I mean Clem is like the Messi of SC2, clearly. Insanely high level. HOWEVER... can't there be an RTS that doesn't require God-level 10,000hr+ Adderall monk dedication mechanics/controls to have to master before being able to, you know, strategize in a strategy game? That's the real problem with SC2: sure, if you're one of the few people on the planet who has good talent but then is also willing to put in the crazy cult-like "Thomas Edison 99% perspiration" time to get to that level, then... anyone and everyone else is cut out from the competitive level even if they might actually be a far better strategist/tactician mentally. And that seriously degrades the quality of this game and the competitive pool, and thus the variety of matches, and thus the appeal to mainstream. This isnt the only but is one of the main reasons why SC2 is sort of fading/dying. Dont be fooled by these big $$$ tourneys, the game is alive still but its not gaining or maintaining players or viewership. Think of it this way: Yes, a crazy-fast player like Clem does bring the potential of what you COULD do in a SC2 match closer or on par with the reality of playing it, however, in just about all SC2 matches even at pro level what you are always witnessing when watching a SC2 match, is actually the mechanical limit of what can happen in the game. Sure, at high level you see a dizzying amount of stuff going on by some seriously skilled operators, but even so, its the limit of how they can control it, NOT the limit of gameplay which the platform can offer as a strategy/RTS medium. Why? because Blizzard devs chose to make SC2 like SC1:BW a crackhead-robot-on-fire based tollgate to enter price just to control the damn game that nobody can pay except a few. This kind of control-interface-gating "mechanical skill ceiling" focused design represents the past of the RTS genre, not the future. Look at Street Fighter 6, different genre but hear me out here, what Capcom did was brilliant and wise: after the failure of SF5 they realized that the GAMEPLAY like the actual depth and nuance and decisions and complexity of the fights was the most quality-enhancing aspect of the game, NOT having players memorize a bunch of special move mechanics, training for 1000s of hrs just to memorize the stupid control interface to be finger-ninjas. So, Capcom chose to part ways with 30 years and dozens of street fighter games before worth of tradition and say "Nah, that way is done. The future is simplifying all special move inputs so that anyone can do it, THEN the quality depth enjoyment and caliber of fights will be based on the DECISIONS AND INTELLIGENCE of players, NOT the dumb control interface as the tollgate to enter price for playing high level". Very wise indeed. SF6 is the best in the series, a huge worldwide hit, and possibly the best fighting game of all time, a very lively growing competitive scene and a healthy player base. The opposite of SC2's fortunes, and for opposite reasons. They chose to focus on gameplay quality/depth, combined with as much accessibility as possible for the masses. NOT starcraft's/Blizzard's design philosophy which is: you can only compete or also enjoy high depth/quality gameplay if you devote literally 1000s of hrs of your life like these skinny hermit-like "pros" to develop eventually the ridiculous mechanical muscle-memory which then will enable you to make decisions of tactics and strategy at a high level. That's a stupid self-defeating philosophy, and most people that even try SC2 shortly after put it down upon hitting that absurd sheer-cliff skill wall. SC2 is doomed to die because of this, not because of age or "not good enough RTS".

Zerg being obviously OP is one of the big reasons I stopped watching SC2, it just became boring, champions not really champions, same strats used too easily over and over etc. I just happened to catch this tournament but it is rare for me, just fell out of SC2 years ago. I wont tell you my background but Ive been studying military theory my entire life, I will tell you why Zerg is OP (since anybody with a brain can obviously tell they are if they watch enough SC2): The issue is more macro than any specific unit/tactic/ability. Yes, Zerg are harder to learn initially with finicky mechanics, but at the top levels this makes no difference at all. What you get at pro level is that Zerg is always dominantly expanding on the map far faster, cheaper and more easily. Creep reinforces the "home base defenders advantage" aspect even more because all their units can crisscross their own territory at lightning speed, so whatever side an enemy attacks from starts not to matter. As they expand, get more bases, spread creep, they essentially begin not just inhabiting the map, but actually monopolizing it. Do you ever notice how whenever a high-level Z plays against T or P, its ALWAYS up to the T/P player to frantically try to stop or reduce the Zerg expansion madness? This always puts them on the backfoot fighting uphill BY DEFAULT. Terrible game design. This means that Z has massive advantage at game start, just by being Z, and T/P have to then work their butts off to clear creep, raid Z bases, and do terrible dmg JUST to even the playing field. If they can't do this, against onslaught of easily produced fairly cheap Z unit swarms within the first 6-7 mins of any game, then the T/P player is already far behind, Z will have 5-6 bases and 200 max supply army by that point, easily. Pro Z players achieve this regularly. Anyone who says: "Ah, but that's why T/P players have to adopt XYZ strategies, or do this, or do that, to combat that" are just making excuses on Z's behalf. It's like saying, "Oh, the empire has a death star? Well, thats not OP! ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is get your X-wings in JUST the right spot, and then get LUCKY with JUST THE RIGHT torpedo... etc". Obviously bunk arguments. But it doesnt end there... The Z units which are supposed to follow a design philosophy of "weaker, but cheaper to build and swarm with" doesnt actually hold up, because Z units are actually quite good! On paper yes they might technically have a few less HP, do a few less dmg, and so on, but in practice in the game they are just as effective as T/P units, for the most part. Look at that first game of Dark Vs HeroMarine here: all Dark had to do was build a small-ish battalion of roaches and ravagers (which are actually very strong, takes insane micro to dodge biles), and with that he just simply pushed forward and repeatedly SMASHED HeroM's entire defenses of SIEGED UP tanks and marine ball, with home court advantage, AND SCVs helping out... didn't matter. They crushed everything repeatedly. SC2 is just sadly broken, always has been. Why? Because the Blizzard devs who made the game are secretly mostly all Zerg fanboys and felt that it had to be the "coolest" race, because "yeaah monsters and dark creepy stuff!" fucking geeks, broke their own game lmao. Nobody really takes SC2 serious except the diehard people who love SC2, everyone else can tell its kind of a silly space-themed Starship Troopers "cute" RTS game.

You'll know what I'm talking about when I say: THOSE GAME 2 DUAL WIDOW MINE FRIENDLY FIRES!!!! OMG! I am very much not a fan of the widow mine's design, but part of what I love about Starcraft is that it allows for friendly fire on units that would be very much abused without it.
