A Hike Around Frontenac - Our 3 Day Thru-Hike of the Perimeter Trail
On May 11 2024, as the black flies began to bite, Jaime and I began our 3 day thru-hike of Frontenac Provincial Park's Perimeter Trail. This 48 km trek had been on our trip list for a while and The Friends of Frontenac's Perimeter Hike Challenge was the perfect catalyst to get us on the trail. Join us on our hike through one of Southern Ontario's most beautiful and historic hardwood forests. See the challenges we faced, how we overcame them, and get to know us a bit better, as we showcase our latest hiking adventure!

A Solo Whitewater Trip Down The Mississagua River
มุมมอง 6076 หลายเดือนก่อน
While the water was running high in early April of 2024, I ventured out to Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park to solo paddle down the Mississagua River. This would be a learning experience and test all my skills as I navigate fast moving water through Class 1 and Class 2 rapids. Did I have a drysuit and float bags for safety? Not exactly. But did I have the proper training certification to avoi...
A Quick Fall Trip into Kawartha Highlands
มุมมอง 3959 หลายเดือนก่อน
In late September, I took a quick trip into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park to familiarize myself with an area I had not travelled yet. I wanted to see what some of the portages looked like and gauge some distances for future bigger trips. It became a perfect opportunity to bring my friend Matt and a great opportunity for him to gain more experience in the backcountry. We spent 3 days paddli...
Paddling Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands - Head Lake to Crooked Lake
มุมมอง 1.3K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Less than one week after paddling the French River in July of 2023, we ventured out again as a couple to explore a beautiful stretch of Queen Elizabeth II Wildland Provincial Park. In this video we launch at the southern end of Head Lake, making our way north to Crooked Lake where we find excellent fishing and a few days of peaceful solitude. Come along and join us on this adventure as we find ...
Paddling The Old Voyageur Route Along The French River
มุมมอง 4K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
In July 2023, Jaime and I headed into French River Provincial Park for 4 days to paddle the historic Old Voyageur Route. Although the first day was windy and choppy, the remainder of our trip was calm and beautiful. We hope you enjoy watching this awesome adventure as much as we did going on it!
Paddling the Serpentine/Camp Creek Loop in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. Episode 3.
มุมมอง 226ปีที่แล้ว
Back in May 2023, I carried out my plan to paddle down Camp Creek in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. I didn't have any information as to what conditions I would encounter because very few, if not zero, people have ever tried it. In this 1 hour series finale, I finally make it to Camp Creek and spend over 10 hours navigating my way south, back to my car. It wasn't a relaxing day by any means...
Paddling the Serpentine/Camp Creek Loop in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. Episode 2.
มุมมอง 158ปีที่แล้ว
In early May 2023, I decided to kayak into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park and try to venture down Camp Creek. On day 2, I make my way up to Little Anstruther Lake to see if I can find the way in to Clanricarde Lake. Join me in this episode as I paddle and portage from North Rathburn, through 5 lakes, and up Camp Creek to the northern end of the park.

In early May 2023, I decided to head solo into Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park to find out just how paddle friendly Camp Creek actually was. I took my kayak into the park and headed north to Clanricarde Lake before navigating my way down Camp Creek back to the launch. Join me in episode 1 as I paddle to North Rathbun Lake and make camp.
Solo Kayaking in Noganosh Provincial Park ~From The Vault~ Fall 2020
มุมมอง 563ปีที่แล้ว
Take a trip with me through Ontario's Noganosh Provincial Park. This is a solo trip I took during the Autumn leaf change back in 2020. I took a bunch of great footage but ended up not being able to edit it until we recently upgraded our computer. Now in 2023, I want to share with you the beauty and wonders of this non-operating provincial park located 3.5 hours north of Toronto. I'm really prou...
Snowshoeing The Stubb's Falls Loop

