Does the head phone jack still work with a dedicated speaker (to use earbuds)?
Do you have a link to download the 3D printed case files for the v4/v5?
Thank you Sir!
Wiring CW paddles?
I really love my V6 but I feel the firmware was never finished, the calibration function leaves a lot to be desired.
How have you liked the rig? I am considering a new easy kitt radio and have two of the previous rigs.
Need only cabinet, plz help me...
v6 comes with a cabinet, if you did not get one, check thingiverse.com
hey snapwhole i'm wondering if i could buy ramps 1.5 instade of 1.4 and it is possible to run the system with the old marlin firmware ?
absolutely - 1.4/1.5/1.6 ramps are all fuctionally the same, the firmware does not know the difference - thanks for subscribing!
One of the easiest and finest kits from vu2esa. 73

Where can you buy the 4-pin Tarheel control cable connectors?
Can it be programmed automatically?
I just finished my kit and my speaker wont stop buzzing. I turned the pot all the way up and down and the speaker just wont stop buzzing. Did I burn up a diode soldering it in or had a bad part? I was carful populating the board so I am kinda surprised I had an issue. I was thinking of adding a 100R to the pot and see if that helps. Any suggestions?
I have same look of this soldering iron and it says 200ͦ⁰C to 450⁰C BUT I measured on the tip and when you set 200⁰C it heats up to 345⁰C and it goes to about 460⁰C. The tips I get with he iron, one tip I used soldering on probably 20 wire joints and the tip responsible to soldering dissapeard 😂🤣. This soldering iron is temperature inacurate, because it does not have thermometer sensor in the heating element area. I maybe will buy those black tips, maybe they are bether, will see.
I adjust the thermostat based on how the tip melts solder and ignore the rating, the tips are weller 900m type tips, you can buy them anywhere that sells tips, using the tip to hot will ruin the tips quickly (burns of the coating, which is why i set by how it melts solder - you can us tip restorer to make the tips last longer th-cam.com/video/0Pf0TBqo7bI/w-d-xo.html - thanks for subscribing
NICE FIRST EVER COMMENT TO SOMEONES POST HAHA WHOOHOO >> I have just got this same kit as i wanted to know roughly how a MD circuit works so bought the mds-60 as a reference to work from for making my own DIY metal detector. I'm looking all over the net to see if anyone has took this kit and copied it up on a bigger scale but without the coil initially attached i don't suppose you have tried this yourself have you?
ps i was working with the NE555P TIMER initially but found the MDS-60 which doesn't require a timer in it's circuit so thought i'd try upscaling the mds-60 circuit but i'm having trouble laying it onto a pcb which is really frustrating lol
I'll give that a try this summer, but the design would not be that sensitive, not a lot of adjustments - thanks for subscribing!
Love mine you just have to learn how the radio works. I've been a qrper for many years and this is by far one of the best, good power and of course the higher bands have a little less power..The little guy is meant to experiment with and the first major mod will be some tighter filtering on cw. Have fun 73 ki0ad
Do i need to put solder lead everytime I'm done using it?
The diode is a 1N34-A not an IN34A Good video. I have a FB group called Ham Radio Horizons and I will be posting this there sometime late this month or early next month and probably some of your other videos. I am always looking for content. Thanks for posting this.
I've wondered about using those old tv yokes, since I salvage a lot of parts. Good idea.
hi there dose this kit cover 12 meters, didn't see it on your display when you powered up.
yes
Could you just use a 3 position momentary switch instead of the 2 components used here? Thanks
yes that would work, so would 2 momentary contact switches, many different ways to build this, this video shows my method - the method someone else uses will probably be influenced by the parts the have on hand - thanks for subscribing
have you thought about updating the firmware of the radio
this was a video of the first power on after the assembly was complete, to demonstrate how it worked out of the box, watch my other videos for the construction of a development system, so I can upgrade the code on another system and swap minis so I can keep the completed radio up and running while experimenting with upgrading/modifying the code - thanks for subscribing
This seems to be a very common problem, but there're not many videos addressing it. This was kinda helpful, and I say that because your camera is so far away I can hardly see. Also, your board was at such an angle the dc power jack was covering the regulator. Cool vise btw.
careful with these soldering irons. the 120v power in the handle is easy to twist and cause a dead short. i just had mine pop about a week ago.
and I had mine for a while now, about 2-3 years, I love it BUT soldering tips that came with it and new ones i ordered for like 3-4$ 5pcs are AWFUL they literally melt and i have it set to 200c and mine is 220v version i have my speculations but first i will buy more expensive tips and see if thats the issue
Have you installed these? Did they induce noise on RX for your uBitX?
these do not induce noise, if you are experiencing noise, its probably the power source feeding this device, try a different power source, if its a wall wart, they are notorious for being less than well regulated, this device will clean that up on the voltage it outputs, but the power source could still be causing general noise that could get into your receive - Thanks for subscribing!
