TNT #249: Slowing Down and Organizing the Shop's Scrap Wood Pile
In this video, I take advantage of a rainy day to finally go through at least one of my piles of scrap / left over lumber piles to see what I have, throw away what I do not need, and put it back in a way that takes up a little less space. In doing so, I discover that I have enough left overs for a future build project I'm planning .

TNT #248: DYI Stackable Produce Crates Woodworking Build Project
มุมมอง 4769 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
In this video, I use up some surplus hardwood flooring material to build a set of stackable produce bins. Gearing up for my onion and potato harvest, I wanted something to store them in for the winter as we use them up. I think they turned out pretty good, also my first time ever doing box joints for the bin corners. Over all size is about 14" x 22". Be good project idea for those into homestea...
TNT #247: Make any Gas Can work 100% Better / Swap Nozzle & Add a Vent
มุมมอง 62419 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Amazon Link: amzn.to/3WkGKj9 In this video, I take some 'newish' gas cans that everyone hates because they are hard to use and have terrible fuel flow through them, and for really cheap, fix them to work 100 x better by simply adding a new nozzle, but more so, by adding a vent valve. If you have not done this already I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
TNT #246: Stone Patio Build Project using Limestones from the Property
มุมมอง 115วันที่ผ่านมา
In this video I take a few weekends to build a stone patio out of limestones picked up on the property. All in, I spent about $200 on landscape fabric, a bit of sand, and 10 bags of decorative river stone. Make no mistake, it was a lot of work, especially where I had to build a dry stack retaining wall first. Like the video, consider giving a Super Thanks, but certainly give it a Thumbs UP. Tha...

Amazon Link: amzn.to/3zyTZoD [currently out of stock as I post this video] In this video, I use a mid buster from Titan Attachments to simplify the back breaking job of digging potatoes. If you have a tractor, and the space, I highly recommend. When I went back and re-tilled the rows to get ready to plan beans I saw that I missed 4 potatoes, not bad, sure beats using a pitch fork. You were probably on speed 1, try it on speed 3!!!
Thank Jordan
The battery terminals add-on where did you get that from would love to put that on my tractor
Hello Fullers1966, in the description of the attached video is a link to the jumper terminals I used on my tractor. th-cam.com/video/Q0w2ob1zXu8/w-d-xo.html
Nice project. I liked the burned brand better than the medallion 👍👍
I do as well, but it is hard to pull off with a consistent look.
Nice project.
It was a fun one. Use them quite a bit.
Turned out great.
Why thank you David. Working on making up another 3 at the moment, have been using the 3 that I made for this video quite a bit... and it is almost pear picking time, as well as squash and pumpkin time is coming up soon. Hope all is well.
Very neat project, but if I’m gonna be a copycat I would like a couple measurements.
I’ll get you some dimensions David. Overall I know it is 14” x 22”. I’m in the process of making 3 more out of that bundle of flooring that was leaning up against the truck. Just ran all the pieces through the planner and cut to length, this weekend will be gluing into panels.
Posted the measurements on my community page on my channel for you 👍
@@TryNewThings thank you very much.
After retiring from my home construction business after 32 years, I am traveling around the country in my Motorhome, having limited space i am fully equipped with the Worx arsenal…very happy…
I'm jealous, sounds like a great way to enjoy retirement. Also thank you so much for taking the time on your travels to watch the video and even more so, leaving a great comment. Safe travels GENECARP.
Just buy a metal gas can.
May I ask where you found the pipes? I bought this same type of fireplace, but the seller didn’t have any pipes to go with it
I actually do not remember... I did not have trouble finding it though. I'll have to check the diameter to see if I can find it again. It is galvanized, single layer, came flat and there is a seam that overlaps to put it together. I'll try and remember to check the dimensions when I'm back out the farm this weekend.
Looks good! 👍
Why thank you JW! Will look better when I get the perimeter wall done, but getting it that far wore me out, so need a break before going back at it.
