Our new Port to Wall video covers the journey of GIB® plasterboard production in New Zealand from raw gypsum arriving at the port right through to installation on the wall. For nearly a century, GIB® plasterboard wall-linings have provided safe, warm homes. Manufactured locally, these products use gypsum, offering various benefits like noise control, fire resistance, and structural bracing. The...

    One thing I haven't been able to figure out as a DIYer, is what I should do around the perimeter of the room if I'm using the stw clips on the walls and quiet clips on the ceilings? Using these perimeter channels means screwing straight into the framing which I'm obviously trying to avoid. What's the solution in that case?

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jaap, the Noise Control wall system can effectively finish at the ceiling height and the perimeter channel or angle be fixed directly to the wall framing at this junction. Please note that the wall construction and linings in the ceiling space will need to meet the required Fire Rating. Refer to “GIB Fire Rated systems”. feel free to contact us on 0800 100 442 if you have further questions.

    why would you use a trowel to smoothen the surface ,when yo could use a broad knife 25cm to scrape it back, and you apply your base coat as your smooth coat so the next 2 coats is easier to apply and with a better finish

    Hi, what is the suggested clip spacing along each ceiling batten for 10mm GIB?

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! As per the video - max spacing is 1200mm. If you have any further questions feel free to contact our helpline on 0800 100 442

  • @gicnuff3934

    Can you fix this perimeter channel with nails? Or to keep warranty do you need to use the gib wafer head screws?

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! For a standard ceiling - care must be taken that the head of the nail must not penetrate the batten. As per nailing the battens on. If it is a ceiling diaphragm then this must be screw fixed. Feel free to contact our helpline on 0800 100 442 if you have any further questions :)

    Can you just fix the perimeter channel to the studs instead of top plate if you want to drop ceiling 150mm ?

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! If the channel is only fixed to the studs with no solid blocking behind does not allow for fixing of the wall linings which in turn may lead to cracking at this junction. Further questions? Feel free to contact our helpline - 0800 100 442 :)

    Dude what about when you get to the corner and find that you have a build up of plaster under the tape and you have to get that plaster out and keep the tape nice and cleanly plastered in too the corner that’s not easy to do if you have little experience in how to plaster properly if you have build under the tape and the plaster has dried and you go to put your corner tape in you will find that the corner has a big bulge in it and getting that bulge out I’m hoping you might be able to show people how it’s done ?

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @jclavero69
      @jclavero69 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi I got the Gib Rondo A311 Quiet Clip (50/bag) for 310 is a bit small to meet the timber at the top as I'm putting it on the top of a existing ceiling that is uneven.. so can I make extra holes at the top to join it to the timber as in some of them I can get to the 4 holes that the clip had made up.. I can get just one the one that moves up and down so I was thinking to make 2 holes in each side

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, it will depend on how the GIB Rondo® batten is fixed to the structure (clips or direct fixed) but generally speaking reinforcing blocks will most likely be required. Please call our Helpline 0800 100 442 to check specifically.

    Is it the same Gib board Fletchers/Winstones held the country to ransom over recently and are now rorting everyone re the price of it? They write on their website "Like You, We're Proudly Building for New Zealand" No you didn't. And we couldn't. We were screwed. Screwed by you. I now get my plaster board from off-shore so you guys can shove your gib where the sun doesn't shine.

    For a one-off small job, to save buying several GIB compounds that would likely never be used again, could you glue the back block with PLUS 4?

    • @GIB12256

      hi! GIB Plus 4® will not hold as well as a setting compound. For smaller jobs you could look to use a tube glue to hold the patch

    Hi. My ceiling has this, but has started squeaking. If I push up on the gib ceiling from below it chirps. Can I just push the ceiling up slightly and re-screw that clip to the ceiling making it tighter?

    • @GIB12256
      @GIB12256 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, rescrewing the clip is a good idea if it stops the squeaking but it might create a hollow spot in the ceiling lining? The squeaking might be due to something else so feel free to call us to discuss more detail 0800100442
