I really want to know how long the market will last. Probably 4 months maybe. Don't think it is UV proof but really can't wait to see.
Yeah it didn’t last long! Lol maybe a month. Its still there months later but only was vibrant for about a month. I’ll have to paint or pin stripe it
I used the heavy duty paint from menards and it worked so well i did the axles on my cougar an truck rebuilds. I bought 1 gall and used an elextric graco and it smoothed out nice. It even takes brush rubbing without any scratches.
I had to scrap a place like this once. I talked with a couple crack headsca week before and for a cut the came and hauled all the metal and copper away for salvage and i gave them a piece of paper to not loose encase the cops asked. They was out there for 4 days straight hauling out scrap. I bet they removed 2 tons of stuff we didnt send to the landfill. I got some cash also and they saved all the scale receipts. Lol
Nice! Win win for everyone it sounds like!
So was it already plumbed just never hooked up? Or did you have to plumb it also.
Where are you located? I used to build noise walls like that but haven’t seen that style with the I beams

I have welded a 4 inch stub on my mud bucket then i have a pole that fits over the stub and bolts on and thats what my receiver goes on that way your boom and stick can be in any position and still be accurate. Its doesnt effort loading trucks at all. Great video and good work mate from Australia
@@jarrodoreilly4328 Nice that’s a smart idea! Thanks for watching and the feedback! 🍻
Nice I just purchased mine last week.
Awesome! Congratulations!
Love your basement videos and commentary!
Thank you! Appreciate it 🤙🤙
Great operator
Thank you!
What if you’re on uneven ground do you have to adjust the receiver, laser receiver up and down or not?
It does make things a bit more challenging but you want to try and be roughly level in general when digging. But the short answer is no it shouldn’t. The height is based on the boom being plum so that height doesn’t really change even if the machine does a bit
I bought mine a couple years ago and now I’m fixing to try it out and use it for the first time
I love these 580ks probably my favorite case machine
I have a biased opinion because it’s the one my dad bought the year I was born and we’ve had it ever since. Grew up loving this machine and still do
Can a root barrier trench curve or does it need to go straight
Doing a bit of this myself. Nice. Curious, wouldn't thr skid steer do just a nice of a job?
Well yes and no. A box blade is the best tool for the job, its entire purpose is to spread and level dirt. It would be like using a wrench to drive a nail in a 2x4. Yes the wrench will drive a nail but a hammer would do the job a bit better.
Eh I more relate it to a nail gun to a hammer. Nothing like beating a 16 penny in with a hammer but easier on the body to use a nail gun an smaller nails. So much easier on the body running a skid steer and can get the job done just as good if not better, especially with some experience. Constantly looking over your shoulder using the box blade is hell on your back over the years. But there’s nothing like backing that thing up and putting a perfect grade down first pass. You constantly tinker with a skid steer
Why stack and compact it after screening? Won’t that just make it clumpier when being pulled out ?
A little yeah. But it’s for use on a subdivision so even later when leading it out with the dozer and track machines etc it will still be clumpy.
good job, is it all done in one day?🫡
This particular job was done in a day and a half. All the grading and bring in the sod was first day. Second day we just laid the sod. Probably only a few hours in the morning to wrap it up 🤙
Dozer finesse 👌
Oh yeah buddy 😎🤙🤙
average sand grade. lol
What do you mean by sand grade??
Nice job on this video!
Thank you! Appreciate the positive feedback 😎👍🏻👍🏻
Where did you get the concrete blocks?
We just had those left over from a landscaping job
They let people move in without driveways or landscape? No way theyd let u doo that here in Florida
No the driveways were in with gravel. Then one day a paving company comes in and paves like 50 or more per day so they can do a huge subdivision like this in 2-3 days. But us digging these trenches was sort of unprecedented. It’s a new thing they incorporated on those houses in that subdivision. It’s not normal.
Forgive my ignorance, but what’s the deal on all the extra culvert on either side?
Haha not ignorant man, I thought the same thing! This was designed by an engineer and the town. I had to follow their requirements for culvert length. Wasn’t up to me lol.
@@dirty.diggers not meant as a criticism, just to be clear. I figured there was a good reason, and I’m sure the engineer had one.
@@gabrielpearson Yeah Exactly! If it’s an approved design and what the customer wants, as long as it doesn’t negatively affect us or anything else negatively, I have no problem doing it 👍🏻
Looks wonderful !!
Thanks! I appreciate that! If nothing else, it looks far better then it did before 😆
Looks nice! I like how you flipped the dirt out of the bucket. I’ll have to try that. Does this type of work require you to have any kind of license or anything?
