VEX IQ Worlds 2024 Opening Ceremonies Keynote Speech
I did a keynote speech at VEX IQ Worlds, as a high school senior, which is absolutely crazy to think about. It was such an incredible experience and I'm so so grateful for the REC Foundation's support and guidance to allow me to have this incredible opportunity. I met so many AMAZING people at worlds and I wish I could have given everybody a shoutout in my speech!!!
Also: The backstage behind the giant screen is really dark. I did a (not secret anymore) handshake with Tyler because he is cool and agreed to do it because I thought it would be fun to do that. The reason I am wearing a yellow bucket hat is because Exothermic Robotics is cool. Also, I am now aged out of V5RC which means I can judge this year :D

hello!! :) this video is about how I create and organize the content of my engineering design notebooks in VEX robotics. it includes information about my past notebooks' structuring, my current process of content production, and some other general tips. I intend this video to be the second in a 3-part series about my engineering notebook process. link to engineering design process video: th-cam...

The Engineering Design Process for VEX Robotics
มุมมอง 1.5Kปีที่แล้ว
hello!! :) in this video, I explain the engineering design process I use when creating content for my team's engineering notebook. it's 9 steps in total, and I compare it to VEX's recommended 5-step process. have a nice day :))
diana! you are so amazing! loved the speech! I tried to call out to you idk if u heard me or not, but you are prob one of my fav people.
This is what our team and I needed. We didn't win anything at worlds, but we certainly tried our best. Oh, and we're going straight into V5RC High School, so wish us luck, haha!
I'm so glad!!!! good luck in hs vrc too :] 🍀
That was a wonderful delivery for that audience - both young and old!
You helped me with learning Engineering Design Process!!! You are the best!!!!
We loved what you said. We have been thinking about how you measure success for a while now. What you said was exactly what we needed to hear and the foundation on which we build our program. Our motto is building more than just robots.
Beautiful and wonderful words you gave. It was an honor for me to witness you deliver it live. Thank you

Success is not victory 🥶🥶 congrats dd u 100% earned this!
no way you're on my for you page DD 😭, congratulations!- parik
I have no words for how amazed I am
At my school I didn't have anybody to teach me about engineering notebooks. This was able to teach me so much at the start of the year and our team was even able to win vex iq excellence at worlds. Thank you for sharing your notebook process. - 10698D
Hi! Thank you for creating this series, it’s been a lot of help! I saw in a previous video that you were doing a digital notebook and I’d like to know your opinion on it compared to doing it physically if possible!
I know I'm not her but I use a digital notebook and it's way easier in my opinion. I was even able to win excellence at worlds this year using one
@@kaikai-e4w Wow that’s amazing! Thanks for ur reply and input, I appreciate it!
hello! this whole series has been very valuable ^o^ what markers/highlighters did you use? i dont want to test any because im scared theyll bleed through lol
I used zebra mildliners for the first and second years, then switched to an amazon dupe of the mildliners (which worked equally well). For the body of text I used Pilot G2 0.5mm in black and for the colored pen headings I used Pilot G2 0.7mm or 1.0mm. Mildliners are awesome if you're doing a smiliar format as I used because they have the thick side and a thin side, but if you're looking for a highlighter that has a thick side and a small side (0.4mm or so) then I recommend the Uni Propus Window highlighters (available on amazon in a pack of five, I believe?) I've recently transitioned to those and they work really well and don't bleed. (Notably however, with the GSM of the paper engineering notebooks these days, only colored marker and sharpies will bleed through iirc) Hope this could answer your question, I'm glad you enjoyed the videos! :)
What school are you from cause your coach must praise you, also this is such an inspiration.
thank you so much!! (my organization is entirely student-led so we don't have coaches.)
@@ddgale Thats so cool that you do student-led and that just makes you more of an inspiration that you can do this
What do you use for the Report Format? I can't seem to find a good application to do it on. Thanks for the videos, theyre extremely helpful!
I currently use Google Documents for easy sharing. I tried using Notion, but it's not free (it has a block cap) and it's a headache to transfer over to Google Slides. Hope this helps! :)
Just curious, would you be interested in joining the vex notebooking server? Would appreciate having you join.
Yes, that'd be amazing! Thank you so much for the invitation! :)
@9MotorGang is this a publicly available server?
Why do you have more header files than cpp files?
we put all the various functions into header files, then assembled them for the auton programs in the cpp files. the reason we had more header files than cpp files is because we have a ton of different categories of individual functions! this arrangement style made our auton finessing easier, as well as debugging. our code was pretty organized... 😂
Do you have code in the header files or just prototypes? If it's just prototypes then I would recommend splitting the autons.cpp into multiple c++ from files.
Can you make a video explaining a Gantt Chart?
thanks good vid
Thank you for posting these videos! They help out a lot for inspiration.
This is honestly a great video; can I have your contact information for further questions?
thanks, i'm so glad you liked it!! feel free to post any questions here in the comments section, and/or on the vexforum ( www.vexforum.com/ ) as well!! :)

Love to see it
