A quick note that the quality of this tape goes quite rapidly downhill towards the end, any my trusty JVC can't get a hold of the picture, meaning it flickers and jitters about. As a bonus, though, why not stick around for David Frost looking at Guiness World Records for a bit?

This tape is pretty shaky I'm afraid, so expect some banding and shakes, and I'm afraid the recorder decided midway through the final break that they wanted to save some tape space, so we go from Allied Carpets to someone getting throttled.

A short snippet of a documentary that is unlikely to be elsewhere on TH-cam (I might be wrong on that, but just in case you wanted to watch four minutes of a documentary from 1983, here it is!)

Clive James on Television October(?) 1984
Best era of Top Gear. Especially loved William Woollard.
There was him, Bob Holness, and Nicholas Parsons. You can shove the rest!!
I don't think this is the right date. The Prince and Princess of Wales announced their separation on this day.
I had a 1.6D Fiesta around 1988, went to Blackpool for the weekend, overslept on the Sunday & had to get back for a christening in Walsall, drove it flat out all the way back on the M6, 100mph all the way back , my ears were ringing & had white finger by the time I got back lol
Do you still have the entire recording of The Canterville Ghost? I saw this at the time (but in the HTV region) and now I'm surprised how many ad breaks there were during it. I would love to see the continuity intro to this and also the scenes where they split for the ad breaks and return. I have put up a couple versions of the movie myself but would be fascinated to see which scenes go into ad breaks. Also, do you have the proper TV preview trailer for it, which would have shown on the run up to its premier? I was impressed to see the ad break title-card for the movie, the artwork I haven't seen since '87. I think the musical sting used in it was not used anywhere else in the film. Thanks for the upload!
4 jackpot winners won £2.4 million pounds in the national lottery draw. 3 white numbers in the draw.
Chris Goffey is like an 80's David Mitchell
People are taking the piss out of this car ..But please just hang on... Let's look at the competition in 1983 Austin Metro... Renault 5 ...I rest my case. I had the pleasure of owning a MK 2 Ford Fiesta many years ago. I can confirm these were a cracking little car. Back in the day before everybody drove around in a big dumb 2-ton SUV. Well done Ford for this little gem of a car.
A Choke pull😂
19 stage anti corrosion treatment? I think that must have been an option mine didn’t have.

1989, the year i got married, lifetime ago....
Back when things were simple
@12:24 ish , if she is driving why is the speedo on 0?
Hmm, how much was William woolard on for this promo film 🤣🤣
He was brilliant. He should never have come off 'Pick Of The Pops' in 1972. Sadly he passed away in 2006, but his memory lives on. Good to hear all these links dating from the period August '70 to July '71.
Such soft speaking from Ckarkson.
Who's announcing?. From Joe. X
The Clive James Screen Test
Wow I remember exactly what I was doing when this was broadcast originally.
Best DJ ever!
850i 12 cylinder & a paltry 300 hp...boy have we come a long way today.
they still feel like monster engines when you drive though, you wouldn't think they were weak or anything like that
Time on the clock: 11:59 pm.

Twix, Flora & Supersoft were among the adverts.
Advert breaks 1st news to end.
Donor Card & Castrol GTX were among the adverts.
Clocks went forward by a hour.
you can smell the smoke and whisky. Most of those dudes are probably brown bread now.
Cigar lighter, designed for the women driver then??
Lets be honest, Fords marketing department was at the top of its game on this one!
Oh my
this was one of the best engines. It was a Deutz engine. a manufacturer who produced tractorengines. 3.7liter diesel on 60miles or 100km in real. we had a Ford Fiesta with 660 000km. i sold them because of a Porsche 912. I was an Idiot. in the end the car was running 165km/h on straight without problems. with the second clutch.
Love the dollar store Phil Colin’s drum parts 😂😂
I still drive a sierra
SPEAK UP!!!
I began taking my driving lessons in 1984 in a Fiesta Mk 1. After the first few lessons my teacher turned up in a Mk 2 1.1 Ghia, same colour as this one. I seem to recall it had a little bit of a thrum (pre-growl) to the engine note.
The side body mouldings save my husband a fortune in repairs----imagine an advertising copywriter saying that now----😊.
Peugeot 205? *Cough* Voted Car of the Decade by CAR Magazine in 1990...*Cough, Cough*
Just look how bad fit and finish was on this new car panel gaps hug nothing lines up the light and indicator crooked. The side panels do not fit properly its a disgrace
I bought a 3 year old 1984 Fiesta Popular in 1987, the worst car I have ever owned , "it was a money pit" put me off Ford cars for life
The xjs HE. Rust bucket but beautiful
Loved " Our Tune " I was an avid listener . A part of my youth.
I am .very surprised that no one in all these comments mentioned that the Sierra where suffering from very rusty bottom doors,i had sierra GL and Ghia, nice cars but the bottom of the doors where very rusty.
April Fool's Day, 2024 Watching thos thinking there's no way this was twenty years ago... i can't believe ir! Give it some thought and realised i was right. It was THIRTY years ago!!
What channel is this at 21:43?
2:03 Make Hair Grow.
Saw a dark blue 1.6GL in Hull City Centre early October 1982 that was the first one I saw other than in motor magazines of the time.
They're far better than the modern diesels of today with DPF's fitted.
