Rosie and Jim - Filming Locations (Birmingham and The Black Country)
มุมมอง 12Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Rosie and Jim was a popular children's TV show in the 1990s and one of my favourites to watch when I was a kid. Growing up near to where several of the early episodes were filmed was always something of a fascination to me and something I still take great pride in. In this video, which has taken me over a year to finish, I visit a handful of the filming locations used in Rosie and Jim. Focusing...

Part 1 of 3 of a compilation of TV adverts recorded off good old VHS, I am focusing on ads from 1998-2003. Why? Because I'm not exclusively a 90s or a 00s kid, my childhood spans the two and this particular set of years brings back a lot of nostalgia to me and hopefully anyone else who grew up in that period. This bunch of ads concentrates on 1998 and 1999. With thanks to HalfbrickVHS for suppl...

As it's October when I post this, here's a mashup of clips from some iconic British kids shows from the 80's, 90's and 00's. All of which have a spooky theme, including clips from Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids, Art Attack, Trapped!, The Trap Door, Knightmare, Zzzap! and many more. I did want to include The Demon Headmaster but unfortunately the footage kept being blocked so I had to remove it.

    In the Series 2 episode ''Hats''' which canal near Birmingham does John lose his hat in? I would love to find that filming location. Also love the video, I hope you do a second one of Rosie and Jim filming locations. Because one of my favourite episodes from Series 1 which is ''Steam''' where John accidently runs the Ragdoll aground on some mud. A scene with a steam engine on the Seven Valley Railway is shown, but the river doesn't run alongside that part of the line only going under the bridge which the Ragdoll isn't seen doing so. Which means a bit of trick filming which is worth mentioning. th-cam.com/video/BYYwZZC9noQ/w-d-xo.html Ps here's the link to the ''Steam''' episode.

      I don't know I'm afraid it's a bit difficult to tell. Thank you for watching the video, I'm afraid there are no plans for another because this one took a long time to do and I just wanted to concentrate on the ones that held a local connection to me.

      PS And it’s funny I should say that because Rosie and Jim was both first presented and of course created by the late John Cunliffe as he created Postman Pat as one of the characters called Ted Glen had a harmonica on the tuba episode.

    Thank you :) I really enjoyed your video. I grew up on the British Inland Waterways, living in canal boats from the early 70’s but we never ‘did’ Birmingham. Anyone know what happened to the Ragdoll? Anybody seen her? It’s unlikely her name will have changed as that’s one of the strongest sailor superstitions (I can’t remember the reasoning) to never change the name of a boat. She looks about 55 feet, lovely girl :)

    • @JacksThrowbackAttack
      @JacksThrowbackAttack 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The Ragdoll Boat still exists, it was found a few years ago in dry dock and has since been returned to the water. It appears to be in private ownership now. It has been modified and repainted so it's hard to spot. It's still green and red but all of the identifying Ragdoll signage has been removed sadly. There's a few videos on youtube and some pictures online of how it looks recently.

    I loved the Ragdoll shop, being a Brummie myself, when we visited Stratford we always had to visit the shop. One of my favourite parts was the Rosie and Jim boat that you could sit in and watch episodes, me and my sister could have stayed there all day! This was really interesting, i might visit someone of the locations myself.

    • @JacksThrowbackAttack
      @JacksThrowbackAttack 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes I visited the shop a few times when I was a kid, it's a shame there's not many photos or footage of it online. I have a vague recollection of what was dotted about.

    • @alexwells6876
      @alexwells6876 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@JacksThrowbackAttack Yeah, i think that promotional video for the shop is one of the only bits of footage online. I know there was also the Tots TV section which had 3 telephones i think? You could "call" each character. But like you, it's very vague.

    • @JacksThrowbackAttack
      @JacksThrowbackAttack 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@alexwells6876 There is some footage in the BBC Teletubbies Documentary from 1998 which is on TH-cam. Yeah the three telephones, each one played the theme music from a different show (one for Tots TV, one for Rosie and Jim and one for Brum) and there were coloured postboxes you could put drawings in. I seem to remember there was a little outside bit with a painting of Donkey in his shed on the wall. There was also a mini Teletubby land as well. The very last time I visited they had a section dedicated to Boobah as that was the new big show at the time.