After playing with the V3 version for a while there coming some smoke out the box it was, the audio chip also the fuse was dead .I hope i can repair Thx for the video 73, ON3MK Mor
It's always a joy when the thing first picks up signals, isn't it. I've built a bunch of kits and from scratch radios and it never gets old. One thing that would be great is knowing what version of Raduino firmware to use these days and how to calibrate and align the v5 uBITX.?! I have one that I set aside with that as the only hurdle that I wasn't able to get over. The various versions of firmware, when v5 came out, were "broken" with regard to BFO alignment and such. I know others who "failed" just as I did (we have a support group started! ;-) .
I build a dev system radino so I could experiment with different firmware and my mods, without taking down the uBitx - th-cam.com/video/vR92Ljtix8c/w-d-xo.html - thanks for subscribing!
can you give the link from where you bought it
aliexpress.com - lots of 'stores' sell these, look for one that sells for about $3-3.50 - all use the 900m tips Thanks for subscribing!
Just got one, loved the video. Wondering if you are going to be doing any upgrades? I got the laser with mine as well, and it boggles the mine they want a square laser to be placed in the round spindle mount hole.
I will be posting some upgrades, expect the videos soon as I can edit them - thanks for subscribing!
That’s really nice. A bit of work on the firmware can make it sound even better
I thought I was the only one to wonder about the extra leads and nuts and bolts.. Mine went together just like yours, same problem with the volume control and very tight fitting case. All OK now and thanks for putting on the video. For info of others I got stung for UK VAT on import from India. 73 Lawrence G4GZG.
thanks for the info on the VAT for the UK folks, not a problem in the US
Customs and Excise should have not charged you anything, i may be wrong but a kit does not attract any duty ! its a kit !
I have two of those. They came from my dad who worked for the phone company in Central Office Repair. Those switch centers had aisle after aisle of electronic equipment and each aisle had a couple of ladders that were attached to a trolley on the ceiling. So you could just roll the ladder up and down the aisle to where you wanted to work. The center support on the cage is spring loaded. You can pull it back, set it on the ladder step and release it and it would hold itself tight to the ladder. I'm sure the irons I have are probably 60 years old if not older. Typically the metal tray for the handle is would be covered with excess solder and if you needed some solder in a hurry you could just dip the iron into the solder.
thanks for the info, I had a chance to get another one when I got this one, sorry I missed the chance, I use for antenna work
Hello, I was just wondering, what is the diameter of the dc plug inside and out? Thank you.
its a standard 2.1 mm plug and jack
Did you order this directly from HF Signals? I ordered one a few days ago and don't know if I should be nervous about customs/ shipping.
no worries, mine came in a week
Hello, I just got one of these. I cannot find any documentation on the polarity of the plug. Did I see you test yours with center positive? 73 KE0OAP
plug is center positive
@@SnapwholeEclectic I got it! It's on the air. It's a fun little radio.
Can you give me your mobile number, sir? 73
Mine comes Monday. Thanks to you and your video, I am sure I can get this together. KE0OAP 73
its easy to put together I'm sure you will enjoy using it
Accessing the "SETUP MENU" requires pressing the tune knob for about 10 seconds. Took me awhile to figure it out.
What type of power supply are you using? It looks like the type I use on my laptop.
its a 5 am power supply from a monoprice mini-delta 3D Printer - but is just like a laptop power supply, I used that because it had the right 2.1mm connector and was 12 volts, most laptop supplies use a larger connector and are 19-21 volts - you could use the 19-21v supplies with the adjustable voltage regulator I used for the finals - th-cam.com/video/ewPqkGJcFcQ/w-d-xo.html - Thanks for subscribing
Im looking for my first shortwave ham transceiver do you have any recommendations sir?
Yiğit Şahin This one. Or the uBITX.
this one is he ubitx
this is a good receiver and would work fine for you first transceiver - caution, ask 100 hams for a recommendation, you will get 75 different answers......
@@SnapwholeEclectic Were did you order it from links please
@@AndrewMurphy8383 www[dot]hfsignals[dot]com - you will have to fix the address - youtube does not like links that take you off their site......thanks for subscribing!
Mmm what are the function of those 2 jacks you have installed right below the display??
I wanted separate jacks for straight key and paddle keyer, as well as speaker and mic jacks - thats the great thing about the ubitx and the 3D printed case - lots of options - the options are covered in the 3d printed case video - th-cam.com/video/fDq22DacKrM/w-d-xo.html - check out the playlist for all the videos in the series
NO INSTRUCTIONS?
On the website and user groups.
there are limited instructions for assembly and parts, but ALL support for this product is from online user groups, there NO support from the manufacturer, even for defective parts
IS there a power adjustment trimmer on the board?
i hooked mine up correctly - the selector doesn't come off of LSB and touch isn't working :/
Dove comprare il mbitix
another great video, I might pick up one of these for xmas, looks like fun.
interesting to play with, nice radio
Super video, really nice quality footage, what camera are you using? subscribed :-)
great idea
Thank you! 😊
Great video
Thanks!
I got the same exact cage. It has r2719 stenciled on the back like 8t was in a factory. It holds a 100w american beauty by american elec heater co. It still has the wire clip for holding on a wet rag or sponge. By the looks of it probably the original rag that it came with lol.
