Arrived back in the lab showing you how I make some beats.
From the MPC to Studio One. I like to take a minimum approach. Less is better especially when it comes to making a beat as you see here in this series of videos.

This demonstration changed my mind: i want one
Ok I see. Either way, you can use the 24 analog outs from this. The imported tracks line up always?
Does the key 61 also do the single key chord thing you mentioned?
Yes it does very effectively as well I love it.
Yes sir I just subscribed
Do You Have It Going Out The Studio Bridge Into Your Mackie Line Inputs?
Yes. 1 to 1.
Just wondering if you wife found out LOL !
Just bought one of these brand new from reputable German online seller. The code had already been redeemed before the box was opened, making it unusable. Glad this video came up as I thought I was the only one with this issue...
I was going to say with that presonus mixer you have i see they have 3 db-25 outputs you could run that out to the studio bridge and have automation mixer and all 24 tracks god i would love that mixer, but i see they don't make them anymore !
Yeah I thought about that too after I got rid of the presonus 24.4.2. My loss because that would have been a good combination.
Does it include my sd card sounds ...or only the general sounds that korg offered in the beginning ...? Pls help
Yes but that's kind of backwards though because you can use your sounds that's on your SD card in your computer instead of the keyboard. You can save yourself a lot of headaches doing it that way and then the sounds that you need on off the keyboard you just export those in and mix them.
The silly thing is it took 24 years to make this come alive again ? the last time it was alesis 24 track and mackie 24 tracks interface so happy they made this !
Agreed
Soundcraft is a good brand. Unsung. You really don't hear a lot of bad things about it. That's why I like them. I got My mind sat on the Ghost 24 channel right now.
Nice to see people using these! I'm tempted.
It's a good investment. Please do! Especially if you work outside the box.
@@sandersmediagroup3248 I don't have a nice big old analog board.... so the Tascam Model 24 (or 2400) might be more for me at this stage. If I had a big old Soundcraft Spirit board or similar the Tascam bridge would be a no brainer. Keep up the great videos.
I love that board. It was great. All the work I did in the 90's was done on a Spirit Live.
@@sandersmediagroup3248 Oh nice! I never had one ... but my band recorded in a studio that had one. Maybe I find one someday.
Good video man, thanks. What is all the other gear you have in you right side. Any compressor or eq? The tascam as summing mixer is able to connect to other analog devices to improve the mix?
In my rack there's nothing fancy just a Tascam 2-track recorder which is what I mix down to then I have a behringer four-channel compressor which is great. I also have an Alesis DM5 which is a drum module I can use it to add customized drum kits I can also build. A vocalist pro 2 I believe, I'm not in the studio right now but I know it's a vocalist pro not sure if it's a two or not but anyway I use it for Harmony's especially on backgrounds. let's say if I'm doing a background horn part I can use that for Harmony's and also on vocals because we do know vocals are an instrument and that's basically it. I don't have a lot of fancy outboard gear but I have a million and one plugins that I use sometimes I mostly a proprietary plug in guy but yeah I don't have anything fancy in my rack just some support pieces of equipment.
Thanks for that - been looking at a similar workflow to use the bridge into an analog desk for summing mixing. I'm contemplating either this or something like 3 x ADA8200 Ultragrains + the RME Digiface USB. As you probably know the RME provides 4 x ADAT IO and the Ultragains have 8 in and 8 outs, so 3 of them would fill my 24 track desk, plus provide lots of inputs into the DAW should I need it. Total cost works out cheaper than the Tascam but just need to see what other advantages the Tascam would bring. Keep your videos on this coming as there's not a lot of info out there at the moment!
Thanks a lot. I did look into them RME unit to myself before I decided to get the Bridge. so now that I did everything I need to do with the Bridge I'm moving on to a Studio Live series 3 mixer and stay tuned for some videos on that but thanks a lot for subbing and happy holiday.
Instant subscribe. Sand Castle Studios!!!
Appreciate that! Thanks for subscribing, I hope you enjoy the content.
You got a really good Idea but you need a better Mixing Console, Ive got the Mackie 32.8 Bus Im going to upgrade to the the Bix Six...and basically you can use the Studio Bridge to Mix your 4 Stereo Groups down Synths, Guitars, Keyss and Vocals and use the 4 Monos for Drum Bus Bass Guitar, Bass Snths and your Drum Breaks and changes bus but youve definately solved my routing issue Thanks for the Video
See you got it my friend. I'm going to give you the big thumbs up because I never had anybody on my channel break it down exactly how you did and I've been doing this channel for a long time and had many many many many setups and hopefully some of the things I've been trying to teach here help you but my friend you got it you really got it. Thinking outside the box IS it.
I checked out your channel, and didn’t see any beats🤷🏽♂️
I don't make beats, I teach you how to use your gear so you can make them.
This thing is interesting but I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around it. Good video.
This is pretty Dope stuff man 🔥🔥 Definitely got my wheels turning I found a video on YT back in 08 There was a Geek nerd that converted a 24ch Makie mixer into a audio interface I haven’t been able to find it Perhaps the Powers that be removed the post
I did one recently about running an SSL SiX into an audio interface. Don't know if I still have it up or not I would have to look but yeah that's a pretty interesting concept where you can run everything into the mixing console and then run that mixing console into your interface now what's interesting, if you had like an eight channel interface and an 8 bus let's say for instance Mackie you can run those eight busses into your interface and mix into your daw just as good. just a little food for thought. Peace.
I own a cymatic audio utrack24, I can pretty much do this same set up with it.
I know I was looking at that one also.
@sandersmediagroup3248 I actually got it from Sam Ash before they closed on the last day. I paid $90 for it. It did not have a power supply, so I bought a universal power supply at Best Buy. I tested the unit, and it was good to go. I figured that even if I don't use it I could probably resell it.
Interesting
I've looked into that option too, but they are fairly expensive, second hand - I havent seen one in the UK listed for below £600, typically higher. If you bag one very cheap it would be an option, but I think its better to pay a bit extra for a device that is not second hand and not discontinued, and so is supported and you have a warranty. I just wish there were more devices like the the cymatic/Studio Bridge around
Agreed
Hey man! I've been looking for IO to connect a 24 channel Mackie analog console into my preferred DAW and I just found out about this Studio Bridge. This seems perfect for my hybrid mixing purpose. Love from Finland!
I bought a used one... AVID wouldn't release it to me the way that you should be able to with a transfer of ownership. The seller filled out the paperwork and gave all his information, and they were asking for other info that the seller did not even have. AVID never helped... But the seller did give me the link to the MBox Studio app. That is the only way I was able to use the software. Otherwise it would be a expensive paperweight. But if you do buy second hand, get the seller to give you the download link. If you can't get that from the seller, I would not buy! You can still use the Interface, but you just wont be able to do any of the mixing features or fx features included with the app. You can setup bt and all that you just wont get the app features. I was using it without the app at first, until the seller gave me the DL link.
Yep that's exactly right That's what they told me and SSL is the same way if you buy a piece of used SSL gear let's say for instance I bought a two plus and contacted SSL and they said the same thing we don't transfer licenses and software just because you buy a used piece of equipment so basically they want you to buy the new piece of equipment before they will release the software. Thanks for the confirmation I thought it was just me.
Wow, that was expensive. 😗 You know, i had the saame problem. And finding a daw/soundcraft (like) pathchbay with dSubs or whatever just wasn't available..what happen to those 3u external hard drives? I couldn't search it...for some reason. But they got to have outputs. Tascam recorders, and shit. All have this capablity, annd!!you even get a recorder. Maybe you wanna direct out that sh*t, out of that big MuhFo, back inside that bit*h. And, if you have a protool or something, you can record those all at once. Yeah, so i found a JoeCo type recorder/daw to run, my sh*t, out so i can mix it, and use my out board sh*t, too. Very nice. Good day
I heard of those but I haven't looked into them.

