Moss House
Carbon-capture architecture at it's finest. This house was prefabricated in intentionally small, supercompressed-straw panels, each of which sequestered about 600 lbs of atmospheric carbon. The site, consisting of steep, sloping native granite made installing a building a meticulous process, and the house was assembled almost entirely by human power. After Croft delivered the shell, the clients themselves finished off the interior & exterior, no doubt helped along by the thoughtful, precise work of our carpenters :)
if you are curious about experiencing a Croft house in person, here is a wonderful opportunity, as these homeowners are offering part-time rentals of this stunning property in Maine. Contact Mosshousemaine on instagram for more details!

Straw Panel vs. Conventional Construction Burn Test
มุมมอง 4.6Kปีที่แล้ว
We put our superinsulated, carbon-capturing panels head-to-head with conventional materials like fiberglass and foam to see just how durable natural, green building can be. Turns out those strawbale builders of yore knew a thing or two... awesome! you combine mud and sand into it and it's a perfect fire-proof resistant wall! I don't know about its effect on water...

Ironically it's not the fire, but water that they fear the most

Ah yes, the three little pigs: Dow, Dupont, and Owens-Corning.