I miss when gas cans came with vent caps. It made since to avoid pressure build up on the cans.
Full agreement. I've seen these type swell up looking like about to burst because I have left it on the trailer in the sun too long etc. Then to fix, you loosen the cap and self-vent to the atmosphere anyways, defeating the purpose of not having a vent in the first place. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, much appreciated.
Hey Chris..enjoyed the video...i despise the new style nozzles too. Question..any chance of debris getting inside the gas jug when drilling the pilot hole? Steve...ps, i still enjoy the coasters i purchased!
There is a chance yes. I drilled them while empty then used a small amount of gas to swirl around and clean them out but did not see any particles, but would agree it could happen. Half of my cans do have an internal filter screen that would catch any plastic bits but the other half do not.
I need to do this sometime. My containers only have top handles. How you suppose to hold it in fill position without a back handle 🤦♂️. Nozzle used to take 3 hands before i cut a bunch of latches and springs out. What brand of containers are yours?
No idea what the better of the two is, but the one with the ridiculous nozzle is a "Midwest Can" www.midwestcan.com/product/5-gallon-gasoline-can/
Thanks I'm in Frankfort and ordering 1 now
You opting for the backhoe Tim? I have yet come across anyone who has gotten the belly mower.
Where can you find the rubber seal on the inside of the door? I need to replace mine. TYI
I did not replace mine, but bookmarked this site in the event I have to. store.antiqueappliances.com/Door-Gaskets_c_8.html
Why don't your tanks have vent holes already?
Government regulations. Not sure if the case everywhere, but here they are regulated. Purpose? Fuel vapors?
Great list. Thanks for the links. Very nice & helpful video. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it Jeff. It was a fun video to make as well. Really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment as well, thank you.
Good idea. My gosh - the world we live in today. For the sake of safety, they now manufacture gas cans that require 3 hands to operate and end up spilling more fuel than the old style. It may just be me - but - if someone can't operate the old-style gas cans, then maybe, just maybe, they have bigger problems then pouring gas and the rest of us shouldn't have to suffer because of it.
I could not agree more. Thanks for the feedback Paul!
How are you feeling since the "attack"? Looks like you're back on track.
@@Paul_JZ 110%
@@TryNewThings Glad to hear it!
RK had a similar spout but 9 bucks a piece. The only problem I incurred was little strap holding vent cap failed. I did have better luck placing nozzle in tank, then opening vent. Thanks for sharing.
Is it worth it over things like clips?
Never used clips. I’m assuming advantage there would be you can reuse the clips. This is very quick and cheap. What I’m interested in finding out is how well / long the tape lasts over time UV exposure etc. for garden veggies only has to hold up for a season, but for my berries, kiwi and grapes would like to see if it lasts longer.
Nice video and better patio. I see that you left the hard work off camera. I also noticed that you have a hard time controlling the main arm of the backhoe side-to-side and up and down. I have the same issue on my RK25. - especially side-to-side.
Thanks Paul, and yes, no point in seeing me struggle to much trying to move around 50 - 60 lbs stones, that would just be embarrassing. I do get a little bit smoother the longer I sit in the backhoe seat, but at the end of the day it isn't the smoothest backhoe on the market is it, sort of glad to hear I'm not the only one that is a bit jerky. Still beets using a shovel for sure!
Tried to move my g-body and the car came off three times. I slowed down, put material down for the gaps on the floor. Where am i going wrong ?
Honestly not quite sure what your issue is. What is a 'g-body'? Is it because there is not enough weight on the dollies? Also looked at mine while I was out at the barn yesterday and noted that each one has one wheel that has a lock. I would make sure that all of those are not engaged.
You should do an update video at the end of the season.
Either that or save it for next spring for the '1 year later' review. Honestly they are holding up great so far.
👍
😊
Thank you for the friendly smile emoji.
