In this video I show you some of the mods I did the last months. I changed the seat to a custom made one (which is higher) , DNA Air Filter and a Boosterplug, a SW-Motech guard protector, Daytona heated grips, SW-Motech hand guards and SW-motech bar risers. This is my new ride, a Yamaha XT 660 Z Tenere 2009 with Exan exhaust. This is my first thumper (single cylinder engine) and it is great fun to ride. Going to do some traveling and (wild) camping so more videos to come.

@@debaron after 70k km's on the Tenere (commuting, touring, adventure riding, amateur rally) i had a KTM 690 for 10 years and since 2 years back to basic on a somewhat classic yamaha TT600RE

Great video as always! Does the little flap on the forks help with the turbulence in the highway? Also, how did you attach it without removing the hitch?

Thanks! Yes we did mostly road because at most places we rode it was not allowed to go offroad. We both ride with Heidenau Scout K60 tires, I think they are great!

I'm in the market for my second 990 Adv. after putting 110K kms on the 2009 I used to own (and miss), is there anyway you can give me info on the headlight kit you use? Looking for options for the next one. Already know about the 4K (Italy), Rade Garage, Aurora and Hard Enduro (Unit 31) options. Is this a different one?

Great travel video. Thanks. As a Tenere 660 owner myself, can I ask if you have fitted a Power Commander, Kevs Mod to your bike with the addition of an aftermarket exhaust? If so, I would appreciate your thoughts 👍
Thanks! I don’t have a Power Commander or Kevs Mod but do have a boosterplug, it makes the engine runs smoother.

Fantastic, just picked up a 05 950 Adventure with 31k miles, did the SAS and EPC removal and now goes like a stabbed rat through 1st to 3rd gear, just loves to be ridden any way you want and on any surface too, well happy, my 2012 KTM 990 SMT is a spare bike in the Garage now! 😂😂

Im going to look at a 2006 950 with 56000 kms on it. Its been very well looked after by original owner. Think it will last awhile longer? I think I can get it for $6000 Canadian. Thanks
Where did/how did you install the boosterplug?
It’s installed under the seat. You can find the exact place (with pictures) in the Boosterplug instructions!

This may be the best bike ever, esp. for the lack of technology and its mid-rangeness in everything. Also power will not kill you so easily. Never breaks down, easy to repair... For one person, 65-75kg, 182cm, just perfect. I also have those same mods except for the exhaust. I prefer keeping my weight at 70kg so suspension is not too soft for me.

Ik zie dat je ook een ktm 950 heb gehad. Vanwaar de switch van de 950 naar de tenere?
Klopt inderdaad! Ik zocht een motor die (iets) lichter was, zuiniger en betrouwbaarder. En die heb ik gevonden in de Tenere. En het mindere vermogen vind ik eigenlijk ook leuker, zo kun je steeds vol op het gas!
@@debaron ah oke! Cool cool. Klinkt logisch inderdaad. Maar betrouwbaarder? Problemen gehad met de 950? Ik dacht dat die LC8 blokken vrij robuust waren. Ik ben nu aan het kijken voor een nieuwe motor, wellicht een 950, dus vandaar de vragen!
@@dehCremus ik heb helaas best wat (dure) probleempjes gehad met m’n 950 waardoor ik het vertrouwen een beetje kwijtraakte, ze staan er wel een beetje om bekend … Overigens wel een hele gave motor waar ik veel plezier aan heb beleefd, maar de Tenere maakt me gelukkiger ;)

Hi Did you notice the bike picking up better bellow 3000 rpm after the mods? Or does it still feel like shaking a lot before 3000 rpm when on the "wrong gear"
Hi, yes it is picking up better below 3000rpm. Less shaking and much smoother.
@@debaron Nice, thanks. I have a xt660za and recently got the same exan exhaust but in black and a DNA filter. No wide filter cover, but tried it without snorkel. Also no boosterplug but I have the variable resistor mod.

@@debaron yes it is riding pretty good. I have to try the wind buffeting mod on the suspension and see if it improves street cruising at 100 kmh. Trying to wheelie but it's hard. Power wheelie seems to almost happen in first as a clutch wheelie, but you have to move your body and use suspension rebound

I have a low miles XTZ , is the boosterplug worth fitting? Ive fitted it on previous bikes, couldnt really tell the difference.
I think it is worth fitting. The engine runs smoother, less “cranky“.
Does the booster plug connect under the tank?
Yes! But you don’t have to remove the tank to install.

How is the windprotection from this RadeGarage windscreen compared to the OEM one? Less turbulence around your head?
It is better. Still some turbulence, but less than the OEM windscreen.

Thanks for a reply, I'm exactly the same height and looking into buying a tenere. Quick question: Don't you feel like it's to tiny a small for you? Have you done any upgrades to make it higher? Don't you feel a lack of power with one cylinder and 35kw? :)
@@Deividuxss it is a great bike for tall guys. It doesn’t feel to small for me. The stock seat is bad because of it’s shape and it’s to low. So i had the seat custom made. Now it is more flat and higher. I can recommend buying a Tenere, great and reliable bike.

@@Deividuxss well, it is not the best. But it is fine for now. I think i’ll give it an upgrade in the future, if i go off road more. You can always ask, no problem.

had one with leo vinces sounds amazing ; akrapovics sounds maybe even better ; never heard arrow on LC8, but straight piped old africa twin with arrow was the best sounding engine i ever heard ;