I found and snagged a Mackinac 32-channel VLZ 3 about a couple of weeks before seeing this post. Finding the VLZ 4 for $200 is definitely great deal. I am on the fence right now on getting the Tascam StudioBridge. I was imaging the same workflow with when I decided to grab that VLZ 3. Nice video. I subbed….🔥💯😎👍🏾
It just came in today. I’m digging it so far.

Can you bounce tracks lo move or copy tracks?
Simple answer Yes once you get your tax recorded into the tascam you can manipulate it like you would any DAW. Copy paste and even bounce. With a little creative routing you can even mix down to this deck
There's a track swap function but in the manual i cant see anywhere about bouncing ? And i would say there isn't that option because there's no faders ? how are going to control the mix to the two stereo mix down tracks like 23 and 24 ? I think why i like it is because it just records all 24 tracks and plays back them thats the real benefit here to me !
@christopherdunn317 thanks, I guess to bounce you would have to patch the board so that whatever you want to bounce comes out of a bus in the mixer to a pair of channels in the recorder
Yeah bouncing do require a little bit of creative routing you can't do it internally It have to go go through the mixing console by way of patching like you said but yeah it is possible@@descargamusicalny
So the bouncing feature is not done internally you would actually have to use your mixing console like someone else suggested but it's still the same principle especially if you leave two tracks available to bounce to and run your mixer back into those two available tracks. so it's a bit of a process especially if you were thinking outside the box it can be done and you won't find it in the manual I just heard them mention it during the product announcement before the units came out. I follow Tascam and it was in their product announcement.@@christopherdunn317

