Flare Moustache 15m proximity flying

I had a blast flying this line ass to grass with my Moustache 15m. Säntis and Stockberg had over 50km/h of wind and they're just 1-3 km away. Easy answer. I never crashed since I started flying. You have to know that this flight is well planed before. I walked up the hole line and checkt everything I need to know. Are there some cables, wich is the best line, are there some fences, where can I land, are there different spots to land and so on. Down by my car I had little windsock that I checked with a telescope before I started and also the smoke from the fire on the other valley side told me that there was absolutely no wind. If it had been windy I would never have flown so close to the terrain.

    • @RiftboardsSwitzerland
      @RiftboardsSwitzerland 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally like the Chubanga a little bit more because it is easier to ride. Both Foils are great but the chubanga is simple. You don’t have screws to change the angle of the rear wing, you don’t have different front wings and masts. On the upwind i think Levitaz is faster, on the downwind maybe the Chubanga. On the chubanga you need a special Board and waiting time for a Foil is higher and communication with chubanga is not that easy. Levitaz is more professional.

      Hi, my Bar has 55cm and that is what Flysurfer also recommends. And I can fly loops with backstalling the kite. So I don‘t thing my bar is to small. The Singleskin Kites normally flys slower and turn slower than a normal soft kite. And the 13m war really to slow for me and in ride ups between trees and rocks I need a little bit more reactive kite to get up the mountains save.

    Nice video! Why did you choose 5m for strong winds but not 4m? I'm thinking about getting a kite for winds from 16 to 38 knots. I saw on youtube that some people used Peak4 4m and some 5m for these winds. I had Peak 4, 3m and felt it was not enough power for me.( 70kg) For what wind range you plan to use Peak5, 5m ?

    • @RiftboardsSwitzerland
      @RiftboardsSwitzerland 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx! The reason is that I had the same range before and there is always 3m2 different from size to size. I used the 5m only two times last winter and to be honest, It was not funny to kite in a snowstorm by -15 degrees. So if there is a storm, I prefer a wellness weekend😀 The 5m is also a good kite for my girlfriend when I use the 8m and I plan to use the peak on the foil as well. I think the 4m is just to small and not very funny to ride.

    What is the minimum wind required to ride with the 11 m and go up hill but not steep? I tried it over the weekend for my weight (83 kg) i was overpowered with gusts in the ~20 knots specially that snow was hard i had to do quick release. Also it looks like it will fly until you feel there is no wind at all. Didn't get the chance to ride with it waiting for when am not at work and gusts are not beyond 17 knots.

      Hi Sorry for the late answer. I think 12 and 15 are super close together. I would go for the 10m. Then you will have a "fast" kite. When you are interested in Big Air, go for the Sonic 3. Man I love this Kite. Endless Hangtime and so easy to controll. Kiteloops with the Soul are ok. I tried Megaloops on my 8m Soul and they worked fine. Came in strapless on the Foil, jumped of and made the loop. Had a soft Landing. A Tubekite turns faster. Overhead and landing loops should not be a Problem. I made this with my 15 and 13 a lot.

    Update: I used the Soul now for many many many sessions. Found out that the kite flys better when B is 2mm longer than A and C 2mm longer than B. In Z I changed 8knot to a normal knot. The kite still turns super fast and it flys faster and the power in the stronger wind is easier to control.

    Flysurfer gibt auf ihrer webseite auch an, dass man bei einem neuen Kite die Backlines um ca 5 cm kürzen soll....Besser ist es einfach die Backlines an der Bar umzuschlaufen. Knoten am Kite kann die Bruchlast runtersetzen. Wenn der Kite eingeflogen ist und die Steuerleinen sich verkürzt haben, kann man die Verschlaufung wieder raus machen.

    • @RiftboardsSwitzerland
      @RiftboardsSwitzerland 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ja das ist so, dass das Umschlaufen an der Bar eine Möglichkeit ist. Aber die bringt nicht den gewünschten Effekt. Das Umschlaufen an der Bar verkürzt auch C und B. Somit hat der Kite mehr Backstall, dreht aber per se nicht schneller. Ich habe schon ca 10cm Backstall an der Bar. Mit dem kleinen Knoten verkürze ich gewollt nur Z und dies gibt mir ohne gross den Backstall zu beeinflussen, einen schneller drehenden Kite. Und solange Flysurfer selber in der Waage Knoten macht um ein durchrutschen der Waage durch die Rollen zu verhindern, habe ich absolut keine Bedenken wegen des Knoten in Z. Da zumal die anderen Ebenen viel mehr beansprucht werden. Die verbauten Leine dort hat (soweit mir bekannt) 600kg Bruchlast. Ein Knoten senkt dies um 40 Prozent, heisst 360kg. An der Bar hast du maximal um die 10 bis 15kg. Geteilt durch 2 Leinen. Daher easyyyyyyyyyyyyy

      @@RiftboardsSwitzerland Ich benutze eine Force Control Bar und fahre mit der Standard Konfiguration ABC und Z auf einer Länge. Daher hält sich der Backstall in Grenzen. Ich bin primär Kitelandboarder..daher ist es auch nicht so tragisch, dass der Kite etwas träger ist. Hauptsache er liftet mich gut 😁

    Nice infos, especially the tip with the pigtails is amazing. I might try that too cause its annoying if those lines get tangeld. But you should double check if you need the knot you talk about last minute. Break load on those lines is highly decreased with a knot.

    • @RiftboardsSwitzerland
      @RiftboardsSwitzerland 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Changing the pigtails was the the best thing I have done on a flysurfer kite since years. Flew the kite a lot since this video and never ever had any problems again. With the break load you are right. But Flysurfer has a standard knot in the A Line as you can see at 7:45 (can be B or C, not motivated to check the kite in the garage). And these lines has much more strengt than the Z. So I think I wont have problems with this knot.

    • @RiftboardsSwitzerland
      @RiftboardsSwitzerland 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Lines there has 600kg breaking load. The knot can reduce it by 40%. So still 360kg. At the Bar you will have max 10 to 15kg. And this on two lines. So I think this knot will never be a problem.
