of the old town district. The sound of the streets subsides at the intersection with Sadovaya Street, where an ephemeral traveler plunges into the Sennaya Ploshchad metro station, contemplating the labyrinths of echoes created by passengers. The sound space gradually changes and draws the listener into the subway car. At some point, it seems that a single ray of light pierces the dark gloom of underground channels, there is an outburst of accumulated emotional states turning into catharsis. In the final part of the composition, the train exits the tunnel, turning out to be an echo of the past from the depths of consciousness. Through a quiet mise-en-scene, the listener comes out into the light, "waking up" in the halls of St. Catherine's Catholic Church on Nevsky Prospekt, a space remotely filled with the sounds of the city outside the walls of the church. Gradually, sound interpretations dissolve doubts and bring sharp foci to the spaces around, illuminating with warm, atonal tides of strings and organ. Получасовая композиция начинается с отголосков гимна Российской Империи "Боже Царя Храни" сыгранной на трубе уличным музыкантом неподалеку от Дворцовой площади. Далее звуковое путешествие проходит по улице Гороховой, одного из центральных лучей района старого города. Звук улиц стихает на пересечении с улицей Садовой, где эфемерный путешественник погружается в метро станции Сенная площадь, созерцая лабиринты отзвуков создаваемых пассажирами. Звуковое пространство постепенно изменяется и увлекает слушателя в вагон метро. В какой то момент кажется, что одинокий луч света пронзает темную мглу подземных каналов, происходит выплеск накопленных эмоциональных состояний переходящий в катарсис. В завершающей части композиции, поезд выходит из тоннеля оказываясь отголоском прошлого из недр сознания. Через тихую мизансцену слушатель выходит к свету, "просыпаясь" в залах католической церкви Святой Екатерины на Невском проспекте, пространство отдаленно наполняемое звуками города за стенами церкви. Постепенно звуковые интерпретации растворяют сомнения и наводят резкие фокусы на пространства вокруг, озаряя теплыми, атональными приливами струнных и органа. Спокойствие, принятие, взор в будущее, звуковая молитва...