Finally Bro...
Thanks - you've answered the question I posted in the previous video here. I can see the metering on the small screen. It would be great if they made a smaller 8 track version of this.
Actually I'm thinking ahead because if this machine has midi timecode start and stop or clock you should be able to sink two of these together for 48 tracks now dig that.
@@sandersmediagroup3248 I mean a smaller version for the home studio for a lower price. I only really need 8 tracks, but have been looking for this type of device (with SD, not tape, video tape, HDD, etc.) for years!
@@timocarliermusic they have the dp24 or the model 16 that takes 8 in
@@sandersmediagroup3248 no it’s not possible because both are masters and can’t be slaves
When used in stand-alone mode, do the levels show in the small screen, or are the green LEDs the only metering? Thanks.
Nope the metering is shown on the units display as well.
The other thing is ? its been hard to find mixers that have a lot of outputs to use the db-25 cables, i see how your doing it sort of backwards, but I'd like to use it the other way around, so i have mics hooked up to the mixer then record right two the bridge but it seems it will cost a lot in the end , thanks for the video !
You're absolutely right but I'm not doing any analog recording. I don't have bands or musicians or singers or anything like that coming in to record I'm mostly making my own music myself inside the computer so I have no need for the analog inputs. Because like I said I'm not playing any instruments but, if I did, let's say to mic my piano, I would use my interface which have 8 mic pre's that I also still have connected to my DAW it's just a matter of changing the driver. you're absolutely right I am doing it backwards depending on how you produce.
Last video nooooo

@ that’s great man I was a raised in Louisiana in the swamps but I’ll will be headed to Milwaukee on the 12 of November just in a few days
I was just jamming that baby drew a few hrs ago
Can you output all 24 tracks all at once with the usb to the bridge ? thank you !
Yes you can and you can record all of those 24 outputs right into the studio bridge on separate channels, at the same time. That's what makes this unit so powerful.
@@sandersmediagroup3248 Cool thanks very much thats awesome
great job! very inspiring for my future setup here at the studio! thanks!
Hello, very useful video.I much prefer this kind of video than those which seem more "professional" but in which we learn nothing except seeing the face of a person who speaks without saying anything. Your explanation are clear and it's cool to discover step y step this great machine with you. I am going to buy one next month for my analog / digital home studio here in France! Thanks for this help in my crucial choice!
I’ve been doing this kind of thing for a year now. My friend asked me to do live sound for his event. They only had an analogue mixer, but I decided to bring my audio interface and laptop just in case. I ended up plugging vocal mics directly into my audio interface and used Ableton to host plugins to process the vocals and sent that directly out of my interface into the analogue mixer. It worked out well. Since then I’ve mainly just used my RME interface with its Totalmix mixer or Ableton to process vocals and instruments and to play backing tracks live and use an iPad to control the mix wirelessly. It’s amazing that a good audio interface or daw can be setup as a digital mixer or in your case as a processor to add features not found on an analogue mixer.
Looks awesome! Would love to see you do a full mix session when you get it all going. Do you run any outboard gear with your console?
No, watch my other videos I show how to use your old laptop as a processor. That's how I mix for real. Basically using an 8 channel interface and plugins from a different computer inserted into my board.
Thanks.
YEAHHH
thanks for this vid! very usefull and hope to see part 2 soon!
You will. I ordered my cables but now they're delayed so enjoy the videos that's up though until I get that part two for you. And thanks for subscribing
Really nice that you take the time, to make a step by step video. I will save this video, for later. I will get this unit in the near future. First i'll wait on the reaction from the DAWless/Homeproducers community
Make sure that you know that db25 cable are expensive.
@ I know, I know 🥲

thnks you 😄
No problem 😊
I kept my eye on Amazon and I checked Amazon the last time and it had six so I hurry up and pick one up. Luckily I had the money when it became available and I got Amazon prime so I got it overnight
waiting patiently for part 2
How did you get your hands on one? These were just released and not yet in stock anywhere! :(
Yes you can overdub on this machine just like you would do if you were using the DP 24 or the DP32 you would just arm the track that you want to record on out the other tracks in monitor mode and then just record on the available track. so for the most part is quite simple. download the manual from tascams website it has a lot of information but the manual in the box is very limited.
