The life & loss of Carole Lombard. A loss that would forever change Clark's life. "Why Ma? Dammit why Ma?" he kept saying. The song is "Fire & Rain" by James Taylor A huge thanks to James Taylor for the use of this song, I felt the song fit beautifully!!

The "love affair" with Joan never grows tired...always fascinating us nearly 100 yrs later !

I love this early talkie of Joan’s and several of her other silent ones as well. Not to sound corny, but some of these precious films are as powerful as “a Sunday school class.” In this film, Joan plays the only sensible girlfriend who tries to protect two of her closest girl friends from heartbreaking consequences, which neither girl can see, until it’s far too late. This really is a good movie if you’re lucky enough to find it. Joan Crawford was a marvelous actress from day one. It’s a movie with a heartbreaking message but one that has, for Joan anyway, an extremely happy ending. 💐

TCM showed this recently and I got to watch the entire movie. Oh my goodness Joan Crawford just lights up the screen. Absolutely beautiful and she was an incredible actress. The way she was able to express Emotion in this is wonderful. I loved this whole movie. The actors, the clothing, the sets, the story, the music. It really is an outstanding movie. I have always loved Joan Crawford. She was gorgeous back in her early years. I don't know what is true about her and what is not and either way I won't say anything bad about her. I just love watching her in movies. May she rest in peace.

Joan in the 20s and 30s is my favorite time in her career. She was shockingly beautiful and acted so well, so fluidly. When the rolled hair, the big shoulders and the strange lighting came long she just seemed so stiff and tough to me.

I saw this film on TV and was amazed that in one scene Jean coughed. That's how sick she was. They didn't reshoot the scene without the cough, I suppose, because it was clear she wasn't getting better, and to just get the film done and let her go to bed.

Funny, there was never a "Joan Crawford Eyes" song. Every bit as large, blue, and expressive as Bette's. When Anita was asked to talk about Joan, she said she wasn't going to comment. I love this particular era; even Joan's dress has a little art deco on it. I lament what we've become as a society. Everything's... well, what's a better way to say dirty?
