Amazing
Ich finde die "House of Strombo"-Version unvergleichlich, aber diese hier liebe ich auch. Sie sind unterschiedlich: die eine mehr nach innen gerichtet, die andere ist expressiver. Aber beide gehen unter die Haut und machen deutlich, dass so außergewöhnliche Live-Autritte schöpferische Augenblicke sind, in denen etwas Einmaliges, Neues entsteht.

...as someone who LOVED/WORSHIPED Spacemen 3 for 30 (!) years now I am sorry to see that both Jason and Peter have gotten so boring over the years, Jason in incorporating orchestras and over arranging and thus getting light years away from the original fire of the original band and Peter for trying to hang on to the original Spacemen 3 stripped down sound/groove and only occasionally managing to pull it off. This is not one of those times. This band has no clue how to do a minimalist groove. Nope. Just my 2 cents ladies and gentlemen. Peace out.....
I AM old. Fact is, 60 is not young anymore, however "pathetic" is an opinion, and as they say - just like something else, everyone has one.
I've never thought of Spectrum as trying to hang onto the same Spacemen minimalism. Maybe Recurring... But Spectrum sits appropriately right between Spacemen and EAR and if anything just serves as the transition. Late Spectrum is hardly surprising to collapse into what I think sounds like the complete self indulgent experimentation of EAR. At least at the time, it was clearly the direction he wanted to go. Spiritualized did sadly get boring as hell. By the time you finish Ladies and Gentlemen, its like, ok, get a new theme or idea to sing about....Let It Come Down would have been fine, if Pierce hadn't already done Lazer, Pure, and Ladies. Feels like he got stuck.

yeah- but the ‘original spacemen 3 stripped down sound’ was pete’s sound, it’s his sound that he created in that band, or his signature sound of you like, and he’s got all rights to carry it over to other projects, incorporated with the EAR ambience, so the stripped down minimalistic psychedelia that spacemen 3 produced was mainly petes efforts, jason was more into the strings side of things and the sounds of the raw instruments whereas sonic was into the synthesis sides of things, so the synthesis stripped down heavy minimalistic psych was petes thing, so he can carry it across if he likes, it’s his sound, his signature one…

Great Krautrock, Damo can't stop singin', it's his meditation on a free musical way of life...! He was discovered by CAN in Munich, in the streets, while he was singing, and joined their gig later as the new voice, the same evening...
