NARRATED POEM
What is time?
Three simple words
That baffle us all
That put us in place,
That make us feel small.
Can you respond
To something that flies,
To something consuming,
To something that cries?
A physicist says,
“It’s a dimension in space.
The universe grasped
In its fleeting embrace.”
Or a philosopher claims,
“Don’t be tricked by its course.
Its only constructed
By our human force.”
“Time is money!”
The businessman yells,
“It chains you to work
In its valuable cells.”
The futurist laughes,
“One day I’ll have time
To live for myself,
But not now. That’s a crime!”
But for a simple small child.
It’s the tick, tock, tick
That triggers desire
For an experience kick.
Time is so clever,
Not grasped or controlled.
Days counting down
Until your life will be told.
The ugliest of masters
That pauses the heart.
Brings more sorrow than joy,
An end to life’s start.
The older we get
The more brief life becomes.
Time is a ghost
That all shall succumb.
But…
Time is a gift
From He up above,
The Perfect Almighty,
The Master of Love.
Who dares to define
Or limit His present?
Time was given to know Him
Before our ascent.
Worldly desires
Will all pass away.
But it’s forever for all
Who live in His ways.
No one can fathom
Time and its fear
But time is no master
For the King who is near.
One day, we’ll die,
Earthly life we are without.
So, what will you do
Before your time runs out?
