Where do you spray the silicon?
Hello. Its in the video link: th-cam.com/video/2xrJuwVp8UI/w-d-xo.html
I think this is a fad. A good quality, properly serviced tape deck is designed to pull all kinds of cassette tape through the transport, If you are having speed variations and stoppages, take my advice and just rewind and FF the tape a few times. This will re-spool the tape neatly and solve most issues without contaminating the heads and rollers of your player. I speak from 55 years experience in hi fi and being a retired chemistry teacher.
Thanks for your feedback, but sometimes the tape itself is the problem and "smack the tape" rewind etc does not help to improve sound quality on "old" tapes. This is proven to work. You should not lubricate with your main deck. The tape must dry. I have now multiple cassette tapes that sound much better after 3 months, even more. If you have a problem with wow and fluttering most of the time, it's the pinch roller. Cassette deck and cassette tapes problems are not the same.
Music for pleasure and phantasmagoria is better imo
It comes down to your own taste and keep rocking!
As Q tips are sort of oval shaped and may not make even contact with the tape, I use a small fragment of soft cloth which I attach over the tape using a fine rubber band. This is then wet with a little silicone spray before inserting into a cassette player and the tape run from reel to reel twice. The tape must then be allowed to dry out thoroughly before playing. That way you will not get silicone on the parts of the cassette player. The cassette head does not make contact with the tape during FF or RW. Using a drill to move the tape could spell disaster as the power of the drill could cause it to snap off from the spool at the end.
Always use another cassette player is recommended when doing this with pure cotton Q Tip that is not Oval. Drill is most likely too strong and not recommended. Always let the silicone dry properly before playing, and if it comes on tape head's, pinch roller or capstan. Just clean it with Isopropyl alcohol. Watch other videos i have about this process.
Hei. Any experience with a teflon-based spray (wet)? I happen to have some Motip 0564 PTFE at hand.
No. It's only proven to work with silicone.
Hello friend, do you know how I can activate the mode? IV METAL?
Your cassette deck must support it. Always read your manual.
An interesting problem you have there. Are you able to record/play some royalty free or public domain music on the cassette and then make a video playing it back?
Thanks for your input. I will see if its worth the time with these cassettes. They are the only one with this issue.
So strange...
Yes, agree totally ...
Really informative video, helped me a lot to understand my walkman issues better! Thank you
So nice to hear! Glad to be able to help!
What are those little squares and the chewing gum like substance for on the surface of your turntable?
Those are Magic Eraser and other is Blu Tak. See more here: th-cam.com/video/FN7zqwI0SRY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cWWsrp7ex-PiT7vY
I really like that you call the turntable "he" as if it's a conscious being its very cute.
:D
You said to press reverse - I expect you wanted to say rewind? Anyway I would not try it - silicon is not drying agent and wil permanently affect friction between tape , rubber rollers and axes. In most cases faulty tape tape is molded and this should be to be washed and wiped dry.
You said to press reverse - I expect you wanted to say rewind? Yes It's actually proven to work, and it's being used as a lubricant in almost all cassette tapes that you buy. Just get the Wet version, Not the dry version of Silicone spray. Silicone will leave a protective film after it dries. It can in some cases bring the tape back to its original state, and play much better with an improvement of sound quality! Thanks for your input!
21:30. Thiers NO SLIP SHEET Inside. That's why has friction
Hello. There is actually slip sheets inside. All of the 4 cassettes that I own have same issue. Thanks for the feedback!
This is very useful once they invent time machines
:D Some people still use it today 📼
🎵🎶🎸🎶🎧
:D
I just found three SMAT cassettes the other day. Hadn't heard of them, but seemed well made.
Great. I am still testing them so let's see how good they are. Share your experience with them, good or bad.
Traces of what?

Tape! 😮❤︎
:D
Hi Grip, I have the same USB setup as you do........Can I use WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant also? Thank you
Hi! You can use any brand of silicone spray as long it's the Wet version. Not the dry version, it can harm the tape instead. Good luck!
House of Rose.
:D Keep on rocking
Good to know! I thought the alcohol would ruin the recording. Glad it didn't. This may help save what would have been thrown away!
No, it will not ruin it, but it is important to lubricate the tape with silicone so it will be protected for a long time in the future and even against molds.
Yes. Timeless.
Their best album :D
Their song Plan 9 Channel 7 is just amazing
Yes, its really a classic :D
The Damned.... they are the Pink Floyd, the Rush, the Led Zeppelin of the Punk Era. Just listen to Smash It Up....Part1 and 2. Their music is timeless.
