    I am a big believer in active learning. The more we are focused and active during the learning, the more we can learn. But a lot of times I feel like 10’ isn’t enough to facilitate such learning. To be exact, i don’t feel like I could learn a lot from these 10’-15’ or if I did learn, the progress seems very slow and subtle. Do you have any recommendations on how to make use of these tiny chunks of time during the day and feel proud that we actually make some progress out of these sessions? I think if I could feel motivated that I have actually done something worthwhile out of these 10-15’ of learning, I may want to repeat it and be consistent.

    Actually most English speakers *do* have the 'ch' sound of 'mich' and 'sprechen'! It's the first sound of words like 'huge' or 'hue'. This is almost universal in British and Australian varieties of English, and quite common in North American speakers as well. The IPA character is [ç]. It's still difficult for English speakers to control in German though, because it's usually only at the beginning words for us. The 'ch' sound of 'machen' or 'doch' isn't found in many dialects of English. Only in Scottish English, as far as I know, and only in place names and loanwords from Scots or Gaelic, like 'loch' or 'machair'.

    Not a bad video but instead of "Mir ist gut" say "Mir geht es gut". As a German tutor living in Germany my whole life I never heard of the first version. Maybe it's a regional variant but I'm pretty sure it's not Standard German.

    • @learngermanwithstories
      @learngermanwithstories 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point. "Mir ist gut" is much rarer, and it has a different meaning. It's the exact opposite of "mir ist schlecht". Like e.g. someone asking you "Ist dir schlecht?" I'd reply "Nein, mir ist gut". If I say "es geht mir gut", then it's much more general, like I'm happy with my life, I'm healthy, not too stressed at work etc. There may well be a lot of regional variation with this as well. But anyway, I use it, and I'm a native speaker, so I guess students should be allowed to use it as well.
