Sanjay Rajoura is someone who goes out of his way to declare that he’s “not an intellectual,” a clever little defense mechanism to preempt anyone else from pointing it out. Yet, despite his claims of modesty, he carries himself with the arrogance of someone desperate to be recognized as one. He makes forceful attempts to appear different and sarcastic, but all he ends up revealing is how shallow his knowledge really is. Now, some people might think I have a problem with him because of his left-leaning political stance, but that’s not the case. I, as a right-leaning person, have no issue with left-leaning individuals-I like Kunal Kamra, for instance. Despite being left-leaning, Kamra comes across as someone who has some substance, someone who’s well-read and has done his homework. He’s not out there seeking attention for the sake of it. In contrast Sanjay seems perpetually unhappy with everything around him and uses this discontent as a ploy to seek attention. It’s not depth he portrays, but a relentless need to be noticed, which makes his attempts at sarcasm and difference even more hollow.