Totally agree with you :D
Best band ever!
One of the greatest! :D
There's no substitute for vinyl.
All formats have their pros and cons :D
😎🔥🔥🔥
:D
The residues are plasticizer that's why those sticky hands for the 90s always used to leave a stain on the ceiling
:D Great info
Thank you this will be very handy
Happy to share :D
Let me quote The IT Crowd here: "Excuse me. Are you from the past?!"
Past future and present :D
The alcohol on the tape doesn't hurt it? Tape sure looks WAY better. Also, what do you think about that cassette player ( other than using it for things like this )? Perform ok?
Sorry. Commented before the end. Guess I'll find the answer to my first question in a few days!
Alcohol is only being used because of the tape is very moldy. Don't forget that after the molds are being removed, the silicone treatment will do its job. The cassette player is not recommended. It is only being used for treatments of cassette tapes and as a rewind of tapes. :D
Goo
One of the best albums :D
Sounded like Fontaines Dc, here's the thing...
Never heard of them. Thanks :D
Where's Experamental Jetset Trash and No Star album at? That's the best one

Kids who wished they lived that generation but have no idea how much it sucked for future generations...
The importance of holding a medium is actually a way to appreciate the artist. Streaming can't really accomplish that. :D
I want that
It's a good album :D
Love fake plastic trees
Very good song! Keep rocking :D
The biggest mistake is not buying albums on CD 😆👎
Well, all formats have their problems. Whatever you like, just stick with it. I just like the analog sound :D
Ive never demagnetized my deck. I don't notice anything being affected. Should I do it anyway?
It depends on the deck. How its constructed. If you play and record frequently, you may never have to do it. If you have a cassette player with only Play function then you really must demagnetize so you don't erase information on the tape every time you play. Keep those tapes rolling! :D
@@grips33com thanks. One more question....will it affect any other components ( CD player, receiver, etc.) above or below the deck when demagnetizing?
If you have a demagnetize cassette, just press Play after you off the amplifier...it can create a signal that can damage amp and also your speakers. So be sure amp is Off, before you start. If its a handheld device you must do like this: th-cam.com/video/jDznQ_6HDmc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=1KQp_AMXscT3piuc
I'm sorry but you're giving the wrong instructions on this deck how to look at the dolby sign. It'positioned at - 2db at the meter and its corresponding to Dolby level is always 200 nWb/m. You say that the peaks are not allowed to go over this sign when recording but that has nothing to do with recording levels. The sign is only there as a calibration point for proper dolby levels. It's all in the service manual. The only thing you must watch out for is that you don't exceed the recommended recording levels for a specific tape.
Thanks for your input. And that is exactly what I am saying, and it's just a thumb rule to make recording easy with Dolby. Different modes of Dolby will give you other results on other decks. Different cassette tapes have different peak levels. You should always try to record and see what sound best to your ears. Keep on taping!
Don't buy cheap playback systems.
Yes, stay away from Crosleys, but if you are on a low budget a AT-LP60 will be fine.
Treating a great album with the respect it deserves.
@@simonarcher1510 Keep your vinyl spinning :D
Explained perfectly like Kamala Harris: the Passage of time is like a passage of time, so the passage of time will be passage of time
Watch full video to see complete tutorial :D
You don't strictly need the cassette player, I used a drill with a Bic biro pen in :D
Cool :D. Best to do the job with a cassette player. But be sure the drill does not spin to fast. Heard someone used just a Bic pen and did it manually. For sure it will take a long time...Anything goes if it works.
I have a small, crappy mono single speaker boombox (minus any boom) that i use to fast forward and rewind every new (used) tape i buy.
That is a perfect!
How does the silicone not end up on the head and roller?
You must let the Silicone dry first. For me, best results will be after 4-5 days. If it will come on pinch-roller or heads, just clean it with Isopropyl alcohol.
@@grips33com interesting. Thanks. I just junked a tape that would fast forward and rewind, but bogged down and stopped when playing. It was an old Alan Parsons Project "Turn of a Friendly Card" cassette. Next time I'll give this a try.
It will work for sure. Just let it stand for a few days.
I've seen a hair dryer and dental pick method too. Have you tried it?
Heat will not lubricate the tape so its not an option. It can actually damage the tape in some cases instead.
I prefer Spotify
If that works for you, Ok. But I prefer 📼
Thanknyou for sharing 😊
My pleasure 😊
Thats a good thing!