My son and I snowshoed the scenic Stubb's Falls Loop at Arrowhead Provincial Park on his 13th birthday. Pulk sled was a bit tippy for filming with no load but it was an overall success.
PULK SLED BUILD 2020
มุมมอง 5714 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show you step by step how to modify a regular Pelican sled into an amazing pulk sled for better winter adventures. My use will be for snowshoeing so measurements reflect those needed for that specific activity. I'll be taking this out trekking soon and give everyone a look at how it works out.
Highlands Backpacking Trail - Algonquin Park, Canada
มุมมอง 1945 ปีที่แล้ว
Come with me as I solo hike the 35 km Highlands Backpacking Trail in Algonquin Park. This time lapse covers the entire trail which I completed on October 9th (12.8 kms) and 10th (22.1 kms), 2019. Check out at 1:05 for an awesome sequence of the morning mist clearing off of Head Lake.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. My dad took me in there when I was 17-18. We were able to park at farmer Perry’s farm and launch there. On the river between Head lake and Fishhog lake. We didn’t have to deal with the wind on Head Lake. I’d love to take my boy (24 now) in there. Where to park was always my question. So where did you park?
Nice video dude but please learn to J stroke or Canadian stroke…what you’re doing is called the “goon” stroke. If you are near Pickering I would be happy to help you with some better strokes. Not meant to be insulting.
That big fly-in hunt camp was up for sale a few months ago, might still be listed.
Well done! Thanks for putting this video together and for the flora and fauna ID. I hiked into 1D from Arab lake on a July evening. I encountered a lot of deer and fewer bugs than you had. The section from Flagpole hill to the turnoff to site 1 was a bit rougher than I had anticipated.
@TheFleetcaptain210 Glad you enjoyed it! It really is a beautiful park to hike in, but yes, it can be a bit technical in spots. I think I'll return again next year for a solo hike.
That's wild - Thomas & I did the same trip in September. No fish for us though :(
Yeah, that was one heavy large mouth.
Sure was! Headed straight into the weeds to try to lose my lure, but I got er out and it ended up being my PB at 3 lbs 9 oz.
Nice trip. I spend 3 night walking around the park 2 years ago the weekend after Victoria Day. Many many bugs and i stayed a 10d also, great site. So many bugs that when the sun went down, only then i noticed the background hum thru the forest went quiet
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed! You really gotta be prepared for those May blackflies on the trail.
Great video! It's cool that you guys did this continuously over a few days. I love backpacking and canoeing at Frontenac! Site #10D is pretty nice. I have yet to go yo cluster #1 though.
Thanks Katana! We really enjoyed 10D and site 1 was nice due to no other campers but it is exposed and windy off Buck Lake.
Agree that 10D is a nice site. Site 10 is a great starting point to portage into the interior.
Yeah I sure as hell would be giving that millipede a REAL wide berth!!!!😱
Thank god it let's itself be known with such bright colours. Not something I want making it's way into my tent, that's for sure!
@@trippingandtrekking no kidding!!!! That thing ranks up there with wolf spiders😱😱😱
did you have to pay for parking at head lake?
No, we parked at the south end and there was no charge. Hope you enjoyed the video.🙂
My family loves Kawartha Highlands! Because of going with my father and 11 year old twin boys we've done no to one easy portage trips, so seeing the harder to reach lakes I enjoy seeing through videos like yours. Some nice sites scattered in this park and lots of beautiful scenery!
We're going to keep exploring all the lesser travelled areas of the park. It's one of our favourite places and there's so much to see.
@@trippingandtrekking sounds like fun!
Gettin' tired yet?!
That's my secret, I'm always tired.
12:30 Pretty wild to not wear any shoes and step on that!! :)
Watching your video now and looks like you guys had a great fall trip... subbed.
Thanks! It was a fun time for sure!
Qe 2 sounds like some sort of ship ive heard that before somewhere . The princess Eugenie its a gun platform super tonner battleship its designed to bring the biggest guns possible to pound the shoreline battleships like this were previously thought to be out of date not anymore with a few helicopters n a sub or two . Oh . Yeah anyway we thought when Elizabeth died charkes would legalize the weed but no only a tiny appeasement nrly something like that called cbd so we thought this its because he didnt actually have a gd experience with it pushed by bullies maybe
Very nice. QEIIWL is a hidden gem!!
Thanks! It really is a gem 💎!
Liked the video. Also the thumbnail!
Thanks! We're trying hard to put out quality long form videos.
Thomas & I (Tim) enjoyed the same views this past September! We also had rough waves and wind in and out on Head Lake. Nice lunker & great video! Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed the video (and the park)!
Great video guys! Looked like you had an awesome trip.
It was definitely one of our favourite trips!
Nice video! it seemed like a fun trip.
It was pretty amazing. Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful trip
I'm literally going to leave this on my 65 inch tv for the next hour
Nice trip. We hope to head down that way this year. Looks like you had nice weather down on Georgian Bay.
love the content, keep up the good work.
Another great video. Thanks!
Wow the Serpentine loop is so pretty! Was the jump/hop water crossing at 16.42 part of the official portage? If so, that wouild definitely be crazy hard to get across with a canoe or kayak(especially alone, as you were)!
It certainly is! That portage was north on the way into Little Anstruther, so not official.
Great video! With beautiful waterfalls and sunsets! Plus it's impressive you didall those portages with a kayak! Which OTG meal did you have?
Lasagna! Bought a bunch at the Canoe Symposium this past spring. And thank you! I'm slowly getting the hang of editing. Glad you enjoyed the episode, lots more to come!
@@trippingandtrekking Lasanga sounds good. I was at the winter camping symposium this past winter and bought some OTG meals there. Can't recall which ones I got off hand, but I've saved a couple for a upcoming September backpacking trip.
Nice video. I did that route with my son a few years back, very beautiful area to explore. Good thing you found the valve for your filtration system. I always carry a bottle of Pristine or some purification tablets as an emergency backup, in the event that my gravity system fails.
Thank you. Episode 3 (Camp Creek) is almost done being edited. Stay tuned!
Great video! I did this trip last year as well. Check the link below for a DIY solution for a yoke that I created for my Pelican. I think mine is the older version of the same kayak you have. This yoke will be a game changer for your trips. Trust me! 😁

Nice! Looking forward to episode 2. Also love the Parks stickers on your water bottle. Cheers Tim
Great job! I loved the heron scene, you caught it just right. If you add some maps it would be better. I've watched a few canoe trips through there, and I'd love to check it out this year, though I would go further east to John Lake and at least consider the portage to Kelsey Lake. Keep up the good work. More enthusiasm when you talk would be nice. If you remember that you're talking to an audience instead of a camera, you'll do fine. Again, great views and editing.
Thanks for the constructive criticism. I am working on trying to be more comfortable in front of the camera. This was my first time using editing software so hopefully my videos will keep getting better. I may return to Nogonash this year too and try to venture a bit farther. Also thanks for watching and helping our channel grow.

Nice area. Are you using a GoPro?
Beautiful hike!
