Re not being able to check if your twist locks are locked or not, you could put a couple of blobs of tipex on each twist lock and tripod coupling when they are in the locked position so when you use it the next time, you’ll know if the twist locks are not locked because the two blobs of tipex won’t be lined up. Hope that helps.

Thanks for that Gazza what a good idea. I will give that a go PS: It is still the best tripod setup I have ever used and the only tripod I have looked forward to using when I go out with the camera. the tripod and the Acratech panoramic head & levelling base are the perfect combination.

@@GSPhotographics Marcus also said the same re the enjoyment of using a tripod in his ‘How to use a tripod like a Boss’ video (You will have probably watched it). He also said he’s seen countless clients struggling with their own complicated tripods and started making excuses not to use it. For the money it is incredible isn’t it.

@@Gazzab6 Having a good tripod makes a major difference to your photography especially in landscapes. I use to you a Manfrotto O55 carbon fibre tripod which is a really nice tripodl but making the change to a Kingjoy really has made a huge difference and is worth every penny I paid for it. It was Marcus that showed me the tripod at the Birmingham Photography Show last year and he gave me a very good price on it as well. So yes I am a big fan of the Kingjoy Tripod.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying your tripod Glen, I’m really enjoying mine. I think the quality is outstanding and Marcus said the Solid Rock series have the quick locks on so you only have to turn the twist locks about a quarter of a turn to unlock and lock them. When I went to photograph Buachaille Etive, I parked in the little car park you passed just before you got to the main road (about 500 yards). It had a couple of camper vans in it when I arrived at 6am. If you look on Google Maps Street View of that little car park, you will see Marcus doing a workshop. We stayed at the Caravan and Motorhome Club site at Bunree when we were over that side. You got some really great images in this video too.

Thanks Gazza .. Pleased you enjoyed the photos. I had a couple of days at Glencoe & Glen Etive then I moved up to Skye where I had another 3 days. Then on the way back to Kent I stopped at Holy Island to take a couple more photos. Had a really good trip and got some nice photos. P.S. Just spotted Marcus on google earth in Glen Etive. 👍

I was Glenfinnan Viaduct just before mid September and I had the exact same weather as you which is best for the steam apparently. There were a lot of people, in their hundreds and I’m glad I had the extra long stainless steel spikes (55mm) on my Kingjoy as it was very boggy (I was higher up and to the right of your position when I went). The train stopped just as it arrived at the viaduct before setting off again and letting a lot of steam out. There were a lot of workman all over the viaduct which I think is why the train stopped for safety reasons. I’m going to have to do a lot of cloning to clone the workmen out. Hope the tripod is serving you well Glen.

When I saw the first segment of your video, I thought to myself what an amazing looking place so looked the location up in Google Maps only to realise I had been there when we stayed in the caravan in Kent. It’s a great place isn’t it. You managed to get some lovely images Glen.

Hi Gazzab6.. Yes Knole Park is a really nice location for photography. I tend to go a couple of times a year as I am a National Trust member. Pleased you enjoyed the photos. all being well I am planning to back to Scotland in October this year so I am really looking forward to that. I will definitely be visiting Skye again while I am up there. Hopefully will get lots of fantastic photos and some video of the trip. 👍

Good to see you out with your new tripod Glen and it sounds like it’s exceeding your expectations. Correct me if I’m wrong but it looked like you were using the tripod with the rubber feet. If you thought the tripod was steady with the rubber feet, wait until you try it with the spikes. In fact I would highly recommend using the spikes as they can make a huge difference - Marcus demonstrates this in one of the Photography Online videos called ‘What’s the Point?’. I bought the 5.5cm stainless steel spikes - they can be purchased from the Mc2 Photography / Photography Online shop for £30. It looks like your images turned out okay with no blur caused by the wind.

Hi Gazzab6 Yes your 100% correct I still had the rubber feet on but was out this morning and used the spikes .. I will also be purchasing the longer spikes. I am so pleased with the tripod and would recommend it to anyone .. I am a big fan of the photography online show so have seen the video that Marcus did with the spikes. Also Used the Flat Plate on the tripod today and really pleased with that as well so all thumbs up from me. Very much looking forward to taking it up to Skye later in the year. Thanks for your comments and subscribing I really do appreciate it👍

Marcus sorted me a Kingjoy C85 out too and I have to say the build quality is fantastic. I have read a few reviews of the C85 and two of them were from previous Gitzo owners. Both reviewers said they preferred the C85 to their equivalent Gitzo and one went on to say it was actually better and the value for money was simply off the scale. He also said his Gitzo cost him £1,130 after buying the accessories (levelling base / bowl and steel spikes) which come as standard with the Kingjoy C85.

I have to say that having used the Kingjoy C85 now for several shoots I am so pleased I decided to get one. It really is a big improvement on my Manfrotto 055. The build quality on the C85 is top class so I can see this tripod lasting for many years. Very pleased you are also enjoying the C85 Gazzab6 👍

@@GSPhotographics I kept seeing images of the initial C85 with a flat plate before the version with the levelling base / bowl came out. I emailed Kingjoy to enquire about purchasing one and they said they don’t put the flat plate on their website but it is available to buy for £20 plus postage so they are going to send me one. I’ll probably use the flat plate with my ball head and the levelling base with my video head (for wildlife long lens). Just letting you know in case you’d be interested doing the same.
