A nice show of how the Headfirst Evil Joe amp and Diezel VH4 work so well together. SM57 and EJ through the mesa Straight. SM57 and VH4 through the straight/slant mesa cab. No EQ. This is straight in signal. Les Paul 79 custom.
Adam Jones Rivera flavoured tone!!

Three amps Marshall for clarity Diezel for low mids and punch Rivera for dry mid and sizzle This is by far my fav tone I have created 😊

Adam Jones Tone

So this was the tone I heard back in 1997. Aenima tour. I totally fell in love with the tone and had never heard anything like it since. 27 years later 🤘🏻

Hell yeah ! on point :)
Sounds great dude
Awesomeness
I think the treble is a little high, allthough its likely due to the mic position. if you own a Sm57 or 58 place it at about a 45 degree angle to the speaker face, that's typically the microphone of choice for recording guitars, though there are others which preform to about the same standard. Ideally you want your mics to be fairly close, the inverse square law applies to recording, so for each doubling of distance from the speaker face you lose about 6dB (in a "free field"). That will really improve your audio quality and we will be able to experience the same tone you are
Sounds 🔥👍🤘
I am not suprised it sounds the same when you have literally the same gear. Still very nice though!
Bogner is really cool
Yeah this is one of my fav amps.
That low D string has almost no tension on it. The palm mutes sounds like flub
🤘😎
It's pretty damn close maybe a lil more static
My rolland cube 80gx gets me close. Been using that for 9 years. Always use it.
Nailed it!
That’s about $16k for just the amps and cabs!! Not to mention guitar and pedals!! It’s a beautiful tone! I see you are using one of VH4’s on channel 2. Getting that Marshall tone!! Nice!
Life
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🌀🌀
The tone is right, but the big sound difference is in the technique. Adam has a very specific touch that shines through his playing. Good job, though!
Your playing sucks big time, my bro!
Unbelievable man. ❤Sounds the closest I’ve ever heard anyone..
i can get the same kind of sound and volume with a ds-1 and VOXAC15, its such an underrated amp
Diezel wins easily. the only problem i have with the diezel is that it sounds less heavy when hitting a single string. and that's great for downtuning and bending, but not when you combine single string playing with chord playing.
Sounds so percussive just like his. I’m interested in what’s the thing that gives this effect
Yeah the key is stiff and unforgiving amps and less gain.
Very cool. Amazing how throughout the catalogue, the music has evolved around the core sound that even with the same/ similar guitar & amp pairings, there is a nuance to each era. 10000 days riffs versus say Undertow - quite a contrast!
Like if you see the green bay packers hat on the wall
ill stick to my free amp sims
Sound so sick🤯🤯🤯🤘Were you running any pedals with that or is it all just the amp?
*Sounds
That’s just the amp. I do like to put a Micro amp in front too for a little gain boost
NOT Adam jones!
Been using one for years.. killer amp.
Looks and sounds awesome. How does it stack to the KR7 ?
Holds its own well. More upper mids and highs, but also has more low mids that the kr7. Kr7 holds more bass
Good lawd that sounds good! Best Undertow era tone I've heard next to the actual song. Have you thought about blending an old triple rec with it to cover some of the low midrange and bottom end? I've heard he did use one in the studio when they recorded the record.
Thanks mate. Yeah I have thought about it all, I will get there one day haha
Get quicker with your pick hand. Play every day for 12 hrs
Amps are nice but you gotta practice Adam’s technique more.
the mids sound funky
Sounds really good man. Beautiful rig also. Thanks for sharing this
Don't get me wrong , I love tool and adam jones . You just spent all that money to sound like someone else though .
10,000 Days for only 10,000 BUCKS. Did they see you coming?
A bit more than 10k 👌🤘🏻
New one sounds scratchy... And boxed in.
I have 'invested' in digital modelling. And studio equipment. Havent used any amp in the last ten years. Only for giggles. With technology these days, you don't need those bulldozers anymore. Floorboard straight up in PA and you are good to go.
I agree, but I bet most in this comment section won’t lol.
Old all the way is the new kt77 and old 6l6?
Thank you so much for putting this together
Indeed, sounds very good, congrats!!
Guess its time for me to sell a kidney
Great amp, hell fuzz
Let's hope Adam drops by to weigh in.
Awesome!
More girth in the bottom end (low mids?) on the newer model makes lack some clarity? Or am i just crazy?
The mids are cranked on the 2002 and the treble is also a smidge higher, so it’s not an apples to apples comparison.
This is the one, it's perfect. Fancy posting clips of each amp mic'd individually?
Yeah I can see if I saved them
Nice!
I dare say you pretty much NAILED it!!
Ddj in the bridge ? Sounds great !
Yup
@@gavinstorkey675 ok well I know what’s going in my Les Paul. Why did you ditch the Marshall?
@@totc6196great pickup. Just experimenting with the wizard is all
@@gavinstorkey675 gonna grab one running a diezel and a superbass aj modified. What difference do you notice from the regular sh-6?