Thanks! Appreciate that. Yeah flicking the dirt or other material like that is a technique that can be helpful to spread material out or sometimes if you can’t raise the bucket to Dump for various reasons. And yes for this job we needed to have a permit for the culvert and also one to have a lane closed on the road when trucks were dumping because it was a very busy road
On some of the grease seals there is a spring in it to keep it tight on the shaft. If it is one that has a spring in it you need to pack it with grease before pounding it in. This will keep the spring in place when the force or shock from the hammer hits it to drive it in. Good job.
Thanks man! We’re not mechanics by any means, but we try to do as much service as we can to maintain and repair our equipment
Good stuff, love seeing an older 580 out working.
Oh yeah!! It’s the machine that made me fall in love with equipment
@@dirty.diggers same here, grew up on old cases, spent most of my career so far on em. New ones are nice not the same as the old.
@@jsbackhoeop8180 now never will be 😔 all new machines are nice and great etc. but with all emissions and tech on them makes repairs and some operating a pain
@@dirty.diggers tell me about it 😆 the super Ls were the best, bulletproof
@@jsbackhoeop8180 Yeah those were great as well
As you can see you don't want the OE color at this point, you want a sun faded version of the OE color. Paying crazy amounts for a perfect color match is questionable at that point.
Yeah exactly! It would be very tough to custom match the exact same new paint. Even the gallon I ended up making, I just used a little from the spray paint on a scrap piece of metal so they could colour match it pretty close. Should have just done the gallon from the beginning lol
Fantastic video, thanks! If you need raw pushing power on a standard excavator, you should check out the Kobelco ED160 blade runner. Very impressive bit of kit, it has the 140 superstructure, and a really muscular undercarriage.
Thank you! I appreciate it! Yes that was one thing I realized when purchasing the Kobelco, they really go for strong drives on the tracks to have that extra pushing power
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting 🤙🤙
Great video Sir! Sorry about the CASE😝🤣
Thank you! And it’s okay, in this CASE she was squeaky but we got her all fixed up good as new now! 😁
$175,000 CAD for Bobcat T87 ! It lifts slightly higher and can lift slightly more but wow expensive! I can't justify upgrading to another Bobcat at those prices!
Holy!!!! That is insane! I’ve always heard Bobcat was very overpriced. Recently I’ve heard a lot of complaints with them in terms of service and performance too. Not sure never owned one but every time I did operate one I wasn’t a fan of it
@dirty.diggers I really like my 2015 bobcat S850, ergonomics are great. I guess everyone gets used to their own machine. I've rented a few other machines and certain things are better or worse
@@mennonitemoto5941 yes that’s also very true. Have you ever ran the Kubota?
@dirty.diggers I've tried a few larger newer kubotas yeah, overhead door is great, on bobcat I can NOT open the door if I have the work platform on my forks still! So lame. I do not like the DEF on my machine but I do prefer it to Kubotas regen system. Kubota has super smooth hydraulics too
@dirty.diggers I've ran a few john deers, huge cab with all kinds of leg room, but sit very high and personal preference I just didn't like it
Did you shoot points on it to be sure the water is flowing correctly? It honestly looks like that back area where all the sod is will pool in the center in many areas and/or flow towards the houses.
No we don’t typically shoot unless it’s close. We do thousands of homes a year and have a pretty good eye for getting the grades right, as well as bench marks like the heights at the house and grade stakes at the rear. This grade is designed to be lowest in the middle of the yard, and then slope to the side yards and out to the street from there. Very rarely the drainage doesn’t work, and that’s usually due to some type of problem with the building where we can’t achieve enough slope.
Please plant trees for earth
I sold mine after 100 hours. The machines are built too short for the tracks lacking power like all of them right now the machine will pop a wheelie on steep grade. Easy to maintenance definitely but to light in the front because of that. If you know you know would not buy another Kubota they've had so many issues. Do not like how the cab is set up. A cup holder is behind your right shoulder. If you miss a button on the code by accident, you have to start all over the window. Hit you in the back coming when you're coming out. There's no way to close the window from outside the cab
I agree with you on some of that for sure. The cupholder placement I did end up making a story about. Don’t think I noticed that during this video. The door can be a bit annoying to close on the way out for sure, but I wouldn’t trade that minor inconvenience for the overall design of the door going overhead. As for the balance, I only got about 50-60 hours on it right now. But I never found that an issue with the other svl 75-2 machines we had. Have you used the older model Kubota?
Great video mate
Thanks! Appreciate it 🤙🤙🍻🍻