That looks great. It had to be a lot harder than the video showed. When I was a kid, I helped my Dad built a three foot high retaining wall. That was work. Job well done.
Cut my teeth on a circular stacked stone flower bed at the front of the property, then a small wall at the front of the barn, then a big wall at the entrance gate, now with a place to sit and BBQ. Even with the practice, I don’t believe I got much better at it, certainly did not get quicker at it, and have not learned to enjoy the process a great deal. But I sure like the look of stone walls when they are done, and it has given me a great use for stones that I would otherwise just pile up somewhere. I will say, spring or fall are better choices than 90+ degree summer days to try this. David, as always thank you!
That is going to look amazing when it's all completed Chris!
I have that tool. I love it.
It is crazy that I had no idea that it even existed, and crazier still that my wife and daughter found some tool I didn’t have, that I really needed. Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment.
Thank you for showing this video. I love mine.
Hey that is pretty slick!!!
Been there, done that. Welcome to the club.
Very nice! Definitely will be purchasing one of them.
Looks like the right tool for the job.
It’s a ridge board…?
It has happened to me more than once....
Managed to wrestle it back on. I had to laugh about it.
How many pounds do you think you didn't find? Sure made it look easy. Much better than digging by hand.
When I went back and tilled it and made new rows to plant beans I found 4-5 chewed up taters. I did go through loose soil with a rake before tilling and found quite a few more (easily)
@@TryNewThings That is not a bad run.
Time for some TnT French Fries 😋😋
Fries would be awesome, but I'll take Potatoes almost any way you cook them.
Sir Winston Churchill once said, why stand when you can sit, why sit when you can lay down. I like your version of this, why dig potatoes by hand when the mid buster can do it for you!
Wise words
i liked that. how do you know that you got them all? Did you have to go through again to make sure you got ones that maybe didn't get exposed?
Used a rake through the fluffed up dirt. Basically just pulling the dirt back into the trench. To guess I’d say 20% were not visible on the surface, but easy to uncover since the ground was real loose.
I have a subsoiler, wonder if that sweep could be purchased separately. I purchased a post brush puller from Titan and it had hose ends that did not fit my tractor so I had to buy new ends at a cost of almost $100. Their answer was that was only ends they stocked. So I bought them twice. Kinda left me with a bad taste.
I know you can buy them on Amazon, not sure though if bolts would line up. Let me find you a link.

Do you find the deer will jump your 4’ electric fence? I’m in nwpa and have just. 28” electric fence around our garden and it keeps the deer out. They don’t attempt to jump it at all.
Great Question! Last year I only had the one garden down the hill a bit from this one, and had the electric fence up all the way around it and the deer did jump my fence to get to my crops. This year I added the 7' mesh fence and so far, no breaches by any non-flying critters so far in either the upper or lower garden.
thay said it was water in our gas fixed it for awhile now it's flooding out
They got it running long enough to no longer be under warranty?
Yep, that’s what my cup holder looks like too. Working on an ammo can tool box located on tip over cage. Why these tractor manufacturers can’t put a tool box on these vehicles is beyond me.
I have a factory tool box but does not fit with the seat from the backhoe, so rather than take it off every time I put on the backhoe, I just leave it off. The cup holders became default pin storage.
That's exactly what I use my factory cup holders for!
Use those old style turn light holes (Black plugs on the fender) to store your Rop pins in if you have to lower your ROPs.. That is where I store mine.
How did you get your Cell Phone to fit in the phone holder with the protector on? My "OtterBox" will not fit..
Must be a slim case. Fits perfect.
That's as handy as a pocket on a shirt! I thought it was just me that kept bolts and pins in his cup holders! Temps going into the high 30°s here for the next few days...way too hot for me...good time to hang out in the basement shop where it's nice and cool 😎
High 30’s C, that is pushing the limits. Even hotter than it has been here. Did manage to get my beans planted this weekend, so I’m happy about that. Stay cool!
