I played both and I played Assetto Corsa on my laptop. If you turn off all settings, GRID is more realistic than AR, especially at high speed corners. But both have advantages and disadvantages. AR is more fun for beginners that still want to enjoy realism in physics while GRID is more fun if you want even more realistic (but both are still sim-cade at best, it's mobile so being full simulator like Assetto Corsa will be too much things to take care on our screen). AR's advantages: - More beginner friendly - Updates from time to time (but the dev are small company so I appreciate even a small update) - Mid range friendly - Online races (I don't remember if GRID have online or not) - More enjoyable drift physics - More detailed car tuning - Limited time events and rewards - Each in-game recharge are worth it - Daily rewards and extra rewards on special dates - Despite limited customisation, it's more freedom than GRID GRID's advantages: - More realistic physics than AR (if you turn all settings off) - AI is way more competitive and fun - Radio team - Crash physics and tire wear - Better career system - Support offline - Can make your own championship - Everything already unlocked - No need to pay for DLC, it's already included in the main price, just need to download additional files - More realistic racing environments as well - Way more car classes - Less detailed in terms of tuning and upgrades (for example; gear ratio is a simple one slider) but there are some crucial tuning setup that AR didn't have (toe-in and toe-out for example) - More iconic classics and open-wheelers (unfortunately no F1 car, but AR didn't have F1 too, but at least they have Lotus Exos T125) - Rewind mode in case you Fk'up Disadvantages of AR: - Pretty unrealistic at high speed (imagine able to zoom at high speed corners on 1000hp R35 that doesn't have additional downforce bodykit) - Sometimes it feels like a dead game due to mid events - Online races are not that competitive because there is no ranking system - AI are poorly made GRID disadvantages: - If you're a beginner, turning off all assist will feels like hell - Drift physics is good but AR is more enjoyable at drifting - Only have preset liveries as customisation (at least some of them are dope) - Only support flagship devices or mid range that have flagship chipset Overall? For me GRID is the better game, but if you want something easier to understand, then go for AR. But if you're keep on playing GRID until you can be good at it, it's more fun than AR ngl because it's more challenging yet still fair, and AI really give challenge to you, more than AR online racing against actual players
